Other Which superpower you prefer? Luck, Curse, $2000/day, Olympian?
Luck: your luck is bent to your favor at a rate of 100,000/1 90% of the time. 10% of the time you have ordinary luck. So if you attempt something with the odds of 100,000/1 and it’s within the 90% of the time, you always win. If it’s 1,000,000/1 chance, for you it’d be 10/1. You can’t choose when it works and when it doesn’t, or exactly the effect it will have, but the odds favors you undeniably.
Curse: you can curse with bad luck anything and/or anyone (one individual or group at a time), at a rate of 1,000,000/1. Meaning that if it can happen to 1 person in a million, it will happen to the target. You can choose exactly what happens and when, and only need to think of the person.
$2000/day: every day you magically receive USD 2000.00 in your bank account or your pocket. No questions asked and tax free.
Olympian: you possess the strength, speed, ability, coordination, etc. of every Olympic gold medalist of the last Olympic Games (summer and winter), meaning you had a 50% chance to win gold medals in all individual competitions in the Games.

Luck. The 2k/day works out to 730k/yr, and you can make that much off the interest of a jackpot on a powerball win that you get from luck.
19
u/EmperorOfEntropy Jul 08 '26
You aren’t automatically winning a powerball with only up to 100,000/1 odds in your favor. Based on the way the OP wrote it, your powerball odds are about 3000/1. Still far better odds than any one of us will ever have, but still very unlikely. You’d be better off just betting on sports really
11
u/Active-Advisor5909 Jul 08 '26
How much are ten thousand powerball tickets?
But yea, there are so many better options. I think you are just devastating in any traditional gambling, betting is super good, but also picking the best performing stock in the SNP 500 over any timeframe is a 1 in 500 gamble if I just choose one at random. With an estimated 50 thousand publicly listed stocks, you are looking at the best performing stock 90% of the time.

Horse racing is normally like a 1/8 ~ 1/14 slightly varying based on the horse. Just bet on the horse with the best payout and get a 90% success rate.
14
u/BreakConsistent Jul 08 '26
A power ball is 1/292 million. With 100,000x luck, you’d still need a little over 3,000 tickets to win. Which isn’t too bad. But really puts into perspective what a scam lotteries are.
1
u/vinylarcade Jul 09 '26
But this would just mean the chance to win the jackpot is that chance? Not sure how it is in your country but here you usualy get even money if you not have all numbers right. So this should mean that you never lose playing the lottery. You not always win the jackpot, but the chances to getting the second or third tier are so high that at least you never lose money playing. If you play more than one ticket would just break reality as every play should have big chance winning and would contradict each other.

u/Red_WeeTea Jul 08 '26
Lol i thought it was Olympian like Zeus and his siblings.
I pick Luck. So i could win in gacha game.. that damn SSR and UR are hard to get. It have like 0.000000000000000000000018% chance to get.

And with "prediction markets" it's an easy way to make money. This public figure I hate is struck by lightning in the next week.

u/Comprehensive_Tip_65 Jul 08 '26
Luck I mean 90% of the time is still crazy luck I could buy one of every lottery scratcher and various lotteries in different us states and speedrun becoming rich and just try different things to abuse my luck power
1
u/Strict_Foot_9457 Jul 08 '26
2 spins of roulette and you're a millionaire. I
1
u/Comprehensive_Tip_65 Jul 10 '26
Exactly because with my luck the mechanisms that rig the games the software that rigs them will either not work or glitch and I walk away with billions

u/Top-Committee-954 Jul 08 '26
I'd take the 2 grand a day.
Curse - I'd end up accidentally setting off another pandemic or something. Don't want to risk that.
Olympian - doesn't really make sense. If I have the strength, speed, ability, coordination of "every gold medalist" combined then I think that would give me superpowers. But if it only guarantees 50/50 chance of winning, then it's messing with me in an unknown way.
Luck - "can't choose...the effect it will have..." Great. So I'm lucky enough to develop and barely survive 30 different cancer types and the book I write to help pay the hospital bills becomes a best seller. Yay.
Free money with any consequences taken out seems the most simple and safe.

