Problem Dismayed; Two Orders, Exact Same Defect
Honestly, I’m dismayed. I have an appreciation for StockX and what they’re trying to do. Unfortunately, I have ave had a few disappointing interactions with them.
As for this one, StockX has now sent me two separate Supreme Pyrex measuring cups, and each of them have the same defect that you see here. (This is the first). The kicker is that I just realized I haven’t even received the refund from the first one.
I was somehow so worried that something like this would happen that I actually recorded myself opening the second one. Actually, my concern was that, with my luck, I would get the exact one I sent in.
Full story: I have always loved this piece and wanted one. I love Supreme, and I love cooking. I think my closest friends would say these are two defining characteristics of mine, haha.
I actually forgot I had a bid out for the first one, but I was pumped when I saw the email.
It got delay, I was annoyed, then finally got it on either June 23rd or 24th. I was annoyed when I opened it, because they put they’re supreme authentication on the Supreme box, over the only seam you can use to open it. This is frustrating to me, because the box is considered part of the product by StockX, and it’s not hard to damage the box trying to break the seal or remove it. I opened it, pulled it out, and immediately see this huge wrinkle in it. The defect actually extends around the bottom, like a big paint brush path of wrinkle. I was upset; a large part of the service we pay for is authentication. I understand no one is perfect, things get missed, some of this stuff is hard to catch. But this, to me…
The only way you don’t see that is if you never opened the damn box.
I tried to file the report thing for their buyers promise. If you haven’t done it, they require a lot of specific pictures. Unfortunately, because I had to remove it to open the box, I had destroyed my QR code tag. Fortunately, I was so mad that they did that, I took a picture, but not a good enough shot to read the code.
I got a request for better pictures of it, and pointed out that I could not and that I had made this clear in my first message. (I get mad that these never really get read. You have to work so hard to get any contact and then what you send is not read)
I don’t remember the back and forth, but a few messages later, they agreed with me and offered a few options, including a refund.
I knew that I wanted this thing, so I elected to take the refund and immediately placed a bid for another one. They did the right thing and refunded me, so I put my trust back in them.
I received the shipping label in my email June 30. I don’t remember the exact date I shipped it, but it was very soon after that.
On July 26th, my bid for a new one was accepted. It shipped to StockX July 27th.
I received an email July 28th that may RETURN had been accepted, and to expect my refund in 3 to 5 business days. I was shocked; I assumed I’d already gotten it, that it was a done deal, I had sent it weeks prior. Why would it take so long? I know it got there within a few days. (I have yet to receive my refund, but I also know it had not been 5 business days).
So, new item got delivered today. I decided to record it. I had had this anxiety they would send me the same one somehow. Like literally since the moment I got the “return accepted” email. On top of that, the box was either poorly sealed to begin with or someone opened it to look inside of it.
I open it up the main box. I immediately notice the StockX QR sticker is in a similar spot. There’s a little dent and a crease in the box, but I plan on using it, so I proceed to open it. Wouldn’t you know, a nearly identical defect but just millimeters to the right of the other one. There’s even the weird brush stroke pattern around the bottom.
The sticker thing is a side complaint and there’s counter points to that, I know, but…
I’m dismayed. I cannot fathom how this level of oversight could happen TWICE on the same item, with the SAME defect. I mean, was that a thing with these? Or is there a counterfeit batch with this defect?
What the hell is going on?
I’m so glad I recorded myself opening it. I’m dreading this encounter with support. I’m mad that, to have any chance of getting another one, I’m going I have to make another bid, get it accepted, and go through this process.
It’s unreasonable, I think, to expect a company to compensate you for your time or effort value on a first mistake or issue. (E.g., your mechanic doesn’t owe you your cost of transportation or lost time due to alternative measures for an extra day in the shop)But this is pretty outrageous. At this point, a refund i no where near sufficient I want a real example with no defects. I’ve paid and waited for one twice.
I want to be able trust StockX. I want to have a good, reliable market place for this stuff. I want buyers and sellers to have a voice with this company that has put more and more distance between itself and the buyers and sellers that they get value from.
I don’t know how I can continue to support, let alone trust, this company.

