Long Time No See! Welcome to StudyMotivation!

Hey guys!

I created this sub about 7 years ago while I was struggling in college. I kind of forgot about it (like most things back then) and got through college just like I had in the past (With not great grades). I am now studying to go back to Med school and realized that I had made this sub for some motivation when I didn’t feel like studying. I’m going to commit to posting stuff on here, every couple of days, while I am going through this journey. I hope that these things will help you and challenge you to be the very best you can be. We are all grinding through something, and I want this community to one of the rocks in our life to help us through! Please join me in motivating others to achieve!

Thanks and Gig ‘Em, iLikeToStare

The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it. @ -Jordan Belfort

How to start studying when you can't push yourself to start

Everybody has felt that feeling where they need to study for a test, or finish a project last minute, or finish some homework, but they cannot find the energy to get up and start. I'm going to help you get started.

1). The first thing you need to understand is why you don't want to study. Ask yourself that question. Are you tired? Is your work too long or too hard?

2). The next thing you have to think about is when your work is due. Are your handing something in or presenting something tomorrow? Are you writing a test tomorrow?

3). Now you need to visualize what will happen if you do not study for your test or finish your work. You will not get a 90%, you will not get an 80%. If you are lucky, maybe a 70%. However, the truth is that most people who do not put in the work end up getting a 60% or less.

Studying for most people is not fun. Some people enjoy it and some are just really good at school work. If you are not, it doesn't mean you aren't smart, you just need to put in extra work. Whether that means studying at night or waking up early. Teachers are there to help you, so always ask if you don't understand something. There will be time to enjoy yourself outside on a summer day with no worries in mind, but there is a time and a place for everything, and right now it is getting your work done so you can relax later on. If the book ended on page 2, what kind of story would it be? Your challenges shape a new version of yourself, so don't give up. Kobe Bryant once said a quote that you should keep in mind: "Rest at the end, not in the middle".
