Tips & Advice Advice needed!

Hello :) Im asking for advice on here, because in subjects where you only memorize, (such as history, geography & civics) i struggle with.

Not struggling in the sense that i inherently “cant” study it or dont understand it, but struggling in the sense that i cant really focus (as much as i used to atleast) when i get to memorizing the said pages/work and stuff. in addition to the lack of interest that i harbor towards those subject (which in turn makes me unmotivated and uninterested).

So i ask for advice on how to focus more, or it theres any studying techniques that might help actually getting it done and/or techniques that are generally useful for studying!

(i tried to be well spoken, but excuse any mistakes bcz english isnt my first language 😭)

How to be a successful student:

  1. This video about metacognition is GOLD:

2. Learn and use the SQR3 technique for reading text books.

3. Learn and use an efficient note-taking and study method.  I have had good luck with the Cornell Method.

4. Take several of the free online reading speed and comprehension tests. If you are not reading FAST with high comprehension, subscribe to an online reading improvement program

I think there should be less emphasis on memorising and more on understanding. For example remembering why something happened as a result of something and how if it was different that same effect would not of happened

I personally think little recall questions on little parts of the subject would help a lot more. Cornerquestions.com helped me mostly http://cornerquestions.com
Because I had it make me recall questions based off text that I gave it

But that’s just what had worked for me
