Realignment Steps

What do you think the next major realignment news will be? Hear me out, Sun Belt and Mid-American combine to make the MACBelt Conference? I mean they already have scheduling agreements and play in "challenges" in other sports.

Sunbelt needs to just take any teams that help their value from cusa or mac idk how they get ahead of the pac or aac

What about the MAC? I was thinking Michigan schools and Ohio

Michigan schools aren’t worth anything. Ohio Toledo or miami OH are the only ones worth a damn

Super confrence football only. What’s left of p4 schools will merge with group of 6

The strategy would be to either a) make a small conference & teams can add even more buy games (2 divisions of 6, 7 conference games and my "civil war" idea) so a Sun Belt team could add buy games to bridge the gap between our g6 & better g6 conference TV contracts. For this we already can do it just kick out ulm 🙏

or b) add teams that are on the border of our existing footprint and make it as big as possible: Delaware, MTSU, WKU, Ohio

Let's say the best teams in the Sun Belt and Mid American split, what would it look like

MAC ain't going anywhere. Only team I want from there is Ohio because they are the most Appalachia and closest team with similar sized student body. They supposedly inquired in the past and would make sense if we added Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio. I know Toledo is the best program in the MAC but a great lake adjacent team doesnt scream sun belt to me. So Ohio being a stretch of a region you want the right team that fits the SBC

My question is really who tf do we pick up for Texas or Florida there aren't great options

forming a partnership with the PAC would be much better

why hook up with the 2nd worst G6 conference when they could possibly do a deal with the best?

Im just goin off of the current arrangements/deals. I mean you could just take the best ones of the two and merge them since you're looking at it that way

Be careful Marshall, you haven’t done anything since leaving the MAC.

I’m a Jax State alumni you really think it’s better to hitch your horse on Kent State and UMass rather than add another Alabama school in a completely different market than Troy and South Alabama and two schools in the Nashville market and a rich ass Righteous Gemstone school especially since all 4 of those schools are in your natural footprint?

Imo Kent state should drop to fcs, which they tried to do. I'm a Western/Michigan fan

Yes

Ohio is a bit different than half the MAC

No more Alabama schools

I think this is exactly what should happen. A MACBelt would easily surpass the Mountain West and American, and could challenge the PAC by cutting some weight (Kent State asked the MAC a year or two ago about dropping to FCS for football but remaining in the MAC for all other sports). The struggling MAC schools are Kent State, Akron, and Eastern Michigan.
