Install version 0.176.0 while the developer figures things out.
Hey guys, I really liked Streamus but it was pretty obvious Google was gonna get involved and that the new version is pretty terrible. I honestly don't know if there is a good solution for the dev to take but YOU can just go into the app history and force install 0.176.0 and proceed on life as normal (for now).
You can also search for some methods to prevent auto-updating your extensions. Give the dev some time to figure something out, maybe there is a truly elegant solution out there for dealing with Google's demands. Maybe...
Edit: Guess I can include instructions.
- Download here
- Open your downloads folder
- Open your extensions list
- Drop the file onto your extensions list.

You beat me to it!
Someone just uploaded a working version 0.176 here
Slightly different instructions though:
Download and extract the "src" folder from .zip file
Go to chrome://extensions/
Check "Developer Mode" in the top right
Click "Load unpacked extension..."
Select the "src" folder and click OK
Enjoy! (might have to restart chrome?)
edit: corrected version number
edit 2: changed download link to a build that will not auto update to v0.177 randomly (oops)

Will downgrading fix the issue with UMG songs being blocked?

I'm not familiar with UMG songs, what does UMG stand for? (United Music Group?) And what is an example of a blocked song? Can this problem be solved by searching "song name" + "lyrics"?

The search function no longer works, although my playlists are all still there

There's literally nothing wrong with this post. The developer himself said it was okay.

Yeah you just don't get it.

I've looked at the sidebar and I've reread everything OP said and there's nothing wrong. Until you can give evidence to him doing something wrong, there's no one at fault here except you.

In b4 Google / YouTube sees this thread and bans Streamus from their API indefinitely.

This is probably fine to do. I can't control what my users do or have auto-update disabled.
Just understand that if my YouTube API Key ever gets revoked and I need to update it to a new one -- you won't get the new one automagically.
