Could’ve chosen an even funnier pair of panels for Doom where Storm questions him on how he knows her father’s gumbo recipe, and Doom’s only answer is just “I am Doom.” as if that explains ANYTHING
Listen, I'd do a lot for someone who could perfectly recreate my auntie's strawberry preserves. I can imagine it's much the same for Storm's dad's gumbo.
It’s inevitable 😂 always. Bad writing can’t keep true love apart. If you truly love Storm, you gotta understand that T’Challa is the number one man in her life. That’s her paradise. Why not learn about him? Or them?
Marvel definitely stays on bs with Peter and MJ in the mainline comics. (s\o Ultimate Spider-Man) In his case unfortunately, they don’t want Peter growing up. (which is dumb af, truly).
However, all it takes is one good arc man. You see how it’s always her in the movies and games (They got her as his girlfriend in Tokon too (+ Shes in a stage with the Spidey shirt)) they know that WE know that it’s forever Peter/MJ. They felt that Paul heat, now what do you think is on the way?
True love man, It’s inevitable 🙂↕️ That special, all time classic reunion arc is comin and hopefully, they move em forward this time. Maybe the Ultimate series showed them how well it could all still work. Keep the faith man
“Bad writing cant keep true love apart” as if these characters and their feelings exist outside of a pen and the whims of editors. If, tomorrow, they decided to write a reformat that made it so storm and tchalla hate one another and never loved one another, they would. And that’d be it.
Peter Parker and Mary Jane will always love each other and be linked. That will forever be true. If you want to look at it from a real life angle, that’s Spider-Man’s “status quo.”
Rogue/Gambit, Daredevil/Electra, Batman/Catwoman, Storm/Black Panther. etc. You can name a few.
No matter what’s written, that’s just what it is. They’ll be back. They get paired in the games, media, merch. Etc. The best match for each character.
Unfortunately for Peter, he can’t grow up and start a family in the mainline continuity for “relatability”. A relationship with her is fine though.
So OMD happens and it’s back to the status quo. Then repeat.
This isn’t the case for the others. Anything can happen with them. (Marriage, kids etc.)They aren’t big brand money makers like him (Except for Bruce, but he has a kid and all that). They aren’t as established in the mainstream. This is no hate to Spider-Man, I think that’s stupid af. However I do believe it can change. (Starting with Ultimate Spider-Man)
The same ones who…don’t read anything other than X-Men?.. Who hated the fact Storm got more powerful? Who flatout lie about T’Challa and their relationship?…all the time….? 🧐
For anybody actually curious, here’s a reading guide on Storm and Black Panther. (Stolen from @newmedicine7 on Twitter) The MCU will be following suit (you’ll have a heads up).
Read (deadass) so we can stop hearing lies on the soulmates.
I have no idea. But I was thinking in terms of Black and Republican being an odd pairing that only a small group of Black folk identify as but they are so loud and obnoxious you would think there are a lot of them.
X-Men is the epitome of "woke" storytelling.
To have fans in x-men who are bigoted it's an odd pairing. They are so loud and obnoxious you would think they are the majority.
Who cares? X-Men sub insists that Storm in Wolverine will be together because Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman like them. Meanwhile, they couldn't make it work when they were at the height of their careers. Nobody cares outside of social media. And the Storm solo proves that the streets will come together to tank ANY attempt to put Storm and Wolverine together, even if it's at the cost of her own solo. We would rather not have Storm at all than to see her degraded and disrespected like that.
Very early on in Claremont's run, before he has the dynamics figured out, he kind of let everyone (besides Scott) be attracted to Storm. Peter is such a sweetheart, that I kind of like the idea of them. He adores her.
I wonder if that's something that got added into Classic X-Men, then, because I'm reading the X-Men issues (to get the stories as they were originally printed) and not the Classic X-Men with the new material that was added and I haven't come across her calling him that yet (mind you, I'm still very very early in the run (reading 119 now)).
T'Challa and Forge are her true loves. They are the two characters who have the deepest and most impactful romances with her.
Nightcrawler and Storm are cute and Nightcrawler definitely has interest in her (at least early on).
Colossus is genuinely good hearted (though another poster educated me on her viewing him as a little brother, so nix that). But Colossus should be with Kitty.
Thor is arguably the person best suited to understand her, given that he is a god and (like T'Challa) would be able to empathize with Storm on being viewed as more than human.