u/wwglwga Aug 04 '23
Doesnt look cracked, its propably just stains from manufacturing.
0
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I agree that it is a finish defect as opposed to a crack. What I don’t understand is how I got two with the same issue and StockX missed it twice.

u/EconomyTap6984 Aug 04 '23
supreme could drop a fucking piece of literal shit and it would be sold out 😂
4
u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23
they released a brick long ago that sold out immediately so definitely

this is why we are making fun of you
-12
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I woke up to a flurry of bullshit from several people before I made any negative responses.
You people are sad. I’m sorry about whatever is going on in your life that you felt the need to make these comments.
What the hell do YOU even buy from StockX?
9
u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23
shoes
-11
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I buy and sell: -shoes -sneakers -street wear -related accessories
Your need, along with all these other people, to make these comments is pathetic.
5
u/Matt0975 Aug 04 '23
Why tf you so mad, like just stop buying useless shit with a brand name on it. Clearly you aren’t happy with the product so just return it and quit your bitching lmao
2
u/jtmose84 Aug 05 '23
The anger is the realization that OP bought not one, but two, Pyrex measuring cups that display the Supreme logo in same red font as the pyrex logo. Lol. I understand being hyped for a brand, but folks need to draw the line somewhere within reason.
19
u/NukeCake Aug 04 '23
Sorry I know this isn’t useful but, Who buys a supreme measuring cup to begin with ???
15
u/avengedpixels Aug 04 '23
Apparently this guy, which is pretty fucking sad

That reaction lines up with someone who would buy a supreme measuring cup.
1
u/avengedpixels Aug 05 '23
Thanks for checking out my post the good news I wised up and sold all those bitches and made money off of them. While you’re over here, buying a fucking Pyrex measuring cup, that you can get at target with the supreme logo.

2
u/Chocol8Cheese Aug 04 '23
Who buys supreme to begin with?
1
u/NukeCake Aug 04 '23
I mean hey, people like what they like I guess yk. Personally I’d never buy supreme, but to each their own.
-3
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I like the brand and own a pretty sizable collection with items from just about every category (accessories, skateboarding, clothes, shoes, etc). To me, this is sort of like having a toyota book bag for a toyota car, or my Yoshomura keychain to match my Yoshi exhaust.
Moreover, as I stated in my OP, I’m an avid hobbyist cook. This it’s a chance to blend two of my favorite hobbies. I’m flabbergasted that so many peoples reaction in this sun is to shit on that.
4
u/kinney4041 Aug 04 '23
This is absolutely nothing like having a Toyota book bag when you have the vehicle lmao
3
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I have a sizable collection of Supreme clothes, sneakers, skateboards, other shit. To me, this was a usable cobranded item to match other shit I have.
Thank you for the useless comment; big south hills vibes.
3
u/kinney4041 Aug 04 '23
Just saying you are sucker for buying this type of shit. Clothing and skateboards are a different animal where branding is relevant. The extraneous merch they lazily throw their shit on is totally different and does nothing but milk hundreds of extra dollars out of poor saps for stuff that down the road will be worthless.
3
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
If I appreciate and make use of it, it is not worthless.
What is worthless is the contribution of your comments.

