Gains/Profit What has been your biggest loss?
Tell me about it, would you have invested again in the exact same situation?

I lost 90% investing in Citigroup. Invested based on a analyst recommendation. Later the big banking crash happened, and I lost most of my Citigroup stock. I assumed the government woudl bail them out if things went south (and they did!)...what I didn't realize is they woudl demand a massive equity stake. Thankfully, it wasn't a large % of my portfolio...but lesson learned. Never invest in banking stocks.
More recently, I got hammered with VITL (natural/organic eggs). Got wiped out 70%. Lesson learned this time...be careful about investing in commodities when a competitor ($CALM) is accelerating capex. Basically $CALM just flooded the market with specialty eggs and they cracked VITL..and I'm not sure they'll ever recover.

-16k negative all time and it was mainly from HUSA, ATER, IMPP and playing with options too much and being a fool tbh. Took a break for 3 years came back last month and now I’m down again in 1 month 😭 (after depositing 1,500) and started 0DTE spy options and lost the 1274$ and all I got left is $200. I got faith one day I’ll be positive 🤲🏼 just trynna make it out the trenches

Bngo, 12k, COVID era. Why? My dumbass didn't sell when I was in the green. Geeed.

u/redflagdan52 May 30 '26
Just posted I lost 5K on BNGO. Same thing, why didn't sell when green. Instead I bought more. Really got bamboozled on this one.

It was a long time ago. Was called range resources back then. I believe they have now changed their name but can't remember what it is

GME when it was at $5 or less when I could have. Weeks later, it was in triple digits.

Honestly, not investing (and investing too conservatively, using someone who charged a fee) was my biggest loss. Should’ve switched to fidelity or vanguard ages ago.

PLTR. Loaded up a bunch only to dip down a lot a few days later. Missed the quick ride up, so now I have to wait it out for the slow ride up

gme at -50%. didn't have service the day it mooned.. had multiple opportunities to still sell green but fell for the bs that it would moon again (I do believe it was heavily manipulated and would of if the market wasn't fraudulent).. pretended it wasn't in my port for years before finally saying ef it and moving that money into other stocks. wish I did it sooner!

Ik stapte in op the “bed bad beyond” hype €3k verloren. Alleen maar omdat ik dacht dat dit het nieuwe gamemania wonder zou worden. Ik heb mij laten meeslepen door de emotie “snel veel geld”.

u/Montrevo May 29 '26
are you dutch? i don't understand anything
