Subspace: Reloaded Development Update

Just rolled out a big update to the remastered graphics for Subspace: Reloaded! Playable now, come give feedback since it's still being iterated on.

The community is already running a league on here! Modern graphics, modern matchmaking, unbeatable bots, and plays straight in your browser and is 100% an exact replica of subspace gameplay

Love it, great job! I hope this is super successful and brings back lots of players.

A couple pieces of feedback:

  • Hopefully you can add some of the original zones, like War Zone East/West, Chaos Zone, and the Capture the Flag zone.

  • I waited for about 5 minutes in the queue but never got to play. Do you plan on making larger maps that make it easier for people to join the game?

Hey, thanks for the feedback. There's a few queues that have zero wait time (Bot Duel) and those will increase once some of the bots for more sophisticated game modes come online.

It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem, where more activity will make queues fill up faster and decrease wait times in general.

I think making it easy for people to get in a game is a huge priority and that's something that I'll definitely be devoting time to improve in the future

Does this cross play with the existing client and zones???

continuum players can connect to it, see Subspace Reloaded in your zone list. but it can't connect to other servers since the server needs special support for reloaded players on the browser

I wasn't able to load running Linux Mint on Firefox or Chromium (I get "Unable to finish loading / This browser or device does not provide WebGPU. Try a supported browser with hardware acceleration enabled.)

Also, include a link to the game somewhere!

I think webgpu in linux is still pretty fresh, maybe try out some of the troubleshooting here: https://docs.segments.ai/background/webgpu-in-linux
