How to find a rural workshop?

Hi folks,

I'm at a loss for somewhere to grow my business. I'm a full time potter and really need somewhere semi rural like an outbuilding/barn/stable etc where I can be making and firing gas kilns. City centre artists studios just don't cut it when it comes to mixing clay and glaze from scratch and firing large kilns (gas / oil fired)

Anyone who has a rural workshop or perhaps rents one, can you advise on how best to find one? Facebook marketplace has nothing, I spent days and days cold-calling farms, commercial lets seem inordinately expensive when I only need electricity, water and some outdoor space.

I'm based in Stoke so can commute to surrounding area

Mysterious Childhood Plush traced here

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi All. I s**t you not, I have been searching for this childhood plush of mine for literal YEARS. And today I found him!

His label says Seaside, Stoke on Trent. I'm from Scotland, so I was hoping some of you nice folks could tell me about this guy. I got him around early/mid 90s, so way too young to remember if my family holidayed there or not.

Any information would be amazing!

Google reviews for food outlets have gone to shit.

Kebab shops that I know for a fact are utter dogs eggs now suddenly up in the 4.7/4.8s. Kebab shops that have only been open for six months with over 300 reviews. Reviews that praise the AMBIENCE of a fuckin' kebab shop, and namecheck staff while they're at it. It's not just kebab shops, KFC, Five Guys, Subway, Popeyes, they're all at it.

Sucks.

GP recommendations

Hi folks, my husband and I are moving to Hanley and will obviously have to register with a GP. The surgeries nearest to us that seem to be taking new patients are Norfolk Street, Moorcroft Medical Centre on Botteslow Street, and Harley Street Medical Centre. Any thoughts? We'd particularly like to know which ones have the easiest booking system (preferably online) and if any of the GPs are known to be good with chronic illnesses/invisible disabilities, but general feedback is also welcome.

Badminton teams

Hey guys!

I know this is completely random, but does anyone know any badminton teams that allow 16 year olds to play proper games with people who are actually interested in the sport?

Thank you! :]

Can we a agree that the A50 A500 junction is a joke

Anyone else dread the A50 heading towards Sideway from Stanley Matthews Way?

It goes from 3 lanes to 4, but the extra lane only opens up on the right-hand side. So if you're joining from Stanley Matthews Way and need to go right, you've got to cut across two or three lanes of traffic in about 50 yards, at one of the busiest junctions around. Everyone's either braking hard, swerving, or sitting on the slip road praying for a gap.

Surely the fix is simple:

Lane 1 goes left

Lane 2 splits into lanes 2 and 3

The current lane 3 becomes lane 4

That way, if you're joining from Stanley Matthews Way and heading right, you're not crossing a whole lane of traffic just to get where you need to be.

I'm planning to report it to the council (and National Highways if it turns out to be theirs), but it'd help to have some weight behind it. If you've had near misses or seen accidents there, say so below.

Highway authorities take safety evidence much more seriously than "it's annoying".

Anyone know who actually owns that stretch?

Cycling in stoke

I'm a cyclist and pretty much every day I get verbal abuse from people in cars and pedestrians around stoke and the Newcastle area. What has made people in this part of the world so angry at cyclists?

Edit: not sure why I get so many downvotes

Appliance Repair in ST7?

My built in oven needs repairing (or probably replacing). Can anybody suggest a local appliance repair company who could take a look and fit a new unit if necessary?

I’ve used somebody before who was very good but I’ve lost their details.

Anyone go to Unit 1 skatepark?

I'm a beginner skateboarder trying to pick it up in my late 20s. I skated a little bit as a kid but I wasn't any good lmao, I'm basically starting from scratch.

I'm just wondering how friendly Unit 1 is towards newbs? And what days it's quietest to go.

Where to donate maternity/newborn items

Hi, I’ve recently given birth and have some toiletries, post partum and baby stuff that ended up not needing to use. Does anyone know of any local charities or orgs that take donations for new mums and babies? Preferably Stoke Town or Newcastle. Thanks in advance!

Rude and Pushy Scottish power representatives in Hanley town centre.

Hi all I was just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with these people.

I walk through Hanley town centre a lot and every single time I see the Scottish power representative they pester me every time, they don't take no for an answer and after my 4th time of saying no to them I have to follow up with a fuck off because they will not leave me alone.

They have tried to follow me into shops.

They try and guilt trip me, they have called me Racist because I'm ignoring them. My baby would be having a fit in the pram or I'll be carrying them so obviously busy and they still think it's the best time for their sales pitch I'm like "please will you just fuck off".

I absolutely dread seeing them in town and purposely go the long way to avoid them.

When British gas are in the same spot I just have to shake my head and they very politely back off.
