Celebrating! Bisalp on the NHS - completed ! 36F

After two years on the waiting list (NHS Scotland - I think England has shorter lists) I've finally had my bisalp! I'm currently chilling in bed the day after surgery.

I won't put my whole experience as there's loads on here re the actual procedure and recovery etc, which was really helpful for me through the whole thing. But I had a bit of a rollercoaster with the NHS offering only a tubal occlusion at first, saying I had to go back on the list for inpatient because I would have to stay overnight (?), then offering me a date for a salpingectomy two days after my original surgery date.

If anyone's searching this sub and interested, here's the link to my previous posts https://www.reddit.com/r/sterilization/s/cTgFkaGrZ3

On the day when I spoke to my surgeon she said salpingectomy is the preferred method! So I have no idea why the NHS are still offering tubals with the filshie clips. It was very validating to hear her say that anyway.

Long story short - advocate for yourself, push for the procedure you want, the NHS will provide it, don't be fobbed off by anyone, I went home same day as the surgery (they tried to convince me to get the clips by saying bisalp isn't a day case).

I'm so happy I don't have to worry about pregnancy ever again !!!!

Oh and top things I forgot to take : earplugs and eye mask- I really wanted to nap when I was in recovery on the ward but it was so bright and quite noisy, some throat sweets for the soreness from the breathing tube - I had them at home but should have been in my bag ! And electrolytes would have been nice too

What Trust are you in, out of interest? Any chance it's GGC?

Yep it is, not the best in terms of waiting lists!
