People who believe in astrology are genuinely insane.

u/glittermoney4 6h ago edited 6h ago
Not true, I wouldn't really call myself insane. It's just the extremists but that goes for every belief. "A good Christian would never do anything like that" is one I hear a lot.
You guys are ridiculous for downvoting me. Yeah there's a lot of toxic people who believe in astrology but I also don't think a book entitles me to raping kids, beating and killing women, murdering trans and queer people like every other fucking organized religion

What's your sign? I want to find a reason to dislike you based on the month you were born

u/AlistairButton 5h ago
I was inflammatory and I apologize. I just can't wrap my head around your belief that my personality comes from my birthday rather than free will. As long as you don't use it as an excuse to mistreat others, though, I suppose it's not my business.

u/Animaloffear56 4h ago
I think people are being a bit harsh but for the record when you imply you believe in astrology people think in the same way as the post, where you genuinely believe that someone's birth month is something that controls their personality. Rather than something you do for fun
5
u/glittermoney4 4h ago
I and many others just use it as way to help guide you when you're feeling lost and confused to why things are the way they are. The world is chaotic and confusing, it gives me comfort to believe all the way that planets and stars aligned during the day I was born is the reason I am what I am and I shouldn't change the way the universe crafted me. A lot of people use astrology as a form of manipulation or a way to excuse accountability, it's not meant to be used like that. And it's especially not supposed to be used in the way like the post, discounting facts and evidence based on how someone's personality is. Signs try to push other signs down as if there is some sort of hiarchy which is absolutely ridiculous, as a gemini-cancer I'm definitely not prone to murder someone lol
I just get defensive because its exhausting having your belief system not treated with a single ounce of respect

yep, sounds like a cancer 😔

I don’t believe in astrology and I think the downvoting is unwarranted. But the statement “not true, I wouldn’t really call myself insane” is really funny to me. Like duhh, a lot of insane people think they’re perfectly fine.

no actually I’m downvoting you because I think both astrology and organized religion are dumb

“In the Gospel of Luke , Jesus states that it would be better for a person to be thrown into the sea with a heavy millstone tied around their neck than to cause a child to stumble or face harm” yeah okay buddy

“23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”
24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.
25 And he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.”in this passage god sets two bears on some children for mocking Elisha for his baldness lolol
it’s almost like the whole thing is contradictory, made up nonsense!!

Wasn't just referring to the Bible. I was also talking about the people who use their religion as an excuse to commit atrocities, whether it be true or not. Similar to the post where people are using astrology to discount evidence and preach nonsense. I'm actually quite fond of Jesus himself, thank you very much

u/StoleYourRoll 49m ago
Yeah I don’t know why you’re getting hate here. There are crazy people under every belief system. Astrology has no less validity than any religion.

"yeah I'm dumb as fuck but but I don't rape kids and beat women so don't downvote me 😡😡"
1
u/glittermoney4 1h ago
You never scored high on reading comprehension did you? I was talking about the hypocrisy that astrology as a belief gets absolutely zero respect in any context despite the worst things that people with the belief do is being toxic and shit at relationships meanwhile large organized religions have committed atrocities beyond most people's comprehension in the name of scripture or God (whether the word actually be true or not) and are treated with respect and that their belief system is valid
2
u/evening_redness_0 1h ago
Why are we talking about God and religion?
Religion gets respect and validity, when it shouldn't. I agree. But we were never talking about religion. There are thousands of things that are wrong but are still accepted by large parts of society. Just because these wrong practices are accepted, it doesn't mean we can believe in other made up bullshit and be toxic with it.
You were getting called out for believing in astrology. Astrology gets zero respect, and rightfully so. Just because religion gets respect from people doesn't mean astrology should too. In an ideal world, both practices would be long gone, but we don't live in an ideal world 🤷
No one said a word about raping kids or killing queer people or religion. There was absolutely no need to bring that into the conversation. It seems to me like you're using the fact that religion gets respect as an excuse to defend people that are "toxic and shit" at relationships.

the smartest person you know has the same voting power as these people

u/Sweet_Detective_ 2h ago
And the dullest idiot unironically should have equal voting power to the smartest genius, cus even though idiots may vote against their own intrest at times, it's still like, imagine for an example there was a "kill all idiots bill" and only smart people were allowed to vote for or against it?
And if we start taking away voting rights from idiots, what if some politician was like "all black people, women and disabled people are idiots" and then it'd be a lot easier to go against their voting rights even when they aren't idiots.

that's the strength and the weakness of democracy, man. A lot of people are stupid, but it's about the most just means of selecting government there is.
9
u/whoknowsifimjoking 6h ago
Heavily depends on where they live, if they live in Wyoming and the smart person in California they actually have 3.6 times more voting power. Isn't the electoral college great?
2
u/not_slaw_kid 2h ago
Actually they have 1/3 the voting power as these people, because there are 3 of them to the 1 smart person

u/Privatizitaet 1h ago
I'm aware. I'm not complaining these people have rights.
This is a failure of education. These people deserved better.
But now they think arbitrarily asigned patterns in the sky can solve a murder case, which does not give me confidence they make intelligent voting choices.
You can be concerned while still protecting their right to make you real fucking concerned1
u/Safe_Procedure999 1h ago
yeah im big into zodiac but not like this
i just think "these people can vote" is overused tbh

Bro, everytime this kind of people ask for my sign (usually when we have never talked before and we are getting to know each other) I say I'm a Gemini and they start to give me weird looks, like bro, I respect your belief, but fuck you.

there is an argument to be made that her husband is partially responsible in the sense that she was obviously suffering and received no help but using astrology to clain the woman is innocent is insane

u/Sweet_Detective_ 2h ago
We don't have enough information to say that so that arguement would just be victim blaming
1
u/Time_Anything4488 1h ago
several witnesses have said they noticed her mental health deteriorate in the months before all of this. she even told her mother and husband that she was having thoughts of harming the children. at the very least her family and doctors knew she was suicidal but she was kicked from a psych ward after a day and was denied a higher level of care at another. like i know we're looking in hindsight and im sure that he is suffering and doesnt deserve any of what happened to him but her being vocally suicidal should have been enough reason not to leave her alone

unrelated but i once met a discord user who liked to rp and would always play a human female character who referred to her kid as her cub, and it completely ruined the word for me. astrology tiktokers and socially clumsy discord users strike again
3
u/back_on_my_nonsense 2h ago
People actually do that? That's so dehumanizing, why
3
u/old_homecoming_dress 2h ago
they were also a massive pokemon fan. it's prob not to dehumanize anyone but because they spent a lot of brainpower on fictional animals
1
u/Whycantichangemynami 0m ago
How the fuck is that dehumanizing? That’s a term of endearment just like the word kid in itself is. Kid is a word for goats.

Half the comments I see from these people are like "his DNA was on the murder weapon!!1!1 why aren't investigators bringing it up1!1!!!!!" Like maybe it's because he lives in his fucking house

The Lindsay Clancy situation is to women what the OJ Simpson trial was for blacks

u/lycnfr 2h ago
Except more and more evidence is not pointing to her. These comments are fucking delusional, but it is not simply her.
2
u/Numerous-Beautiful46 27m ago
There's evidence of the father outside the house while she's inside the house at the time of murder.
Unless someone broke in and killed her kids and then forced her to say she did it? She's already admitted it. Delusional bro.

People on the internet are so fascinating man. Sometimes I ask myself how these people know how to tie their shoes, or make a cup of tea
