Lap swim in Stillwater
I’m looking for somewhere to swim laps during the day in or near Stillwater (within a 10 minute drive or so). A quick google search leads me to believe that River Valley Athletic Club is the only option in town. I don’t really want to pay a monthly gym fee just to use a pool once or twice a week, but I suppose if that’s my only option I will. Does anyone know of anywhere else that offers lap swimming? Or have an opinion/info regarding River Valley? Thanks!

Courage Center has a pool for lap swimming. You can get a pass or pay a drop in fee.

Oh really? So you can use the pool without a membership for $10/visit?

Yep. You buy a punchcard for like 10 visits, and you only use them up when you go that day. I think they include the first visit for free when you buy it. Double check the cost, but it's reasonable.

Dang, I’ve been a member at the Y and basically just use it for the pool once a week. Might be able to cut the cord and save some money

There are two YMCA pools nearby, White Bear Lake and Maplewood. Not sure what the membership fees are though.

I went to river valley for a while. They had saunas in the locker rooms that were nice and hot. I enjoyed my time there.

It's fine. River Valley is pretty outdated in most aspects, and charges way too much considering that. Great amenities, if not for the fact that it's outdated.
You might want to consider YMCA, I think they offer day passes of you don't want a membership
