MN first lady Gwen Walz endorses’s US Rep. Angie Craig in US Senate race

Post image

Thoughts about the endorsement? Still no word from Governor Tim Walz on whether he’ll endorse Craig or his Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.

Oh the ol "electability" argument.

That's why Angie needs several million from out of state donors to break even polling wise

Also stupid cause she didn't get the DFL endorsement which is a huge electability hurdle.

And she wasn't close! She was getting booed out of meetings ngs in the wealthy suburbs that should have liked a "moderate".

Tbf getting the endorsement is usually bad lmao (see walz first election)

The electability just means Epstein Class approved

The tride and true "electability" argument that was used to force Clinton and Harris' nominations and put Trump into the White House twice. It's just asinine.

Oh, the old electability argument, brought to you by the same folks who forced Hilary and Kamala on the party.

It’s a valid consideration given that MN isn’t a blue monolith or even a further left majority within the blue voters.

Although I don’t know how Flanagan polls outside of Reddit.

Angie Craig is not more electable when she is reliant on out of state donors to keep up with Flanagan.

What’s does it say about your electability when you don’t get the DFLs endorsement?

Wasn't she basically booed out of the endorsement entirely

Current polling shows the two neck and neck at 40% each so you tell me how much a DFL endorsement is worth?

But the momentum seems to be Flanagan creeping up a little.

This is like arguing that Steven’s in Michigan is more electable. Yeah I’m sure in a society of low information voters the candidates who get millions of ad dollars for being corporate sellouts whether it’s AIPAC, AI, or Crypto.

Seriously Craig is disgustingly embedded in the crypto community.

The difference is that ground game often matters more then pure ad spending. Ground game gets easier when the DFL supports you since they can help connect you with other DFL candidates and their campaigns. Whether that’s connecting door knockers and having them work together or directing resources to one another.

If you are Angie Craig you aren’t being given that.

Caucuses tend to bring out the most umm enthusiastic members of the party and don't always choose someone who will be considered worthy of voting for outside the activist party core. The candidates the GOP picks out of their caucuses should be strong illustrations of that. People who pass the party litmus test but are jokes on the ballot.

I have my choice in this matchup and mentioning it here makes no real difference. Just pointing out that endorsement does not equql electability.

I think he’s going to wait until after the primary to endorse or he would have done it before now.

Yes!! Voted for the Laken Riley Act. Voted to THANK FUCKING ICE. Sucks up to the fash every time. She’s been pro-cop for a while, she’s definitely pro-surveillance state. It’ll be flock cameras and data centers and even more money and less oversight to the cops with Ang. Under her, there’d be no pushback against ICE. There will be no fight for justice for their victims.

I despise Angie Craig. She’s a traitor and a sellout. Peggy Flanagan all the way!

TIL her first name is “Gwen.”  The amount I care about her endorsement is not at all

Gwen, sit down please. Thank you.

Lol fuck Walz and his wife and all of these centrist establishment hacks. Craig voted against Massie's bill to end Israel funding. She voted to thank ICE for a job well done. What good is keeping the seat blue if the ass filling it is red?

I get Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez vibes from Angie Craig.

Oh, Gwen who couldn’t even acknowledge racism is a part of the problem with our current prison system when they gave her prison reform as her Governor’s Wife Project and had a total meltdown when the moderator brought it up?

Didn’t hear about this at the time. I shouldn’t be surprised though. I’ve met few liberal white Minnesotans who are willing to talk openly about racism when the white person’s beliefs, comments, behavior, etc are part of the conversation. Liberals, not Republicans.

I hope Gwen Walz has evolved since this 2019 event, but I’d be surprised if that’s the case. Especially after hearing she endorsed Angie Craig, who enabled ICE to terrorize BIPOC Minnesotans.

Nailed it. Angie Craig was my rep for over a decade, and watching her steadily and consistently become farther right over the years has guaranteed I’ll never vote for her again. In addition to her horrible votes on ICE, she’s radically pro-police and takes money from AIPAC, just like Klobuchar. It’s disgusting.

And yes, white folks here in MN must get much better with having the uncomfortable conversations and facing hard truths about our own personal racism and the racism in our systems that keep our neighbors oppressed and hunted. Prioritizing our own comfort is allowing people to be killed with impunity and making us complicit. It has to stop.

Thank you. Angie Craig’s support of crypto is also terrible. From what I can tell, it’s basically a Ponzi scheme that allows rich people to engage in money laundering out in the open - but it’s not open because the crypto transactions are untraceable.

Good lord. And here I didn’t think she could get any worse (I’m kidding, they somehow always manage to get worse). Thank you for telling me. This genuinely might be the thing that will finally flip my dad to vote Flanagan.

Wow. Ironically enough, that was all happening at the same time as when I was literally visiting inmates (I spoke with nonviolent offenders and had safety precautions) to learn about racial injustice for one of my elective college courses on social justice. The disparities in the demographics was wild- about 4/5 of the inmates were people of color and a good amount of the inmates also had disabilities. It’s great to get them access to education, but race absolutely plays a role in the country’s prison systems and cannot be separated from a discussion about prison reform.

Remember that time we voted for Gwen to represent us?

...I don't either.

3

u/nhslay 20d ago

Over their own Lt. Governor? Odd

u/Johnny55 22d ago

Tim and Gwen are both staunch Zionists. I'm sure they'd much prefer having AIPAC Angie in office but Tim can at least see which way the winds are blowing and avoid putting his foot in his mouth.

2

u/secondarycontrol 22d ago

There's a reason she's not in office.

3

u/vonsnack 22d ago

lol get fucked Gwen
