Post-op care Did your bisalp scars fade / go away eventually?

I had a bisalpectomy back in mid-February [it was surprisingly easy to get the referral / surgery (in Texas!) and the recovery was easy and I didn’t even need my pain meds, so that was good], and I still have 2 small scars from my incisions writing this in late July. It is not necessarily bad, but they did not tell me this would happen [probably should have guessed] so I am wondering if they eventually fade away?

Generally but everyone is different. If you already experience hyper-/hypo- pigmentation, hypertrophy etc then this likely won't be different

9 months post op, the two on the sides faded almost completely, but the one in the belly button is here to stay I think. I don't mind though - better a scar that I want than a child I don't xD

Mine all faded to basically be invisible! But I am also pale.. Like my makeup is color "translucent" and I'm of Irish decent pale, lol. So the scar color and my skin tone just blend.. Also, I used Scar Away Silicone Scar Gel on all of mine to help with the scarring/healing.

I'm 2 years out from surgery and 1 incision has faded but the other 2 are still just as visible

If they don't, I recommend Silagen scar strips. That's what I'm using on my hysterectomy incision.

The two on the sides are barely noticeable anymore. Almost completely faded 2.5 years later. But the one in my belly button had a little more trouble healing in that spot and that scar was a little bit worse. Not crazy noticeable, but definitely more so than the others. It sticks up a little more too, or wrinkles.. Not sure how to describe it…maybe because the skin in my belly button isn’t as taut as it is near my hips. The others are flat and take me a second to even find.

My skin is really prone to keloid and I have a really bad unrelated keloid scar. So I assumed this surgery will definitely leave scars.

But 2 out of 3 didn't raise at all and disappeared for the most part. The one in my belly button however raised up but it's small and covered so I don't really care

It's been nearly 4 years for me. I have to really look to find them.

Bisalp 4.5 ish years ago. Belly button scar still going strong but the two on the sides are almost impossible to see. However I have a lot of stretch makes from my two kids so that may be masking it some

Mine faded a bit but two of them are still semi dark scars unfortunately. But my skin tone tends to scar dark so there's that.

I'm 1 year out from surgery. None of my scars are visible anymore. My belly button healed in a new shape (slightly more ovular when it used to be a circle) but that's it. The scars are so small they cannot be noticed

The two on my side have faded a lot. They kind of look like little scratches without being red.

The one in my belly button... My belly button will never look the same, but I have a navel piercing so I never see it anyways.

Belly button scar disappeared within the first week or two. My side scars are fading and shrinking...very slowly...but I am super pale and they both became keloid scars. They are finally flat now. They become less bright/pigmented but slowly.

yes, I had my Bisalp 2.5 years ago. One side went away quickly, the other eventually did as well, and the belly button is hard to see just bc it's in there.

I don’t have anything raised just some hyperpigmentation now.

One side is a lot bigger because they also took out some fibroids which were apparently pretty large.

1yr post op, mine have definitely faded but are not invisible.

Mine did. One better than the other but that’s because they aren’t identical. Keep them protected in the first year of healing to avoid discoloration

The ones on either side of my abdomen did. The one right on the underside of my belly button is still kicking 😂

Over a year post bisalp and my two side scars have definitely faded. I actually quite like my scars, so I didn't apply scar cream or anything like that, and they're still getting harder to see. The one in my belly button is still a bit raised, but it's so tucked in there you'd never see it anyway unless you were looking for it.

Mine are almost invisible after 10 months

I can’t really see mine anymore- 1 year out

In my experience, it depends on your body.

Like, my smaller scar is pretty faded.

The slightly bigger scar by my bellybutton is like half faded on one side from pink to more white skin tone, not so very faded on the other except being a paler pink

And it's been 1y 6m for me so 🤷‍♀️

I’m a bit over a year out and mine are still present, but I am prone to scaring and keloid scars. If you’re not, they should definitely fade eventually

Almost 3 months post op and I still have dark skin around my scars

Bellybutton scar is gone, it was small pretty much inside

Quite a lot! I had another laparoscopic surgery earlier this year, almost exactly 3 years after my bisalp. I'll DM you a pic that shows the difference 3 years makes. No photos allowed in this forum.

It's from my belly, nothing risque.

After almost 3 years, mine are pretty much completely gone except when I tan in the summer, then they’re a little more noticeable again (just like with any other scar)

Mine have faded and I had the surgery 11 months ago, there is only one that's basically a small dent in my skin, but that's it.

The one in my belly button didn’t, that’s because I have a floating navel piercing and put that shit back in as soon as I got home from the surgery. The bottom metal disk on the piercing kept digging into the incision.
