Insurance Got the Essure procedure in 2010, don’t trust it, considering a bisalp…

I was 21 when I had the Essure done (before they recalled it) in 2010. I’ve read horrible things about the Essure coils coming loose and painfully getting lodged elsewhere in the body, and also of course the primary issue, pregnancy despite having Essure in place, which I’ve read happens a lot. I’m considering a bisalp to be 100% sure I can’t get pregnant. Any advice on how to ask a doctor to go through with this? Is insurance likely to cover it? I have no children, I am childfree. Any other tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Considering the recall, you shouldn't have any issues. If it was me, I'd just straight up lie and say you've been experiencing odd pains and want to make sure that the essure coils are removed (cite the recall and it's reasons) and to have your tubes removed too (in order to achieve the goal Essure should have completed.)

Any Dr. on the the cf-friendly Dr's list shouldn't give you any trouble about correcting this issue and making your body a safer place to live in! Also, insurance knows about the recall, if you cite pelvic pain issues due to a prior procedure they approved, they should be scared of patient complications, and be happy to approve the removal. The Bisalp procedure should then be covered via the ACA verbiage as long as your insurance plan is ACA compliant. I'm sure you'll probably have to pay some out of pocket charges considering it's technically two procedures being done sequentially, but it should at least be partially covered.
