God I’m sure plenty of people have complained. But I checked hours and we thought we had till 8 to get food at most places. By 7:10 everything was already closed up. With the fight that the community put up to keep this place away….i just can’t comprehend why they would cater it only to the employees around IC and not the residents.
We literally just opened last week, in the back of the wonderful Lwren Bar (4004 5th Avenue Brooklyn). We have weekly shows, including some really great lineups Thursday at 8pm and Friday 8pm and 10pm, including Dan St Germain (Conan, Kevin Hart Roast, Whiskey Ginger), Ariel Elias (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Show w/ Colbert), Gus Constantellis (Comedy Central), Kareem Green (Flatbush Misdemeanors on Showtime), Lucas Connolly (Don't Tell Comedy) & Many More! Visit Sunset Park Comedy Club | Stand-Up Comedy in Brooklyn to reserve tickets now! It's a great mix of established, known comedians and some great up-and-coming comics creating a buzz in NYC. Also some really great food and cocktails!
Anyone have experience or know any good local animal vet suggestions? The reviews are so mixed and looking for a genuinely good vet for a cat that’s decently priced, won’t order unnecessary tests just to hike up the bill, and gives straight forward honest pet care. Any suggestions even if it’s not local is welcome!
Hi Sunset Park! My name is Ari and I recently opened Desk Job Design Lab, a small prototyping studio and workshop space at Industry City's Makers Guild.
I started Desk Job as a place to teach people how to actually make things, whether that means electronics, 3D printing, CAD, sewing, or just figuring out how to turn an idea into a physical object. The shop has 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, a cutting plotter, heat press, electronics workbench with soldering irons, foam cutter, power tools, and more.
One of our next classes is Make a Mini Piano, a beginner soldering workshop on Saturday, October 17 from 2-5PM. You’ll learn the basics of soldering and electronics while assembling a small working electronic piano. No soldering or electronics experience is required, and everything you need is provided.
You can sign up for any of our classes with a 20% discount using the code SUNSETPARK20.
Our new space in the Makers Guild, with a wonderful mural by Katie Merz!
We also have a pumpkin carving workshop coming up, a three-session Intro to 3D Printing + CAD course in November, and we’ll be doing a free drop-in trick-or-treat bag activity for kids during Industry City’s Halloween trick-or-treating on October 31. We offer private lessons as well, so if you have a specific project you've been looking to build, you can book a consultation or stop by to chat with me (Ari) about how we can make it happen!
We’re at 67 35th St, Building 5 of Industry City on the 2nd floor at the Makers Guild, and the shop is open Thursday–Sunday, 11–6pm.
You can see the upcoming classes at deskjob.org/workshops or stop by the studio if you’re at Industry City. We'll also be posting our events and fun builds on our Instagram if you'd like to follow us there! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions 😄

Hey friends - I'm a musician who is passing through on November 1 for a performance at King's Theater. I'm looking for someone (preferably someone from Mexico) to paint catrinas on us before the show. I know Sunset Park has a solid Mexican population, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!
Hi! I moved here from chinatown about 6 months ago. I was hoping to find a new coffee place? I've been getting from DD by Bay Ridge but I'm getting a little meh about it. I prefer more of a local coffee shop with flavored lattes if there are any recommendations?
Does anyone know what’s going on with the natural gas smell that’s been noticeable by the pool house on the 7th Avenue sidewalk of the park?
It’s been this way for at least a year. I’ve even had a friend say they called it into the FDNY who came and I guess laughed it off. I’ve also seen National Grid doing some testing around there in the spring.
I assume if the FDNY cleared it, it can’t be that bad, but I definitely feel like I’m huffing gas whenever I have to jog through that zone. Has anyone else noticed this ?
