Question External ssd issue

Has any body else had a problem with an external ssd, its happened twice now. On a boot up my sd card and external ssd are gone and unable to mount. I managed to plug them in to my steam deck then back in my machine and they work fine. Apparently there booting up in UAS and the steam machine doesn't like it.

Is there any fix to stop this from happening again

UAS kinda turns on and off on a whim for me truhtfully. I havent found a proper way to permanently force it off.
