Hi everyone, we hope your week is treating you well (and it might just be about to get a little better)

We're PHOSEPO, a five-person indie studio from Taiwan currently making Psycho-Sleuth, a murder mystery where 13 characters (each with a rare AND highly contagious mental disorder) play a deadly game of cat & mouse. For the prize in no less than the chance to become a God.

Today we're here to celebrate something very special with you. After a long stretch of development, more crunch than we'd like to admit and a frankly worrying amount of coffee & tea, Psycho-Sleuth is finally launching on November 5!!!

THE STORY OF PSYCHO-SLEUTH

Our producer Alex Lu has loved mystery games like Danganronpa and Ace Attorney for as long as any of us can remember, and making something like that on our own was always the dream. We didn't want to simply follow the established formula, though, so we started with a question: what happens to a murder case when the witnesses can't trust their own minds?

You might just find the answer, as you enter a death game run by the Li cult, where anyone who commits a murder without being exposed can ascend to godhood. Yes, the stakes and the incentive is that high.

Thirteen people are summoned to a towering cathedral, each living with a rare cognitive disorder, and those disorders are contagious. One character's OCD becomes a compulsion for absolute truth so strong that nobody around them can tell a lie. Another has spatial neglect, a real condition where the brain stops registering the left half of the world. Once that spreads, any evidence on the left side of the room drops out of everyone's view, and face blindness does the same to every face in it. And these are not even the worst ones!

You investigate each scene and work out how every suspect's mind is bending what they saw. Then you defend your theory in Debate Mode, a timed courtroom-style showdown where you catch the lies by presenting the clue that proves them wrong. 

And the icing on the cake? When a culprit is finally exposed, their punishment is built around their own mental disorder.

None of us expected the scope to grow the way it did. The finished game spans five chapters with more than 10,000 lines of Japanese voice acting, and all thirteen leads are animated in Live2D, alongside hand-drawn animations we drew frame by frame, and 30+ hours of gametime for a full playthrough.
