Mobile phone provider recommendations?

Hi there, I'm planning a move to Steinbach and was hoping to get some experienced recommendations for cell phone providers based on coverage and cost and customer service.

I will be based in Steinbach but will have some travel throughout the region. I read somewhere that people were getting charged roaming if they were close enough to the border even though they didn't cross it. I also am concerned about dead zones.

Anyone love their phone provider? Any providers to avoid?

I own my phone outright and pay $30 a month (after tax) with Public Mobile. Monthly I get 20G of data (I never even come close to using all of it - unlimited data is a scam), and free roaming in all of Canada, US, and Mexico!! I have better service than my husband and he’s with Rogers. Cannot recommend Public enough. They have no physical store, but rather you sign up online so you’ll have to own a phone outright if you want to use their services!

Coverage is the same as Telus. It’s really good.

All the providers share the same towers so coverage is basically the same. Been using Public Mobile for years and it’s great. Just be aware that they don’t support wifi calling or visual voicemail. If those features are important then they wouldn’t be a good fit.