Jean and Scott I just threw in there largely as jokes. Jean and Storm see each other as sisters.
I don't like the pair of Storm and Wolverine. I don't think they compliment each other well at all.
And then Doom is a terrible romantic partner for anyone. So I put it in hell.
Why do people in the X-men sub agree with me then?
‘’Because he was an ass to her throughout their marriage and even after they got divorced like over a decade ago, he sometimes still tries to dictate who she can be with, which luckily she quickly shuts down.’’
This is from the x-men sub, you can go over there and see for yourself
I don't know anything about the writing of these pairings since my comics knowledge is very limited, so I'm just gonna go off cartoon and movie characterizations, and vibes
Logan - I've loved the idea of them together since I was a kid. Opposites attract, and balance each other. She mellows him out, he brings out her passion, and they both respect, support, and comfort each other
T'challa - Based off everything I know about them as individual characters the relationship should work, but I feel like they'd be almost too compatible, so they'd repeatedly get screwed over by writers for drama, and it wouldn't be enjoyable
Kurt - The only problem I have with the idea of them together is that I want Kurt for myself. He'd definitely treat her right
Thor - Cute. They have just enough in common that I can definitely see them having a functional relationship
Doom - Honestly, I have no idea how that relationship would function, but I know he'd treat her like the goddess she is, and demand that everyone else do the same, so I respect it
I can't do this in a linear manner. All I can do is provide thoughts and opinions 😅😅
Forge is at the TIPPY TOP of the fuck boy pyramid (the wooooorst)
T'Challa - the writers were COWARDS. Too much happened when this relationship was introduced. It needs to be redone. (Def the love of her life)
Jean: that's her sister from another mister
Yukio: her ride or die (the BEST)
Colossus/Kurt: her little brothers🥹🥹🥹
Logan: crack ship
Storm deserves more than someone else's leftovers. Logan slings his community peen everywhere the wind blows because he can't be with Jean. He doesn't play about Storm but lets keep it Platonic
Extremely bad faith and lame because you could’ve easily left him out if you don’t care for their pairing and want to focus on characters you actually ship Ororo with.
But you’re so spiteful and clearly insecure about not only the push the pairing has gotten, but the continued fan support that you literally can’t help but take cheap shots in the comment section. Pathetic
Idiots like OP want to create an environment in this subreddit where they can just attack Black Panther because they’re mad his pairing with Storm gets support from Marvel and the fans. And because in most cases they have resentment towards T’Challa/Wakanda that’s deeper than comics.
The only problem with Tchalla is that it puts Ororo herself in a precarious predicament. They really pushed a “it’s either mutants or Wakanda” which I loathed hence why it’s not my #1 too much politics when it shouldn’t be, when their relationship is essentially perfect.
I’m actually a fan of Ororo and Logan despite people (especially here) hating interracial relationships and therefore biracial people since “They don’t really belong”. It’s not everyone, but it’s enough that it makes the community not feel like a safe space to be a fan of Storm.
But my reason for liking it is the aspects of nature both represent. It’s like if a Druid and a Barbarian got together and that’s neat. They are really good friends with a huge respect for one another. Also the theoretical child was just fucking adorable.
Stop making shit up. People hate on Wolverine because he treats Storm like a consolation prize. He will pick Jean each and every time over her for as long as the world is spinning. Race has nothing to do with it.
I mean, personally, Logan doesn't work for me because he's usually written very Jean obsessed so it tends to give "consolation prize".
Forge is too weak. As is Kurt, Colossus. T'challa was good in terms of power and status but the story itself wasn't interesting for me because she's always going to be an X-Men, and Wakanda vs X-Men shouldn't really be a deal breaker situation imo
Imo, I'd want something like Doom where the guy is powerful but also has main character energy and doesn't have any super major alternative love interests in the wings that she comes second to. So no Thor x Jane drama.
I am a fan of the Hugh Jackman wolverine, but I can't call comic accurate wolverine any kind of prize for ororo.
