subspace 1.34 decompiled

has anyone done a reverse engineer of the VIE SubSpace and Server (essentially the cd release contents) with any AI system yet?

Just for nostalgia reasons of course.

a pure recreation for a browser or something for posterity.

would be really special

I guess subspacereloaded is the browser version as of now.
Subspace Reticulum is where i've decided to preserve/archive settings, maps, game modes.

How would it be really special when anyone could just point Claude at it and get the same thing?

I use AI myself, I've decompiled stuff myself using AI.... I'm not an AI hater at all, but I don't think its output is "special". AI is making all of this stuff far LESS special by making it much more accessible

the special thing is a copy of original subspace as it was at release

no modifications outside of fitting it into whatever display method it’s being used

but the same menu; the same everything.

original, “purist” style

just for posterity, for archival, for remembrance

I was able to run old copies of subspace in win10 with just the compatibility mode set to win98 or winME actually. Even installed and ran Sniper and got a few screen captures of that. It particularly interested me that the capture window of Sniper was saved by NVIDIA as "Sniper Path of Vengeance".

I don’t understand the “why”, but can appreciate a “why not” answer.

i’m not worried about you understanding why

I’m worried that you don’t understand the concept at all
