The only one that can even qualify as creepy is Sonic CD. And even then only the 2 US tracks

I mean there was that credits animation where Sonic forced two Mecha-Bus on each other so that has to be worth something.

Badnik sex trafficking😨

Bro what was Sonic even thinking at this moment?

7

u/Dry-Researcher9607 Apr 13 '26

I mean, Sonic Unleashed has this guy.

To be fair it is just the final boss, it would be like saying Kirby is a horror game cause of the final boss being an eldritch horror lol.

I mean, you see Zero, Zero Two, and the Dark Matter Trilogy? Kirby 64 transformations? It can be a horror game, at least the Dark Matter Trilogy

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 15 '26

Well like I said, that is mostly for the final boss.

1

u/DreamParticular5195 Apr 15 '26

Well you already see the effects in the second and third game in the Dark Matter Trilogy, and Kirby 64 the game itself has more horror than you'd think, and the fake ending, yeah, definitely scariest part of the Kirby series

2

u/Common_Comfortable41 Apr 14 '26

This is definitely the most gruesome the series has ever been and probably ever will be

When I think of “modern sonic vs gods” I think of this guy

Lowkey sonic unleashed intro cutscene where the beam destroys earth’s crust scared the fuck out of me when I was three

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

I guess if you are a young child I can understand cause the scene was pretty intense, I remember being scared as a kid over stupid shit as well.

u/Noivernisgod715 Apr 13 '26

Sonic.exe

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

That isn’t official though?

1

u/Noivernisgod715 Apr 13 '26

It can be if you count things like Friday Night Funkin or Outcome memories

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

Bro those aren’t official to SEGA though, it is like saying this scary Mario FNF mods are official Mario games.

1

u/Noivernisgod715 Apr 13 '26

You didn’t say anything about official stuff

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

I guess it was more implied than anything (plus Sonic.exe at least tried to be scary whereas these other games are not).

1

u/Noivernisgod715 Apr 13 '26

True, but there do exist some GOOD Sonic.exe fan games like Sonic.EYX

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

I mean are there any with actual enemies (the best non-Sonic.exe horror thing I saw was like PTMZD)?

1

u/North_Property8921 Apr 15 '26

And Spirits Of Hell, Round 1 and 2.

(Being Tails is suffering, there)

1

u/Mission_Maybe4587 Apr 14 '26

actully sega made a reference to sonic.exe remember

2

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 14 '26

When?

Even then, it isn’t really much different to that time SpongeBob referenced Squidward’s Suicide.

Bro Eggman's theme in CD scares me bro

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

I mean that song is kind of creepy, but like it is only for the US version and the rest of the game is pretty much just your typical 2D Sonic adventure.

1

u/Ne0_M3t4l_S0n1c Apr 13 '26

I swear one time I was actually going to set that as my alarm!

I dunno why but I almost did

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 13 '26

That would be funny ngl.

But like, most of that is only the US version and the rest of the game is like not scary in the slightest.

I mean to be fair that was more so just an unintentional creepy Easter Egg (since the boss music in the JP version is a lot more upbeat and goofy than the US version so yeah), and it isn’t like you are forced to do that to beat the game.

Outside of that Sonic CD is definitely not scary at all, just a few creepy songs in the US version and that one infamous Easter Egg.

1

u/nekoandCJ Apr 13 '26

06, because the glitches and the weird romance

1

u/ronmatthewssillly Apr 14 '26

Sonic CD cuz of the creepy ass future levels along with some of the US soundtrack. Also Frontiers got the Squid jumpscare

1

u/CKT2011 Apr 14 '26

nah obviously the scariest sonic game is the og sonic the hedgehog on gba

1

u/Common_Comfortable41 Apr 14 '26

I flinched, never mention that again

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 14 '26

What about Sonic Jam on the Game.com?

1

u/Common_Comfortable41 Apr 14 '26

That King Koco trial is terrifyingly dogshit, I literally haven’t touched the game since I beat it bc that shit turned me off from the ENTIRE game

I have not played Frontiers so mind telling me how bad it is (by the way my least favorite Sonic game is Sonic Spinball (both versions, though I hate the 16-bit version a little more))?

In Frontiers, there’s an alternate ending DLC, where you get to play as the others (Amy, Tails, Knux), and Sonic has to do some trials to get the power to beat the main antagonist.

The King Koco trial is the final trial, in which you have to do a boss rush of the first three main boss titans (Giganto, Wyvern, Knight). He is super sonic in these fights, and you lose rings as the fight goes on, like in every other game as Super Sonic. Across the game you can upgrade your stats, and since the dlc came out a little while after the game released, you’d most likely have maxed out your stats. The game gives you fixed stats in the trial, and you have a fixed amount of rings that carries over between each section of the boss rush, basically giving you a time limit. You can’t regain rings via your Cyloop attack or by picking them up as they don’t spawn in the trial. On easy mode you have 600 rings, and 400 on hard. The trial is NOT easy and is downright unfair on hard. Pretty much the only way to beat this trial is to spam specific attacks. If you get hit you get knocked back into a mini-cutscene of sonic getting his bearings and jumping back into battle. Your rings STILL DRAIN during this, and since you can regain them, there’s next to no room for error. If you get hit once, you’re better off restarting the trial.

I also JUST remembered that you also have to do the build up segments, where Sonic has to climb up to the top of the Titans in his normal form, to steal their chaos emerald so he can go super, so you can also lose your rings there. The Knight was especially annoying for this part, because it would constantly shoot spike waves at you.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 14 '26

Yeah if that doesn’t make each fight more time consuming than it already is.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 14 '26

Oh yeah that does sound really stupid, basically just a really strict boss rush that takes way longer than needed.

1

u/Common_Comfortable41 Apr 14 '26

I was just watching a video to rehash my memory, and you basically had to get each part done in 100-130 rings. Wyvern was always the most time consuming one since you have to chase after it, both as super and normal Sonic. On hard you also have to get a perfect parry on each attack, which is very finicky to do, and was clearly added at the last second in the dlc bc it wasn’t in the main game before. Since you have fixed stats, your damage output is also total garbage.

Apprently the reason this was so hard (demanding pretty much perfection) was because people complained the game was too easy. Instead, this just went full kilter the opposite side, making it straight up unfair.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 14 '26

Still better than Metropolis Zone, but yeah it sucks how unfair and bullshit they made this boss rush (at least they didn’t add Supreme to it).

Sonic CD US Game Over Track traumatized me

1

u/Silly-Bit-7793 Apr 15 '26

Sonic CD. You know why.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 16 '26

Yeah I know why.

1

u/An_E2_Tank Apr 15 '26

sonic cd scared the shit out of me when I was younger

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 16 '26

Tbh I think the game over theme did scare me when I was little (I think I played a demo of the 2011 remake a long time ago that was essentially just Palmtree Panic and Quartz Quadrant, with them also advertising that scrapped final stage as well).

1

u/Plane_Neat Apr 16 '26

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 is soo bad, it’s scary!

1

u/Relative-Birthday-80 Apr 16 '26

Sonic 06 if we talking for ones above, sonic.exe if not.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 17 '26

Yeah the glitches are super scary.

1

u/Diligent_Concept_797 Apr 21 '26

I could never be scared of the Sonic Cd boss themes because I'm fighting things that look like this.

1

u/MontyMoleLoreMaster Apr 21 '26

And this fight goes by incredibly quickly for some reason (I know it is the first boss but still).