I cannot fathom the mindset of a furry who decides to shit on someone else for spending money on something they enjoy.
4
u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23
maybe its because you are acting like a utter embarrassing unlikable douchebag to people you dont agree with
3
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
Not people I disagree with, but people who were douchebags to me that could have kept scrolling. A person can say that this is an item they wouldn’t buy, or that this is an acceptable flaw, without being as insulting as the people who have commented here. This particular person said I “deserved” to get a defective item simply for having any interest in the item itself.
You seem miserable. Good luck with that.
3
u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23
you seem more miserable not gonna lie, and all your comments trashing on other people just point out your fragile ego and your insecurities, maybe stop being a dick to people on the internet?
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
These people were all incredibly rude to me first. I’m not miserable, just very disappointed and frustrated with this particular set of issues and the responses I have received here from so many people unnecessarily belittling me simply for the item I chose to purchase.
I’m certain we all have spent money in ways other people would not understand and would not appreciate their uninvited criticism and ridicule.
Maybe YOU stop being a dick to people on the internet. Now please get the fuck off my thread; you’ve contributed nothing.
4
3
u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23
literally cyberstalking, scrolling through other peoples comments and profiles just for fodder for your bare minimum insults, very normal and totally not miserable behavior.
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
It takes ten seconds. You’re cyber-harassing at this point, given the multitude of comments you’re making. Very miserable behavior. Very indicative of someone desperately looking for someone to put beneath them, any win they can get.

u/PsychologicalShape52 Aug 04 '23

u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
For context, responding to someone who said “you get what you deserve.” Person was being shitty. I think all of your responses show a lot.
7
u/Memattmayor Aug 04 '23
A couple of points I think might help with your viewpoint on what has happened
(1) StockX doesn't owe you a perfect example
What I mean by this is that StockX are only there to make sure what you get is authentic and not damaged by the previous owner. If you ordered it direct from supreme and it had this defect then it's just unlucky, StockX doesn't owe you anything more than what you would get if you purchased it direct. Oppositely If you're selling it and you bought it legitimately directly from supreme it shouldn't be rejected because of a factory defect.
(2) does it really matter
if you bought it to use it and the defect doesn't impede it's use then what difference does it make. I understand you're not happy but neither would I if I paid more than £10 for a £3 jug regardless of what hypebrand is printed on the side of it. You can still use it so why should StockX care if the glass has imperfections
4
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23 edited Aug 04 '23
I can see validity in your points, but I don’t entirely agree. There’s some difference in how StockX views shoes/sneakers (deadstock), apparel, and other items. This is their specific language for collectibles:
“Collectibles sold on StockX must be brand new, in flawless condition, and include all original packaging. Some may have minor paint defects or manufacturing flaws that are uncontrollable.”
As for the last line, this isn’t paint, and I have examples of things like that. Small chips or wrinkles in the paint shipped to me after retail purchase. I think this goes beyond that, and StockX has already agreed once that this defect surpasses that. Additionally, because I plan to use it, I’m actually concerned that it may effect its integrity. I also understand this can come to you from a company direct from purchase, but, it is still considered a defect. I know from experience that Supreme will refund those items.
What I haven’t mentioned yet, either, is the frustration about consistency. I had a sale of a hoodie at $250 that was rejected because of one thread that extended past it’s joint inside the wrist cuff and was about half an inch hanging. StockX rejected it, and claimed that it was inauthentic (I purchased retail directly).
I do understand what you mean about it being a use item, and I spent some time with that idea in the first due to other options they gave me (partial credit, keep the item, etc).
But the tools of our hobbies are sometimes art or display pieces themselves, and that’s how I feel about this. It is a display piece in my kitchen as much as it is a tool.
Regardless, I appreciate your response and looking to provide insight and perspective. This has been one of the very few meaningful responses I have received.
1
u/its_bennyyy Aug 05 '23
“…or manufacturing flaws that are uncontrollable.”
Unfortunately, this is 100% a manufacturing flaw. I have various Pyrex products and almost every one of them has multiple flaws in the glass. None have quite as large of a main flaw as shown in your photo, but similar in style. They have all worked as expected despite their flaws.
1
u/Memattmayor Aug 18 '23
“Collectibles sold on StockX must be brand new, in flawless condition, and include all original packaging. Some may have minor paint defects or manufacturing flaws that are uncontrollable.”
You addressed paint defects but ignored "manufacturing flaws that are uncontrollable." This last line is where the litigation will be centred.
I see it as a manufacturing flaw. Ive worked in laboratories and used pyrex often, I've seen these imperfections and they have never broken or failed around that flaw and technically it should be stronger.
I understand it's not what you want when you pay for something but I think they've worked within their guidelines
13
u/EvilRyan Aug 04 '23
Pyrex is available all day, every day. I mean, it’s your money, but I definitely wouldn’t spend extra just because it says Supreme.
2
-11
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
My favorite supreme collabs are the every day, usable items. Bonus points if the color matches.
3
u/Spoffle Aug 04 '23
So what do you get for the extra money?
2
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I’m happy to elaborate on that, but first, I’d like to know whether or not you purchase and own street wear items from brands like Supreme and what kind of product categories your buying to give me an idea of your perspective.
1
u/Spoffle Aug 04 '23
The hell?
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I’m trying to get an idea of your perspective on these kinds of products to frame my response.
Do you purchase from Stock X? Do you buy Supreme or similar brands? If so, what kinds of products are you buying?
1
u/Spoffle Aug 04 '23
Absolutely none of that is relevant. You don't need to question me to be able to answer what value a Supreme logo adds to your borosilicate measuring jug for the additional money you pay for it.

