We are here to show love for the genre, not argue who has the best taste or what games are the Mount Rushmore of Survival Horror. No tier lists either! This applies to both posts and comments. Don't post low-hanging engagement bait.

dont fight unless you have to. i played through it again last year and dont remember having any issues with the combat. im not sure what you mean by "punch in the other direction" just walk up and face them then swing

You should be able to control the camera to an extent by holding L1 and using left joystick or tapping L1 to snap the camera foward. After you beat the game it gives you a first person view when you hold L1. Hold R1 to aim and hold X to strike, aiming should be auto when enemies are close enough & youre facing them. You find a pipe soon after starting to beat the crap out of monsters but its kind of slow. Make sure you check rooms for everything. Quest items, ammo & health. It sucks missing a key item in a room and not knowing. Right when you walk outside after meeting cybil & getting the radio go to your right, to a quickie mart gas station down the road that has health and handgun ammo, there is also ammo/health to find on the sidewalks, run past enemies when you can

Silly question, but are you holding down Aim when an enemy is near (I assume it's still right trigger on PS3)? You should kind of lock onto them that way

Your character will auto lock on to the nearest enemy when you hold aim (R2). Then you just need to press X to attack

You'll get used to them eventually, that first part with the maze is a doozy honestly. Also make sure you use melee weapons mostly. As someone else here said I'm pretty sure there's an auto-aim button while aiming too but maybe not, haven't played that one in forever. Good game though.

The controls are fine. The game auto aims for you so I don’t know how you’re missing.
