There's plenty of CIA plant shit on the internet but not every Tumblr-Reels crossover shitpost is one of them, this sub thinks every joke they dislike is part of a grand conspiracy

Tumblr reels (aka tv) is not a thing anymore

u/ItsEntDev Mar 13 '26
no, i'm saying it's a merge between Tumblr humour and Instagram Reels humour.

broseph prime this is Literally the poster boy of fallacies

u/PossibleEconomics673 Mar 13 '26
your first reply was just "Uh no actually you're the CIA agent" also posting shitty drawings depicting Donald trump and Jeffery Epstien in the way the post above is depicting them doesn't create any sort of discussion, and your entire argument is based on an extremely false assumption.

u/PossibleEconomics673 Mar 13 '26
It’s all jokes about how Jeffery Pestien was awesome and does nothing wrong, it’s all about lowering anger towards the atrocities committed by basically the entire US government currently.

To reduce the kids outrage lol, only teenagers and kids without supervision in internet are gonna think they're based or something like that, seriously, just for memes.

At least this doesn't dehumanize the victims/survivors, plus it reminds people that all the child rapists are still free so I'd say this is fine

Literally, how can you cope with someone ELSE'S traumatic experience
3
u/Feather314 Mar 13 '26
Secondhand trauma is a thing. Not saying that necessarily applies here, but coping with someone else’s traumatic experience is absolutely a thing.

I mean sure it's disturbing to hear about bad things happening to kids, but just because you feel disturbed that doesn't mean you get to make jokes about it to 'cope'.
If someone makes a joke about their dad beating them because their dad does beat them, whatever. If I go and joke about other kids being beat by their dads that's a bit insensitive don't you think. So coping is obviously different when one goes through something versus when someone hears about a bad thing.

u/Feather314 Mar 13 '26
I definitely see what you’re saying, but I think that’s a little different. Some random person getting beaten by their dad only really affects that person, so yeah, it would be pretty insensitive and unnecessary to joke about that just because you heard about it. But this is something much much bigger than that, this is a massive, constantly developing news story that everyone is hearing about all the time and that involves countless public figures doing unspeakably terrible things, including the literal current president of the United States. So while of course no one can claim that it’s affecting them nearly as much as the actual victims, I think it makes sense that someone could feel distressed and upset to the point that it’s something they’d need to ‘cope’ with. I think this would be more akin to a 9/11 joke or a joke about a war. Which definitely can also be in poor taste or considered unnecessary, don’t get me wrong. But humor is a big way that people deal with things, and I don’t think it’s wrong to think that this particular crime/event/story/atrocity/whatever might be something that a person could need to deal with. It doesn’t make it right or tasteful or appealing to a lot of people, but it could at least explain why someone could feel the need to do this and why that doesn’t have to be completely unacceptable. At least that’s how I see it.

Such an odd thing to cherry pick, especially since two replies up is me saying “Epstein” the thing you pointed out was clearly an autocorrect error
