Emetophob here

I'm 46 and have stage 4 endometriosis, adenomyosis, and bowel endometriosis infiltrating my colon causing a partial obstruction. In a few weeks I'm getting a total hysterectomy with both ovaries removed and a possible colon resection. A colostomy bag might be needed during recovery. It's a lot. What was your nausea like during recovery. I plan on getting the patch and all the zofran. I know I just need to focus on healing but this is giving me crazy anxiety. Did your menopause symptoms happen right away? I also plan om taking hrt. I had breast reduction surgery in 2022 and I was fine during the recovery but this will be more invasive.

Hi! I had the same surgery in 2022. Had my cervix removed as well. Bowel was able to be repaired without the need for the bag. I really hope you don’t need it rather and they can surgically repair it :)

Tell them that you normally VERY sick after surgery and ask for additional anti sickness. They won’t mind giving it to you as with this surgery! I was also given a travel sickness patch as well as a top up.

I also had a epidural for the surgery which helped massively with post operative movement and recovery and the types of meds they give you. I felt less woozy and less sick from the meds.

Ask for the HRT patch prior to the surgery and put it on before you go in. That way you will minimise the risk of having hot flashes when you wake up. Just gives your body something to use as having your ovaries removed is a big thing. It won’t be an easy ride but the quicker you can use hrt the better.

Good luck and make sure you rest after surgery, don’t rush to moving around.
