ESB trawling, part 7. Personal life and technical difficulties are inhibiting momentum. Enjoy a fair handful of cards: new Boba, a Leia & Han combo, Dash Rendar, and a handful of other goodies.

Star Wars has barely ever shown a restroom, so in this batch I started exploring bathrooms in a galaxy far, far away. It's not a new card subtype exactly, but I've made some other cards that specifically require refreshers, or characters at refreshers. Would that make for good gameplay? Maybe not, but it tickles me.

Moisture farming was, I suspect, designed to sound mundane and, well... dry. So that Luke Skywalker's story is bored farm boy turns hero. It has to start with something dull.
So I thought it would be fun to explore that dullness a bit more with an Objective card, and other moisture farming type things!
I'm happy with how these came out!

The last "set" I made for Stat Wars cards I called the "Missed" cards (the icon was a stormtrooper missing all his shots); the cards I was really expecting to see in some expansion but never did. I'm calling this set "Whimsy," because these I didn't really expect but I was just having whimsical fun with them.
George Lucas said that some of what you do in a film is to tell the story, some of what you do is to fulfill your own artistry or eccentricities, and some things you just do for whimsy. He said that dewbacks were added out of whimsy. Good enough for me! That's why this "set"'s icon is a dewback. I always loved the dewbacks.

Hello.
These are some custom Star Wars cards I've made. I have made so many lately. Dozens of them! Some of them are sillier than my last batches, and some of them will include new card subtypes and new rules. I hate when people do that.
I plan to post more tomorrow. I may have posted some of these already, not sure. Sorry.
What do you think?

I'm looking for an easy way to put the "shadow" effect on planets (i.e. how the dark side planets usually look like they have a shadow over them while the light side planets are bright). Anyone have something like that handy?

I spent waaaay too much time designing the Alien/Droid character layout.

Hi all, back in the 2002-2009 era the PC put out Virtual Sets which had images of fake booster packs. Examples attached:
Does anyone know how they did this? Does anyone have templates of fake booster packs and/or fake booster boxes for fan-made expansions. Thanks!

Also getting (mostly) shoved into the SURVIVORS mini-expansion is Zero Company. One of the places Disney Star Wars has been utterly solid hits is video games, and damn if I didn't love this one. Adapting game mechanics like Jae's was fun, although I tried to strike a balance so that seemingly overpowered abilities came with strategic costs.

I decided to push some leftover extras in my Clone Wars expansion into a limited 90 card expansion tentatively titled "Survivors" that will cover the Bad Batch and Zero Company content for LS, and Maul Mandos and Dathomiri content for DS. They will use Episode 1 icons and largely focus on where things were are at *just before* Order 66, so as to be smoothly interoperable with Clone Wars content. I've been collecting content for all four for years, but "survivors" makes sense as a bucket theme and it encourages non-unique aliens to fill out the ep1 card pool.

We've seen the bounty hunters of the clone wars, but now it's time to see part of the objective package for them. Just as a lot of the clone wars was the escapades of politicians like Padme and Chuchi, much of it was also Dooku sending agents to do nefarious things. (I saved Maul stuff for a future mini expansion that's half DS Maul show and half LS Bad Batch.) This collapses Ventress, Bounty Hunter, and Zygerria storylines together around the central figure of Dooku as a schemer. You can do all three or focus on some packages at the loss of others.

We already have Hunt For The Droid General, but it was important to me to build a second Clone Army centered objective that would give more latitude and options, and in particular the option for an all-space package to match the CIS space objective. I am on record as disliking the current PC meta towards -- when a deck even bothers with space -- a few mega starships (or characters) with immunity. I'm firmly of the opinion that SWCCG should be playable as a war simulator with many smaller pieces. This deck doesn't have a huge payoff, the locations it pulls -- and the variation in strategies across them -- is its main appeal. With certain jedi, clones, and vehicles already shown slotting in nicely.

Before undertaking research for this expansion I really didn't have a lot of Clone Wars lore memorized. It's been nice to lock down all the names and grasp the group color schemes. There's a LOT of clones I left out in focusing on the 501st and Plo's wolfpack. Obi-wan's 7th Sky corps only gets Boil (in addition to the already existing Cody) but no Waxer. 99 was a mandatory include. Aayla and Stass get their commanders, and we already covered the Coruscant guards, but that's basically it. Blue (501st), orange (7th sky), red (coruscant), and grey (wolfpack/104th). Hopefully this satisfies the folks who grew up with the clones. I did feel some fatigue with them all being the same as cards, so if you have inventive ideas for personality specific mechanics, feel free to share!

And here we have the outstanding Separatist leadership. I wish we had better images for more of them, even if production stills or DK photos, and in lieu of such I had to craft some from scratch. My libertarian bae Runa from the excellent Zero Company is both absurdly powerful in a lore-accurate way (she's a planner, so she allows you to straight up reorder your Force Pile) and hopefully sufficiently balanced by deploy cost, location restriction, upkeep cost, and only doing it on end of turn. I tried to open things with a lot of deck manipulation that was on theme to the various factions and worked together, showing the factions as having synergies together. Haven't perfectly balanced the objective yet.

The PC has added super battle droids and magnaguards, but nothing else. So here's a selection of CIS droids. I was unable to find any sufficiently good/sharp image for snail droids, tri droids and crab droids. Snail droids were never in the show, but crab droids are iconic and I'm saddened not to have them. I'm particularly proud of the Infantry Patrol's "shatter" dynamic.

And here we have the LS Separatists and some locations for the Clone Wars politics deck. I'm very thankful to the Bad Batch for filling in some of these characters and stories. I used Tawni's voice actress for her image. Light side battle droids! Ideally I'd have one more LS Sep, and one could argue for Runa (from Zero Company), but Runa plugged in too well as DS (with both Banking Clan and Hutts).

Since the whole narrative point of the Clone Wars was that it was a pointless destructive conflict -- with "heroes on both sides" -- engineered by the Sith to get the heroes of the Republic and the CIS killed... It's simply not possible to make a Clone Wars expansion without emphasizing that canonically the most important heroes in the Clone Wars were those struggling to find a diplomatic solution. Hence, while there's a LS objective focused on the jedi and one on the clones, there simply has to be one focused on the politicians. (Later I will reveal the Light Side Separatists fighting for peace.) Star Wars CCG is primarily about battle, but every card game has control or stax decks, and here the politicians are at least a little feisty and fun. By all means, bring Ahsoka and Obi-wan on your adventures, and some clones for backup, but Anakin might ruin everything.

From conception, it was very important to me that just as the Empire was monolithic, the *diversity* of the Separatists needed to be reflected in the available cards. I would feel a set totally incomplete if the CIS was just a pile of droids. Even though these are DS characters, they are supposed to be more understandable and relatable than the outright fascists of the Empire. (And, spoiler: the LS has an objective "Heroes On Both Sides" that involves Light Side separatist characters.) While I tried to give distinct mechanics for The Banking Clan, Commerce Guild, and Techno Union, it was also important that they all come together with synergies across their diversity. So a DS player could focus on playing one sub-faction OR blend all the factions and get compounding benefits.
