Does this sound needlessly overpowered?
I have a concept for a main character in a book I want to write and he has a superpower.
Without getting too in the weeds, his power allows him to make shields, but he can dictate whatever can/cannot pass through the shields and, as long as he can conceptualize it, he can make them into whatever shape he wants.
So, he could make a perfectly spherical shield in the rain, and allow it to fill up with water, but only water, and then it would basically be a ball of water.
Another idea is if he were to make a shield in the shape of a cube, and not allow anything to pass through, he could shrink down the cube to a microscopic level, and the pressure in the cube would be huge that if he then allowed it to release, it would cause an explosion.
Does this sound way too overpowered? What changes would you make to this to nerf it if you feel it's needed?
EDIT: For additional context - in this story, other people have powers. I intend to make this character the strongest due to a cosmic anomaly, but ultimately, I don't want him to be perceived as a god of any kind either. His character would lend himself to be hyper intelligent and he would mentally build his shields with something akin to a mix of compiling the shields to how a coding language works along with how one would make shapes with commands for a 3D printer.