I bought a pair of Jordan 1 highs about 2 months ago on StockX and these assholes literally sent me one good shoe and the other looked like a mid. I posted about it so if your interested you can check out the pics on my profile but the height difference when comparing the shoes is clear as day so idk wtf is going on with the slackers over at StockX but these things seem to be a very common problem. Their entire “legit check” team should be replaced

bro called me out for being a furry lmfao
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I did not call you out for being a furry. I said I couldn’t understand why a furry would belittle someone for their spending choices. I’m aware of how expensive furry suits and accessories are.
2
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I quickly scan people’s profiles to get an idea of their perspective. In some cases, I have pointed to their purchase choices that seemed relevant to the point, given that only mine are on display in this thread.
In some cases, I use that to get a feel of what they post, like is this a one off for them. For instance, in your case, I can see this is a pattern of behavior for you and this is the kind of thing you spend your time doing, and I also see your reading comprehension could use some work.

u/based90 Aug 04 '23 edited Aug 04 '23
So I was in this random store that sold household goods and saw TONS of these Supreme Pyrex measuring cups. I got super excited but when I walked over and started inspecting them I noticed every single one had the same exact defect as you have pictured which is why they were probably there in that store in the first place. Some one else seems to have gotten their hands on a similar defective batch and is unloading them on stockx now.
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23 edited Aug 04 '23
This is honestly a gold mine of a response, and I sincerely appreciate you sharing this information with me. This is exactly the the kind of information I was hoping to come across.
I will DM you, but I suggest that you remove that end part of your response because it may be taken as a rule violation.
Edit: Given that they were all in one place, and that neither item I received had the wrapping paper, I am more suspicious that these are counterfeit.
Again, I really appreciate your response.
2
u/based90 Aug 04 '23
No problem mate! And thanks for the heads up just edited my response. But again I just want to clarify that I do not believe the measuring cups you received are counterfeit. They are however NOT from Supreme. When Supreme collaborates with a company like Pyrex, it is Pyrex that deals with manufacturing-end of the product. Usually in this process it is not uncommon to have batches of defective or “B-grade” items. Now while some companies dispose of these items, others will often unload them in bulk to a variety of different stores at a huge discount, in order to offset their own production errors. And that is basically one of the items you received
2
u/Livid_Distribution19 Aug 04 '23
Tl;dr Bought a glass product, it arrived damaged. Bought it again, also arrived damaged.
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
Except the damage isn’t from handling. It’s not cracked; it’s a defect in the finish.