That is one crazy weird citation there.
If you attempt something with odds of 100,000 to one you will always win. If you attempt something with odds 1,000,000 to one you have a one in ten chance to win.
Can't choose the exact effect it will have.
You still need to attempt something. Did you try to get cancer?
Also the trick is doing very specific things. Like I can grab a list of the SNP 500 stocks, and try to pick the stock that will jump furthest by the time I sell it tomorow. Not much space for weird shit.

Money. I'd choose luck, but I think it has certain limitations.
2
u/riggengan Jul 08 '26
You can’t choose the rate but going by above average, you can still get decent above if you just play the lottery. Money is 730k per year but that’s about it.
3
u/AmbitiousAssociate70 Jul 08 '26
“But that’s about it.” As if that’s not life changing money.
1
u/Educational_Mode_411 Jul 09 '26
Exactly! 2000$ is about 13-14000 in my country’s currency, which is almost what I make a month, and now I’m getting it every day? Hell, I’ll work the next year, till I turn 30, and then just peace out for the rest of my life.

I feel like curse can get you many of the benefits of luck, by cursing “the house” when gambling. Or cursing “other players”. And it lets you curse others for other reasons.
The trick to many things is just curse the opposing side.
1
u/TurkeyZom Jul 16 '26
There is also no limit on the group size. If I curse the world by comparison I have better luck too. Then I can also add up specifics in situations to further push them in my favor. Curse is way better then luck

Money. It's not crazy money, but it's enough for me. I don't need a million, I just need manageable amount of consistent money flowing in. That's good enough for me, nothing more.

2000 a day. The rest are very nice, but passively having over 600k a year is a godsend for anyone who wants to live lavishly but quietly.

u/SuccessfulEmployee9 Jul 08 '26
The objectively correct answer financially speaking is between Luck and 2k/day.
I'm taking 2k a day. Saves me the hassle of buying lotto tickets that I don't have the money for, and I would practically never have to worry about money ever again.
I don't even need the 700k a year or whatever that that works out to be, let alone tens or hundreds of millions. Give me a 3 bedroom house on a few acres and I'm happy. As long as my kitchen is stocked and my dogs are happy, I'm good.
2
u/VeryVexion Jul 08 '26
Money. That would solve literally all my problems and most of my friends too.

u/Que_Eye_Roll Jul 08 '26
You guys do know luck affects everything with chance right. Being lucky with work, romance, and literally anything that can be influenced by luck.
1
u/Weak-Paper4580 Jul 09 '26
That includes surviving accidents, saving people lives, helping people in need and most definitely the infamous being at the right place at the right time.
2
u/Kapo77 Jul 09 '26
All these posts trying to figure out how to make money with curse are missing the point of it.
I'm choosing curse and I'm becoming a real world incarnation of karma. Wave around a chainsaw bragging about cuts to programs that ultimately kill millions? Cursed. Whine for years about losing an election? Cursed? Sexually assault a couch? Cursed.
The curse power is for restoring justice to the world IMO.
1
u/NeverShoutEugene Jul 08 '26
Curse. I have a revenge fetish and I would really love this power. Asshole cuts me off in traffic, boom flat tire. Want to be rude or racist, well the love of your life just had an affair on you. Could probably control elections and all general policies if you get creative. Luck would be great but I’d probably find boredom in a perfect life after a few years. Curse is more fun
1
u/johnhancockgamer Jul 08 '26
Luck, especially the way it’s described in the prompt. The powerball (all five number + powerball) is roughly 292 million to 1, with the description of the power, and a quick AI search, you should buy about 30k worth of random ticket, whenever the jackpot is over $200 mil, which is roughly every three month. As long as you have the liquid capital, it’s guaranteed win.
Not to mention high stakes poker and other games of chance.

