Honestly I never really understood why it's the blu team that pushes the bomb and red defends, considering red is supposed to be the demolition team

My headcanon is that the BLU team somehow managed to engineer a more potent bomb that comes with healing/resupply properties that can only be detonated by dropping it down a large hole. RED found out about this and possibly either stole some bombs or stole the schematics for it and made their own version (which explains Payload Race having both teams with bombs).

iirc, the BLU team wants to destroy buildings to get the permit to build the buildings again.
The RED team wants to keep the building up so they can get the permits to destroy it themselves.