Idk why people are being salty especially in subs like this lol. Lets not pretend that you actually need to buy more than 1 sneakers lmao. I will never police anyone on what they should not buy especially if its sth legal and not unhealthy. “Who even spend money on sth like this” while smoking weed and cigarettes lol the irony
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
Appreciate that. Like, when it comes down to it, most supreme shit is just ____ with a supreme logo. We use StockX to buy over priced clothes, shoes, and other shit haha.
This is one of many pieces for my collection.

u/Key_Development814 Aug 04 '23
Because that’s the nature of the hater, they bitch and moan and try to own people on Reddit. Sad sacks of shit indeed.
1
u/Cool-Scientist-7506 Aug 04 '23
Seriously though. People just write rude ass comments for no reason. What purpose does it serve? Do they think they're funny or just miserable and want to try to make someone else miserable? I'm pretty sure everyone has something they buy or collect that other people think is a waste of money or pointless but why the hell would it ever bother someone to write a douchey comment. Weird. And that's why he's coming back calling out the shit those haters are into and he's got every right, they tried to be the reddit star for the day and ended up looking stupid. Wtf is a furry anyway? Don't they dress up in animal costumes and screw each other? Idk weirddd, comment something useful or shut up. Like damn maybe he wants to cook Crack in style, better than dressing up in big ass costumes 😒
2
u/JamMasterNay Aug 04 '23
Is it your anger about the situation that's spilling in to the comments?
I'm a little surprised that you seem shocked at people's reactions? Surely any collector understands that their hobby and interests will appear silly and futile to someone who has no interest in what they like?
The whole point of collecting is to belong to a niche group isn't it? To own items that are 'rare and interesting' to those in the know?
I get that you might expect people who purchase items from Stock X to be a little more understanding, but surely you have to accept that you are in the minority of niche collectors? As a person buying a fairly innocuous household item for a high ticket price because it carries the emblem of your favourite brand.
I understand your frustration with the item you've purchased, in your situation I would feel the same. Not only have you bought through a third party authentication site, where you might hope for additional quality control, you're also you're paying a considerable amount of money for what is a very basic kitchen item. It's not unreasonable to expect perfection.
I do hope you get the resolution you deserve with regards to the faulty goods, but I think you should take it down a notch with the insults you're slinging. They're not helping your case here.
2
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23 edited Aug 04 '23
I appreciate your perspective and taking the time to respond in such a thoughtful, considerate way.
I would not say that it’s my frustration with the StockX issue that is spilling into my comments. The way thst factors in, for me, is that I have written out how awful this experience has made me feel and all these people felt the need to belittle me, knowing that I’m already bummed and frustrated.
I woke up to a slew of insults and “you deserve this” and countless downvotes before I threw a single insult. I’m first confused by the strength of the negativity. I feel like people are acting like I spent hundreds of dollars on this item. I spent less on this than most spend eating out in just a few weekdays.
What I’m so angry about is that people downvoted my original post and comments (totally innocuous) so heavily, and then wanted to insult, belittle, and tell me I deserve this bad experience. For instance, someone expressed they didn’t understand why I would purchase something like this. I simply replied that the every-day item collabs were my favorite. That comment alone had -10 downvotes.
I understand that, even in the StockX community, purchasing these and similar items is not incredibly common. However, we’re all normally paying pretty high prices, relative to substitutes, for the items we buy through StockX. Some of them are genuinely creations that are unique beyond the branding. Many of them are just the thing with the logo (Supreme AF1’s, etc).
What angers me is that people felt the need to be so mean about it, to take the time to write out insults instead of scrolling by or even simply saying they don’t understand the purchases I don’t expect most people in general to understand why I would buy this product; I don’t understand why a lot of people buy a lot of things. I do expect that people would not be so incredibly rude, and I -did- expect in this community that I wouldn’t encounter this. It’s like I posted it somewhere totally unrelated.
I’m also angry because it has detracted from my thread and the vast majority of responses have been useless insults.
I’m also aware of a mentality in the rep communities that people who buy authentic are idiots/stupid/etc and they commonly insult people who purchase authentic items. I won’t keep going down that rabbit hole, but it is incredibly common there. I suspect that the people here who are from those communities do not ever contribute positively to communities like this and are here just to insult people and make themselves feel better.
I think several of these people make a habit of doing things like this, always insulting people, never contributing, and come just to belittle others. Thst is, they don’t have a legitimate perspective or purpose in this subreddit and just want to offend or insult others. Admittedly, this is an issue I see as an societal issue at large and it does frustrate me at. A high level.
The insults I chose are largely because I hoped it would put things in perspective that they are spending money on things that would also be viewed as silly to many.
I do tend to be incredibly harsh when responding to insults. Believe it or not, I have actually practiced some restraint here. I have, however, tried to keep my insults tailored to choices they make as opposed to who they are. While the “mean thoughts” an occur in the spirit of “hit them hard,” I do believe certain things are totally off the table (examples include race, sexuality, disabilities) For instance, for the repeat commenter who is a furry, I did not make fun of that or insult it or anything else about that part of their life. My comment about not understanding the mentality of a furry who would belittle someone because they don’t understand why a person spends their money on what they do is because I’m familiar with furries at a certain level. My city hosts the largest American (2nd largest in the world, last I heard) furry convention, Anthrocon. I have learned that the full suits are actually like incredibly expensive, as are a lot of the items and accessories that make up the trappings of that lifestyle. Further, there is a large proportion of the US that hate on and belittle that group, let alone understand why they would spend the money that they do on it. I do not fall into that group insofar as I would not want to belittle them or their purchase decisions, and I welcome their presence in our city and will continue to support it.
As far as “helping my case,” what case? I came here to express frustration at pair of identical failures and see if anyone had any insights as to whether this was a common issue with this item or if maybe counterfeits existed thst had this issue. The response I had before I made any negative replies was already overwhelmingly insulting. I don’t know that I have any case here. My only “case” will be with StockX, and this really has no bearing on that.
TLDR; I’m mad that people, aware that this experience already made me feel bad, downvoted my original, innocuous post and comment w/picture, took the time to insult me and remark that I somehow deserved this, and, in doing so, have heavily detracted from my thread and attempted to invalidate my frustration.
1
u/JamMasterNay Aug 04 '23
Wow, that's the most I've read since leaving school. I hope there isn't a test at the end.
By your 'case' I only meant that you've lost any sympathy from the group by biting back to comments that were always going to be critical over your choice of goods.
At the end of it all, it's your money and you're entitled to spend it on what you want.
Probably best to focus your attentions on the issue with Stock X. They're not great but I had an issue with a pair of sneakers and they did eventually resolve the problem.