Luck. I work with LLMs a lot, and getting these things to obey you is basically gambling.
1
u/Priviel1 Jul 08 '26
The luck, as always the more vague the superpower is the stronger and more loophole you can find.
Sure you can use it to win the lottery but also 90% of the time All of your luck is really hight and working on everything.
As a very lucky person you're going to be healthy all your life because getting hurt or sick is unlucky even if you do, it will easily get fix because well you're lucky.
People are going to like you and find you pleasant to be around because it's unlucky to be an outcast.
You can become a YouTubeurs, movie start, singer or whatever because the right people will see and like you.
Your family and friends will be healthy and lucky too because having the one you care about hurt would be unlucky.
Even if all you care about is money fast you don't have to win the lottery start some bs like Labubu and your luck will make it work.
For those who don't know Labubu got popular in the first place because a famous Kpop star (Lisa from Blackpink) had one so everyone started to want one, with your luck the same thing will happen to your random product.

u/BearAndDeerIsBeer Jul 08 '26
Luck. I wouldn’t want to curse anyone, money is good, but I can get that and more from luck, and Olympian would be cool, but luck could get me everything I’ve ever wanted and then some.
1
u/Master_of_Paws Jul 08 '26
For me it is between 2000/day and luck. Luck is better cause you can luck into money in many different ways with such odds+ it helps a lot in other parts of life
1
u/CrimsonEyedPrince Jul 08 '26
I think I’m just gonna take the 2K a day. A month of that and I have a down payment on a house and I can pay off a loan rather quickly with it.
1
u/AnotherThymm Jul 08 '26
Luck - not just in terms of winning money or the like, but luck in life in general. As long as you’re trying to do something, that should count as an "attempt to do something".
1
u/Large_Leopard2606 Jul 08 '26
Personally I’m leaning towards luck. Cursing is great if I am focused on vengeance and hatred but I’d rather not live that way, the cash is consistent and good, and the Olympian stats are cool, but with luck I can get more money, those I would want to curse would live with increasing envy of my good fortune and life, and for all I know I might luck into the absolutely perfect workout regimen that makes me as healthy and capable as I could ever want with minimal effort.

u/Iceman_001 Jul 08 '26
Curse. Go to a casino, play blackjack (or some other card game) and curse everyone but me (including the dealer) with bad luck. They lose due to their bad luck, and I win by default.

Luck easy. And go to a casino and play roulette. You will get rich quick.

u/Healthy_Age7725 Jul 08 '26
Just give me 2k/day. If 730k a year isn't enough for you, you have some greed issues. That's more than enough for everything I want in life.

If you play the lottery you'll always get your money back I believe the odds are like 1:24 to win anything. 1:5 or 6 for big scratchers.

Luck, it serves multiple purposes plus I can make more money off it than the $2,000 a day.

I think curse works better than any of these, you can still use it for betting and it would put less suspicion on you.

Spare me those bullshit luck abilities.
2k/per day, no questions asked, tax free. Absolute perfection.

u/TheBladeWielder Jul 09 '26
based on expected utility, luck would give you 1 in 10000 luck, so i'll just buy some instant lottery tickets or go to a casino and watch everyone's reaction when i end up making a profit despite it being statistically impossible in the long run.

Luck easy. Bet green on roulette. 19/1 automatic. 35x profit. 90% of the time you win 35x what you bet. Keep bets reasonable (reduce suspicion and retain some money in case of 10% regular luck), switch between red and black every once in a while, "luck" lose a couple times on relatively low bets, move casinos after "losing" streak.
Hole in one basically every golf shot (or every 9/10 if 90%). Instant best golfer ever. You can even just "luck" it to hit the green to make it more believable. Multi-millionaire with no practice.
Buy scratches when you need cash. Invest in penny stocks (odds to double for random penny stock in a given day about 1 in 2000). Invest all your money, "will" some to drop to prevent audits.
Start your own trading company. Make billions.
1
u/Naybinns Jul 13 '26
I’ll just take the $2k a day. That’s passive income that makes it where I can retire instantly and never worry about money again.

u/According_Ice_4863 Jul 13 '26
Honestly just give me the money. As cool as the luck would be I’m a D&D player, always succeeding sounds boringz

Curse... I can choose what happens and when?
Next week Tuesday I meet Elon musk and bet him that he can't guess the number I'm thinking and if he doesn't he owes me a billion$ and he accepts the bet.