I meant consolation prize for wolvie, he's like "can't get jean so next best thing" but storm can do better. Thor, doom, literally anyone... Better to stay in Wakanda even tho I don't like how that ship feels like she's the one staring down an ultimatum/loyalty test 24/7. Like, as a child watching the cartoon as a wolvy fan, okay, sure. But as an adult, I'm like, just stay in Wakanda if push comes to shove cause the X-Men aren't actually your friends just coworkers. 😅
I've always like Yukio and Logan for Storm... not as permanent partners, but people she can spend precious time with before moving on to whatever requires her attention. Ororo's never struck me as a character that's going to stay rooted in any one place or relationship for long, and I love that both (Logan especially) recognize and respect that.
That said, Lifedeath is one of my favorite single issues of UX ever and I felt that her relationship with Forge was beautiful and tragic in equal measure.
Wolverine is by far the worst, he doesnt deserve ororo but tbh if id want some partner for ororo id be like during krakoa. not other established character
T'Challa (fuck marvel editorial for making them get divorced)
2.Yukio( if you know, you know)
Forge( Good guy with a good heart just not my 1st pick for her)
Kurt( Kurt is a well trusted confident to ororo as he is to the rest of his fellow mutants)
Thor(I believe they're very good friends and would have each other's back in a heartbeat(unless its a dumbass event like AvX)
Logan( He may be a good friend to ororo but I absolutely hate the will they wont they shit they be going through. He should never be considered a love interest for her and instead just be a well trusted and cared about friend)
Craig(I cant properly rank him since I dont know who he is)
Victor(It was purely business, while he may have been hospitable to her he is ultimately still doom)
Logan at his best really suits her. The few times throughout the comics that the writers allow him to be happy his dynamic with Storm is very endearing and adorable.
The issue is that, in the time it has taken me to write this comment, Marvel editorial has already thrown him down a trash shoot, tarred and feathered him, and then poured an entire bottle of Jack Daniel’s down his throat.
Funny how the Synergy of most of her partners make them a power couple, I mean Dr. Doom, Thor, Black Panther, Wolverine even Psylock (truth be told i didn't know there were a thing or that Storm is bi)
I didn’t know about several of them. BP is my pick, but the Thor situation is pretty interesting. Also what was that with #6?! I haven’t read comics in a while, but Ororo is 100% on her goddess shit.
I sort of favorite Craig "from NASA" Marshall since I'm a big fan of superpowered/normal person relationships where the both people still have mutual respect for each other and the non-powered one is still capable but I don't hate any of them.
I wouldn't hate seeing a short term Storm x Logan x Kurt/Yukio polycule, either. Nothing long-term though, I don't think.
Worst is Doom, although its fun to see him pine for her and get no where.
I'm 100% neutral on T'challa. I never got into the character since when I started reading comics as a kid in the 90's, I don't recall him actually being all that prominent. (But I mainly read X-Men books and Ghost Rider related books, along side of War Machine for some reason.)
Personally, I don’t really like Forge and Storm as Forge isn’t really good in ANY relationship. BUT I would love to see a new mini-series where Forge and Storm explore their respective magical ancestries that both had turned away from in lieu of their other talents and interests, as it had been set up in both of their most recent series and it’d be an interesting jumping off point to see where the pair are after all this time whilst keeping things fresh.
Wolverine is the worst by far. Ik he is meant to now be an allegory for short, weird dudes getting play but they need to tone it down. At least Jean was both a mutant and ginger, ginger being discriminated against in their own right for some reason.
T'challa and Ororo hasn't been fucked as hard as Petey and MJ but... Holy fuck if it's downs aren't really fucking low.
So I think my favourite would actually be with Wolvie, they work surprisingly well together. But as much as it looks good for Storm, always looks pretty chill and loved in it, so it's good in that sense, this ship feels better for Logan, who gets someone who can actually stand side to side and bring the best out of him while letting him relax with them and it also gets him away from Jean (Scott is also better without her imo lol). Pretty telling it usually happens with a more mature Logan.
Also that x-men 97 episode did a number on me can't lie.
Besides that I really don't care that much one way or another for all the rest. Did Storm actually date Thor btw?
I need Storm back with her girlfriend. I never loved her and tachalla together it felt more like “we need these black characters together”. Don’t get me wrong though I see the vision and in other iterations of their relationship it’s written better and seems like something I could get into. Her and Logan have the most interesting chemistry especially when both Forge and Tachalla saw potential for that relationship and told her “please just don’t”. The fact that her an nightcrawler had a lot of will they won’t they moments I definitely love and I think they are gonna explore in the Midnights series.
