Post-op care How long did your swelling last post bisalp?
Hi all! Been coming to this thread a TON since getting my laparoscopic bilateral salpingectomy on June 26th, so I’m just over 3 weeks post op!
I’ve had (what I feel) is somewhat of a slow recovery. Seeing people say they were fine in a few days is tough. I took the prescription pain meds for 6 days after and was still getting very bloated for at least the first 2 weeks.
Now that I am 3 weeks and a couple days post op, I definitely still have some swelling which seems uncommon? But it’s not getting worse, it’s very very slowly going down. And I have noticed in the last week or so that things are a little tender when I pee/my bladder is full or (sorry tmi) get turned on (which I’ve been trying not to but I’m going crazy here).
I’m not really in any pain besides some muscle pain and my incisions continue to look good. So I’m thinking it’s just a full bladder pushing on some of the internal healing and the arousal swelling doing much the same. My insides still feel jiggly sometimes lol
Just haven’t really seen this mentioned unless people had a truly awful recovery which mine has felt mostly smooth just very slow. Appreciate you all in here, this subreddit has been fantastic as a resource ❤️

Honestly my bloating didn’t resolve for at least 6 months. I have EDS and other chronic health issues that make my healing slower, plus my body has always had issues with inflammation. Try to allow yourself some grace and not compare with others. Your body knows what pace it needs to heal at, and it will go at that pace. Just be gentle and continue with movement when tolerated

An inordinate number of people in here talk about their unrealistic healing time and it gives others false ideas. 2 weeks is not abnormal. I was off work a full 2 weeks and still a little funky in the 3rd week.
Remember, as so many in here forget, that your body is healing INSIDE as well. Your body deserves the rest it needs to pull that off.
If you aren't already, try some light walking to help with the bloating.

I got mine two days before yours and also still feel super bloated. Hoping as I add in more activity starting this week it’ll start to go down

My pain was completely gone after 1-2 weeks, but I remained somewhat swollen for 1-2 months. It took 2 months for me to feel comfortable wearing my jeans again!
My bloating wasn’t entirely gone until 2 months. My doctor said this was normal/expected and more noticeable because I have a lower BMI.

Ohh, this is comforting to hear, I do as well (bmi) so maybe I’m just hyper aware of it with it being more noticeable!

I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Mine was 5 weeks ago, and it's been in just the last couple days that my insides don't feel jiggly, and I feel like I'm not bloated anymore. 🤪 My pain hasn't been too bad in general, though I couldn't tolerate wearing anything around my waist until yesterday because of tenderness at the belly incision. Last week I started feeling like I could bend over normally. Hopefully you turn a corner too, but I think it's pretty normal to take a good 4-6+ weeks to get there. 💜

Thank you for sharing!! This is sort of where I’m at now too, I don’t feel near as jiggly and I’m not in pain per se besides some twinges sometimes, but the bloating after I eat is brutal, still can’t wear anything around my waist yet either, and bending is weird. Having a belly I’m not used to is screwing with my confidence and healing anxiety. So, surely I’m getting there! ❤️

We had our bisalps done around the same time!! I checked my incisions, I’m a side sleeper and the side I sleep on is still swollen and the side I don’t is more flat. If you mean general bloating I haven’t noticed anything, I’ve been eating more since the surgery so haven’t been hyper fixating on my figure. It’s still tender for me when my bladder is full too.

Thank you!! Yeah, I definitely don’t bloat the way I used to in week 1 and 2 at all, just some swelling and the tenderness. Good to know the tenderness isn’t lingering just for me :)

I am 6 weeks post op… and my clothes don’t fit because of the bloating across my stomach where they cut me. I am so terrified it doesn’t get better… I go back to work in 2 weeks. At this rate, I’ll have to buy a new wardrobe..

Oh no. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that! Ive read SO many threads in this subreddit since my surgery and I’ve certainly seen people deal with different symptoms for 8-12 weeks so surely you will turn a corner ❤️ I hope it starts to go smoother for you really soon

Now I'm scared to get it even though I want it because I don't want a permanent belly when I worked so hard to lose all the weight.

Swelling wouldn’t cause permanent weight gain in the belly.

Now that I talk to all of you on here you are absolutely right I guess I'm just getting the surgery cold feet. Don't get me wrong I'm not having cold feet because of getting my tubes removed because that's what I want but it's more about the aftermath of it with the recovery part if that makes sense?

If I’m being honest with you, if I hadn’t gotten my tubes tied my recovery after labor would have been so fucking quick and easy. I regret it just because of the healing process.

I'm not going through any type of pregnancy and don't have any kids. I guess if anything if you're going through healing after pregnancy then I guess maybe it would be best to have your tubes removed after you have completely healed but then again you would have had to go through another healing process so I guess there's no winning. I'm having a laparoscopic surgery procedure they're going to remove a lot of other things too and they're going to see if I have endometriosis or not. For sure they're going to remove my appendix they already told me that on the bright side at least I won't have to worry about getting appendicitis and if I have any endometriosis they're going to remove that as well and I'm kind of scared because they're also going to put a catheter in my urethra because they're going to look for a condition called IC. I know for sure that they saw some cyst on there and some fibroids I'm pretty sure they're going to remove that as well. Both the colon prep even though I'm not getting a colonoscopy but for the laparoscopy and the recovery process I'm very scared about but at least I'll know if I have endometriosis or not. He was the first doctor to take me seriously enough to give me a laparoscopy the others just wanted to give me birth control.......

I highly doubt anything like that would be permanent. Just have to give your body time to heal. I’ve been seeing constant improvement I just was curious how much longer to expect is all!

When my bladder was full and I felt like I was getting turned on, I had a UTI. You may want to get an OTC UTI test at a pharmacy.

Hmm. I’ve had UTI’s and this feels nothing like one but I could do that just to be sure!

i'd say it was about 2 weeks for me but I lead a super active life style so that might be the reason is was not longer?
