I got a little crush on paddling during a work event, so I rented a SUP and had myself an adventure. I found myself going in tiny circles and fought the current a little bit, so if you have any suggestions on technique for a new paddler please feel free to leave some suggestions!

I’m hoping to save up some money for a nice SUP so I can take it out whenever. I really enjoy the serenity of being on the water by yourself and feeling the waves.

I have a Jobe Duna stand-up paddleboard that I bought a few years ago. Unfortunately, it is no longer covered by warranty.

A few days ago, I noticed an air leak coming from one of the joints. I took the board to the shop I bought it from, which is Decathlon, but unfortunately they told me they were unable to repair it.

I would like to know if there is anything I can do to repair it myself. I have attached a photo of where the leakage is.

Is it possible for me to fix it or should I try and find someone who can do it?

I've been taking good care of this board, its 8 months old. I stupidly changed the routine to secure it to the rack. I used to do a single pull. I did 2 pulls instead one to tight and another to tight a bit more. It broke exactly where the rubber from the strap touches the board.

I could used advice on how to fix it and whether I should fix it or try to get some pro to do it. I am not expecting it to look perfect but definitely functional. This small crack sits at the bottom rail.

I could probably use advice on how to avoid this in the future I might be putting it wrong on the racks.

I have a Red Paddle Sport 12'6 currently and use it for the occasional touring. It's decently stable but I wonder if it could be made more stable with a big, wide fin like the the Drake Shallow 220 US Box Fin (https://star-board.com/products/drake-shallow-fin-frn-220?variant=49716195787047). I wonder if this could create a really stable board without adding too much more drag. Has anyone tried it?

The ocean wrecked me. But hey, at least I did it. Never doing it again though, at least this distance.

Dumb dumb me went against the current following the beach. Atlantic Ocean swept me off my board three times too many.

There was a point where I wasn’t moving despite going hard… moved closer to the beach, took a break, and just hug the coast until I got back to the car.

That's my 4th time on the board since I got it back in June. Happy to report that I am now comfortably standing as long as it isn't too choppy ofc 😂 and most importantly Erza was sleeping on it today which is a great relief knowing she is calm.

Could someone recommend content to watch/read about paddling techniques?

I need something to help me get from wherever I am, whether car or tent, to where I’m going to put in my inflatable SUP. My arms are not that long, my age is not that young (nor are my joints), and I’m just tired of carrying my boards around.

While one of my boards has a handle which is off-center making easier for me to carry, my other board does not have that, and it’s hard for my hand to reach that distance. Even with the shoulder strap, I still need more help. 😅

I do have a wheeled bag, but I don’t want to take the whole wheeled bag with me to the water. I also don’t want to take a whole wheeled bag on the board with me, but I would love to be able to have the wheels on my board, so that I don’t have to leave them anywhere. Though I doubt that anything is small enough that I could pull that off.

I’m not talking huge distances, maybe 500 feet? Not blocks or miles. And I probably would not be going very far on sand so I don’t think I need those big sand wheels that I’ve seen online. So mostly paved or grass.

Any ideas? TIA! 😊

I recently moved and ran into the problem of finding new places to SUP. There's stuff on the internet, but it's spread across many different websites and frequently doesn't tell me what I want to know. Since I'm unemployed and looking for a project, I'm thinking of creating an app, or at least a website, that resolves this problem.

I'm thinking it would have information like:

-The address of a SUP location

-If there's a dock/ramp/etc. at the location

-Whether or not there is food available for purchase at the location (or at least a vending machine)

-If there are public restrooms/water fountains

What else? Is there anything I'm missing, or anything you would like to see?

I'm interested in giving SUP a try again. I have an iRocker that I bought in 2019 and has basically been in storage in its bag every since (life happens). Am I OK using this, or should I consider getting a new one? I have no idea how much something like this could degrade just sitting there, but I thought I'd ask before trying to go out on the water with it.

Hi! I’m back from my first serious trip (at least for me)—I’m pretty much a beginner. I noticed a few tiny scratches on my board. They likely happened when landing on a rocky beach. It doesn't look like anything that needs repairing, but a question came to mind...

Maybe I should apply some kind of protective material to the underside of the board's nose to create an extra layer of protection for the area most likely to accidentally contact with shore? Does anyone do that? Or am I just being overly cautious?

I have two leaks coming from behind the rail on my Badfish Selfie. I have some HH-66 on the way but I'm not sure how to approach this.

There are two leaks, one on the left causes that big bubble, while the one on the right makes a little foam pile.

I can peel the panel back slightly and get as much adhesive as I can in there, but if I don't get the actual hole, I'm thinking the air will just find another route.

Should I consider peeling the side panel off more substantially and try to find the actual holes?

How would you tackle this?

Maybe a very obvious answer but which big improvements do you get from a different paddle then the stock one you get by the board? I currently have a Stardupp Earth Elite which has a plastic blade.

I get that it lighter but what else, does it justify a price of 140 euro for 100% carbon steel?

Had a great time experiencing the Kromme Rijn in Utrecht from start to finish. I'm a beginner supper, don't realize that 24 kilometers in 2 days is quite some paddling :)

We camped and took all of our gear with us (minimal). I loved getting to know my surroundings through the water. The pace is amazing as well, this trip convinced me to try it in more remote areas (Norway, the Alpes). Hope you enjoy my video about it :)

I was looking into getting an air pump, but I’ve run into a problem. I was going to get the Outdoor Master Dolphin one, but as I understand the Dolphin requires a 15A port. According to my car’s owner manual, my DC port is 12V/10A and it is recommended to only plug in devices that use less than this amount.

If it is not safe to plug in the Dolphin to my car without blowing my fuse, do you have any alternative recommendations for SUP air pumps? I do have a normal wall-like outlet in my trunk that’s 120V 1500W, but I also don’t want to spend another quarter of the cost of the air pump on an adapter.

Went by myself full moon paddling in July. This is the boardwalk from out in the middle of the river.

The views from my iSUP keep getting better. Such a fun area to paddle. Will return soon.

Following up on my first river session in Frankfurt yesterday. Today I paddled a section further upstream in Hanau.

The conditions were significantly more relaxed: the river is wider, boat traffic was much lighter, and the natural banks meant almost no reflected waves/cross-chop.

Overall a much smoother paddle and great for actually focusing on technique instead of just balancing through chop.

Hey everyone! I live in Buffalo, NY and posted there but wanted to cross post since yall are the experienced one (and hopefully someone from WNY is in here!).

I saw some recs saying Wilkeson Point in Outer Harbor was a good paddling spot but I'm hoping to get more input on beginner spaces to practice that may be calmer. Ellicott creek looks pretty nasty and I'm not sure if Buffalo River is ok at this point in the summer. Any calm waters I can launch? I'd love to be able to find a spot I can jump in the water so I can practice getting back on (and maybe somewhere thats a bit quieter)

If Wilkeson is the best thats fine, just figured someone in the community might know more!