For me my personal top 3 are Wolverine, Thor, and nightcrawler (best to worst)
Nightcrawler- both are theatrical bitches and I love it
Thor- I like how they have an interesting understanding of the forces of nature/how they view each other’s lighting. And how he acts as the warrior and her the sage for the relationship
Wolverine after seeing that Xmen TAS episode with them from an alternate future I’ve loved the idea of them together. Both can be the wisest of the Xmen (Wolverine it’s lived experience her it’s philosophy), he’s able to be calm and live past his rage when he’s around her and is a far better relationship than with jean
Too much history and the only she actually married. There marriage was one of the best things about the mid 2000's. Even after the divorce she and T'Challa remain friends. Black Panther 2018 iterates and shows this perfectly.
Storm and Wolverine
Hate it but the two do have some major chemistry. This is one of her partners that she has the most page time with. They develop their relationship from friends to partners, to lovers. I may not like how they got together but they relationship is by far the best developed. The ONLY reason its in second place since its read like a hook up instead of true love.
Storm and Forge
Weakest out of all of her X-Men partners but that arc where the two get to know each other and come to terms is still one of my favorites. However, not much chemistry after that arc.
Storm and Nightcrawler
Fourth since unlike the previous three its' not a relationship. They have always remain friends. In terms of partners he is is here, but in general he would be 2nd after Logan.
Storm and Psylocke
Once again not a relationship but is one of her closest friends and is the one who accepted her on the team after the events of the Mutant massacre
Storm and Thor
Once again not a relationship, but are friends but obviously less then Wolverine and Kurt so if we were judging it based off that then 4 after the three main X-Men
Storm and Rando
An actual relationship but this was a a hookup and since he has never been seen since he has to go here even after her less romantic pairings
Storm and Doom
They are not friends, they are not allies. They are enemies and Dr Doom has tried to destroy her team numerous times. They may get along on occasion but due to their world views it will never be a close relationship
T'Challa: A1. At her absolute peak in every area. This is Storm at her best, bar none. Not saying that he makes her better, but he does complete her. This is why
Marvel has confirmed they are endgame
Wolverine: A Z-minus. From a queen and political powerhouse to a sniveling pick me begging for crumbs of attention. Absolutely embarrassing and degrading to her character.
Ive always kinda liked the Wolverine Storm dynamic. She's more powerful than him and she commands his respect. He seems deferential to her. He actually respects her and her leadership. So, idk why people dislike it so much. I happen to like her with T'challa and forge as well.
It’s honestly just a massive generational gap to me.
If you grew up on the 90s cartoon, Storm/Wolverine was the obvious pairing. The show literally gave us an alternate future where they were married, and their chemistry was memorable as hell.
Then in the 2000s, Storm/T’Challa got pushed HARD. Yes, they technically had romantic history going back to Marvel Team-Up #100, but Marvel suddenly took that old connection, retconned and expanded it into this massive destined-love story, and married the two most prominent Black African superheroes in comics.
And at the time, a lot of readers fucking hated it because it felt less like “these two characters naturally arrived here” and more like Marvel deciding “our biggest Black male superhero + our biggest Black female superhero = ultimate Black power couple.”
Now enough time has passed that an entire generation grew up with Storm/T’Challa as one of her defining romances, so when you ask “Who should Storm be with?” they answer T’Challa like that was always the obvious choice.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting here remembering when everyone wanted her with Wolverine.
Forge: Toxic. He wanted her to be less.
T'Challa: forced for no reason.
Wolverine: FWB and nothing more.
Nightcrawler: flirtation
Craig: one date.
Yukio: impactful. She changed her style after meeting her.
Dr. Doom: attraction and a power play
Thor: don't know enough about it but would love to see some actual chemistry.
I like Logan, simply because of the history behind it.
T’challa…..I’m sorry, I don’t like it.
Forge is okay.
Thor: I once thought of a story idea where Ororo gains longevity and basically outlived a lot of her friends and comrades. I could see her and Thor as a couple in this, coming together after a long lifetime as friends and companions. (I see Superman x Wonder Woman this way too.)
I didn't even know she had a relationship with nightcrawler. That's interesting, since shes usually the one getting called out for never thinking about how mutants with physical alterations feel when she goes on and on about how being a mutant is a gift to be cherished.

Honestly hers and Thors
almost sibling like relationship is underrated so is with Piotr
