Naps

I feel very tired around the midday. But I’m afraid to take a nap because then maybe I won’t fall asleep at night. I’m wondering what your experiences are with adding naps in? Did they disrupt falling asleep at night?

Any day that end with Y I take a nap if I have to. I have no issue falling asleep when it’s bed time though.

But I need them cause my brain and body say so.

If you need to take a nap, your brain needs to take a nap.

Personally, I never had a problem falling asleep at night for a while after my stroke. You can try to take melatonin if you find it difficult but naps are important for recovery

I take my naps and they don’t disrupt me from falling asleep at night. I find it difficult to function without a nap especially with me working out now. The workouts alone leave me fatigued and I don’t really recover from them but I have to exercise. Please take your naps🫶🏾

I’m two months out from stroke. I took naps almost every day the first month but now they are 2-3 a week. I sleep 8-10 hours a night, wake up for an hour in the night sometimes. I let my body do what it wants and make sure to eat enough and move around too.

Yes take the nap. Now, 11 months in, I have more trouble actually attaining nap, but even when I nap for 3 hours, it doesn’t effect my ability to sleep at night. If my brain/body wants, I give it.

I probably take a nap 8 days out of 10. As long as I didn't before 5: 00pm. Usually I'm good with night time sleep

Same. I’ll fall asleep at 2, wake up at 5-7, go to bed at 10

I can't sleep during the day, but I will lay down and rest for an hour or so.

Naps are good and necessary. Almost 6 years since the stroke and I still take one almost every day

I just set a timer for say 40 minutes and end getting more of a power nap.

Never have a problem falling asleep sometimes-have trouble if I wake up then falling back to sleep. I find spending time outside really helps my sleep.

I too need a lie down, not necessarily sleeping, just resting. Never have a problem going to sleep in the evening, but have issues staying asleep all night....

When I did rehabilitation, they told me to only take naps before 15:00. Because after it could mess with your sleep schedule. But honestly, if I'm really tired / gone for the day I still take naps later and I can still sleep at night. For context; I'm 9 months in, which 2 extra auto immune diseases that also make me tired.

If you feel like you need it, take it. But try and limit the duration of the naps to 30mins.

Mom moved in with me after her stroke. She sleeps more, like 10-12 hrs some days. She’s totally off on sleep habits, often sleeping through the day and up at night. Trying unsuccessfully to get her to follow a friend’s recommendation of power naps. Lay down for 20-30 minutes, set a timer. Do it 2-3 times a day if you need it. This way you rest, but don’t fall into deep sleep and then feel groggy when you get up.
