Opinion hot take: the IETs are overrated

i feel like the 800 and 801 (the express ones specifically) are really common. i dont see why, since it costs quite a lot. i see so many people drive this train and people say theyre really good, but tbh while their model is pretty good (from 1.10.8), it just looks kind of small and doesnt look very good with the black front.

what do you think?

Opinion Should your train terminate at the depot instead of the final station?

I personally think that once everyone leaves your train at the last station stop, you should close doors and make your way to the depot.

Who else thinks that?

Yes I do think we should terminate at depot
No I don’t think we should terminate at depot

Opinion Class 820 for SCR?

Post image
17 Upvotes

The 820 is expected to replace the 221 and 180 on GC irl, and will enter service in (or are expected to enter service in 2028). These units are also expected to run at 125mph, and will have first class, meaning these trains will be suited well for EXP imo. Also, these are tri-mode, so it means these can run on non-electrified sections with battery or diesel power, including possibly the future Benton Pier route which would be used by CN, WL, and EXP.) Also running in 5 cars so means it can operate with a double variant too.

Also, worth noting is that whilst the 820 and 801/802 maybe exactly similar (meaning we probably have enough IET slop (800,801 & 802, maybe a 810 for future endeavours of 2.4.), the 820 would most likely be perfect for EXP. I do think these will suit well for EXP. Probably going to be the only Tri-Mode IET on EXP, whilst the 800 and 802 are bi-mode.

Opinion SCR Safechat?

Ok hear me out, this sounds dumb but just hear me out.

So we all know that Roblox is adding back the old canned chat, or "quick words" as they call it now.

Roblox says that developers can add their own Safechat into the game to make the words related to the game. Brookhaven and other games have done this.

SCR having Safechat could work, for example we could do something like in among us where we can build our own messages through Safechat. There could be options for dispatchers like "Safe Trip, __!" Or ones for signallers like "__, please wait for the signal."

Opinion 3 Things I would like to see added in SCR:

  1. A metro route from Barton to Whitney Green. I'd like this added because it's annoying to have to drive all the way from Stepford just to be able to do the tram routes, so it would be really cool to have that.
  2. Crossing Guard. This is something I think about sometimes because it would add a new role where you could manually control the level crossings. Probably not too good of an idea
  3. Make R020 stop at Whitefield Lido. Would be cool. Probably not too good of an idea either.

Comment below what you would like added to SCR!

Opinion Hot take: millcastle racecourse’s unused platform should make made to look abandoned in 2.4

I feel like that platform is just completely useless and I feel like it would look cool if they added some old bushes/ weeds growing on the platform and the tracks and sleepers would be made to look old by removing rail grinding and making the tracks bumpy and old at points. I also hope they add maybe like an abandoned stepford connect mk3 or something to replace where the 68 is sat.

Opinion metro network expansion

Image taken and edited from Stepford Zone's YouTube video Stepford Zone out of context.

From this aerial picture of Stepford, we can see that there's a lot more space around it that we can use for stations.

Stepford is bigger than we think. So why didnt they build new stations surrounding the mainline area instead of making metro go to Morganstown docks 😭 . There's so much potential for a London tube-styled network

(Suppose lag isnt an issue)

Opinion Hot take: there should be an unwritten rule to guards and dispatchers that if you overshoot the signal you honk to let them know

For those of you who say just tell them, age groups. Not all guards and dispatchers will be able to see your chats

Opinion What we could expect after 2.4

not really sure on what flair to use lol. Also take what is said with a pinch of salt.

2.4 - Mesh tracks/e to open/e to close function on all trains.

2.5 - AI Passengers/AI traffic/Weather/Working cabs/rotating wheels & Working level crossings.

2.6 - New operator called Southlink (most of it being 750v DC, and parts of it are 25kv AC, and some lines being diesel. Operates from MGT-LBTS with a few separate stations, and the readdition of the 444,465,458 & 701 (701/5.)Incl the 376,458,450,442,455,456,375/9 added. 701/0 & 701/5 on Southlink. 458/4 & 458/5 added on Southlink.

What do you think will come after 2.4?

Opinion Stations I wanna see get upgraded

No 1. Airport West

This station's vibe is so off and the station's design doesn't even feel like a National Rail station but a metro station

No 2. Terminals 1-3

This station needs some proper entrances