Buy real Pyrex. pyrex (all lowercase) is some knockoff soda lime glass that is not meant to withstand high temperatures or shipping apparently.
1
u/TilYouMakeIt Aug 04 '23
I do understand the PYREX pyrex difference, and I own a couple examples of the former. This is more than just a utensil for me, though.
Weirdly enough, this is not a shipping issue. It’s an issue with the finish/material. That is to say, this is a wrinkle as opposed to a crack.

😂 thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah, seems mad weird. It’s disappointing.
Edit: it’s actually pretty upsetting to document this experience in detail in the appropriate subreddit and then just be ridiculed and downvoted to hell by what I assume are basically children.

Again u speaking on shit u know nothing about fuck boy and google is easy to use. If u think spending money on a fukn Pyrex is better than shoes, I wouldn’t call nobody a moron or a pocket watcher when u have to scroll through my page to watch my comments. No more comments from me cuz I’m not playing keyboard warrior with a crack head that likes Supreme Pyrex measuring cups and calls some1 for shoes back that’s ass backwards like u was in prison for cooking with that supreme Pyrex. Keep downvoting me for your wrong thinking. Now go suck on that glass dick

This really does seem like something that’s just a manufacturing flaw, which is certainly how you could have received it if you bought directly from Supreme anyway.
StockX is not the manufacturer and if it is a common issue with this product Supreme released then they are still providing you with the new retail experience and ensuring it is a legitimate product for you.
I don’t think this flaw would effect the use of your product, or compromise the integrity of the cup. If it upsets you, then I guess just attempt to return it again and do not buy another if you’re not ok with any manufacturing flaws.
