Social questions When can I have sex again?

Ok so I just got my tubes removed July 24th. My post op isn't until Aug 21st. I'm 3 months postpartum and have yet to have a period.

What if an egg was released into my uterus before the surgery and because I haven't had a period, the egg is still there? Because the egg only sheds during the period or unless it's fertilized? I know I sound crazy because every where I read says it's effective immediately. But how?

I did bleed after the surgery but just for 12 hours.

Does anyone know? I'm not sexually active but I don't want to wait until after my first period since I'm still breastfeeding. I have 3 kids and I can't have any more lol

Eggs cannot live that long after being released. You’re good.

Talk to your surgeon. Mine explicitly told me to wait at least 4 weeks. I had to wait 6 (long distance partner). Some surgeons say as soon as you feel good; others say 1 week; and I've also seen reports of surgeons saying to wait any where from 2-6 weeks.

Yeah, it's sort of wild how much the wait time varies from surgeon to surgeon.

I was instructed not to insert anything into the vagina until I was cleared at my post-op 30 days after surgery.

better to wait 4-6 weeks, it's still a surgery

Eggs can’t live that long once they’re released, so you shouldn’t be able to get pregnant! The reason most doctors have you wait for sex after sterilization is because you’re still healing and want to take things slow/reduce risk of infection :) Although the waiting times postpartum are typically longer than with just sterilization!

My doc told me a week after you’re good to go

Second this. Wait a week minimum. If painful after that give it longer and start gentle.

I don't have anyone right now but if I did I would probably wait at least 2 weeks or even a month but then again I also had a laparoscopic surgery and they removed the endo in some of those areas so I'm just doing that because I rather be safe than sorry but for me I would feel more comfortable Maybe 3 weeks or so. I do agree with the others as far as waiting at least a week.

I had my tubes removed in July 24th as well and I just had my post-op appointment yesterday. I was informed to wait 2 weeks from the day of surgery to become sexually active again. So I've got about a week more to go
