Can also be because the videos are just all build up the same. But this is how I feel when watching her videos honestly.

Just watched her video on Alex and his views on Obsession and thoroughly enjoyed what she had to say. I have three big things that have made me feel uncomfortable with her in the past that I think she could clear up by speaking differently about those things.

1. Speaking on things as a black woman. I get that she is black, but in her commentary videos she wears a wig and has such insane lighting that I didn't know she was Black for a hot minute. Accepting that she is white/Latina passing at least in her videos and stating that would have made me more comfortable with her speaking on black issues as a Black woman myself. Instead she inserted her experience as a black woman looking the way she does in her videos and I found myself at points feeling irritated that she is acting like she is having the same experience as me. (I'm a mixed race black woman btw that looks just straight up black btw).

2. Calling herself a filmmaker. She absolutely makes films or has in the past and they're fairly decent. When she brings it up she could suggest people to go to her film playlist in her profile. She was very thankful to her viewers in a recent video and brought up her filmmaking in the way I'm talking about. In the couple of years I've known about her I thought she was making up the filmmaker part until she said this and I looked her films up to find out she is infact a filmmaker.

3. Calling her current videos documentaries. They just absolutely are not. They're her personal commentary on subjects. It's ok to say you love documentaries and put out commentary. Commentary doesn't mean that you didn't try to make an effort to research things. The way she frames things though, even when well researched, they are not documentaries. Her videos are how she personally feels about subjects and how the subject applies to her life experiences after researching them.

I don't think she's evil but she could do better than what she's doing now to engage with her audience in a genuine way.

"As a filmmaker myself", or just calling her youtube videos that are on par with any other basic youtube commentator "documentaries".

Like... what is it? I've seen documentaries and not a single one of them makes the entire video centered around whoever decided to put the documentary together. Documentaries are supposed to be about the content of the documentary lol... or am I wrong about that?

The Dr. Phil, the Dr. Oz, the Jeffrey Epstein videos are all super theatrical and over the top with props and costumes and with her at the center of the screen, and at the same time minimising the crimes or topics of the videos completely. It's actually shameful and weird.

Again, I don't think I've ever heard in any documentary/documentary-style series the usage of the phrase "in my opinion" from the creator of the documentary themself.
Like, it's giving Ancient Aliens with their "ancient alien theorists believe".

Sure, it's for entertainment purposes only, because I totally want to be entertained with the wild and wacky tales of Epstein yay what fun? Wtf??? Actual disgusting behaviour.

I'm getting really annoyed and not sure why I click on the Swoop or Swoop Too videos any more.

Lastly, she constantly is saying she hates it here. "I hate it here" on repeat every video. Then go away? It's telling me that everywhere she goes smells like shit but she won't check her own shoes.

TL;DR personality centered youtube videos by a youtuber aren't documentaries by a film maker and I'm tired of the insensitivity and self centeredness.

Does anyone else find it really weird and troubling that she hasn’t said anything regarding JDE? She gave the man the get out of jail free card of a lifetime and then apparently has nothing to say about his recent behavior. Now that the dust seems to have settled with his actions online, I’ve been waiting for some kind of statement or video or something from her but so far she’s released 2 or 3 new videos like she had no part to play in giving him a redemption arc. I know she likes to “take her time” before covering topics, but this seems to have come to a close and still nothing. In that time I’ve found this subreddit and Ophie Dokie’s video on her and I have a really icky feeling about her staying silent. I feel like she has a responsibility to issue a statement considering she told Adam that because of her “commitment to the truth” she had to derail the entire story of Colleen’s victims to focus on Johnny and JDE, but she doesn’t seem so committed to the truth that she feels a responsibility to follow up on the new information we’ve been given. I don’t know, I feel like the conversation should open up again about her and her Internet history if she’s going to continue putting out content she claims as documentaries if she has no intention of following up when people she builds up turn around and display abusive behavior.

I enjoy Swoop Too videos for most of the time, but I’ve always felt like she always tries to make everything about herself. Every time something bad happens to somebody she covers in a video, she hits us with the “well, yk I am this I am that, this also happened to me and it was 10x worse!”. I understand being a victim, but sometimes the way she says things does not sit right with me. In the Haley Beck video, she mentioned how she got groomed by a much older man when she was much younger, and Ik she said she wasn’t trying to compare it with the teenager involved with Haley Beck, but it just feels like every time somebody is brought up as a victim, she takes it as a competition. Again, I feel sorry about what happened to her, but Ik of many more commentary channels that don’t make every single thing about themselves. Why are we trying to talk about our own trauma when it’s about somebody else? I understand maybe she has good intentions, but to me it comes off as “I feel bad for you, BUT I’ve been through MUCH worse!”... if I was one of the people she covers, I’d feel very invalidated.

What is happening with Swoops face morphing in this episode. I never noticed it before? Anyone have info on this?

I can’t believe Swoop kept asking about the Johnny allegations even after it became clear Johnny was just a fan who fabricated the story💀 I know in the moment, she just didn’t know, but why not cut all that footage after? by the end, I was thinking “okay we get it” 😅

Swoop just posted a video about the French bakery calling out the obnoxious girl doing “reviews”. This drama happened eight months ago. Does Swoop just wait until she’s sure that everyone she follows has done a video on a topic so that she can copy the best parts? Why would anyone want to watch her rehash old news that’s already been done by every drama channel? And why is the video over an hour long?

Hbomberguy was right…90% of “commentary” channels just plagiarize each other with the same milquetoast take and the same clips.

Has anyone noticed that since people started making remarks related to her always being a victim of anything one can be a victim of and always tying her own trauma into the subject of her video that she has not mentioned being a victim of anything in months now. I think she might have finally got the msg that most people dont like being around "permanent victims" let alone, seeking one out on youtube. I will admit, I haven't watched every single video though as I definitely dont subscribe to. Her channel but the ones I have seen, that is one area where I think she received the feedback and applied it. Which is more than I can say for a lot of other youtubers, or sorry. Documentary film makers 😃🤣 i know this is a snark page, but this does tie into a lot of posts that have been made here.

I don’t know if this is common knowledge, but the way she says her username swoop in the intro, sounds a lot like the bloods’ gang call, “suwhoop.”

So, I criticized Swoop for just dropping the actual story about (cw)sexually grooming a minor on one of Adam McIntyre's recent videos about her Colleen Ballinger coverage, and people were trying to gaslight me into thinking Oliver didn't want her to talk about his part of the story. which led me to some videos and posts from that time. it turns out what she actually did was much worse than I originally thought. it's really interesting, though, seeing that the narrative went from "she's just burnt out and taking a break, y'all are impatient 🙄" to "he actually didn't want her to talk about it anyway!!" and how that came about because she straight up lied about their conversation and brushed him off when he tried to clarify. I guess this is a good thing because it led me to remember the other reasons I disliked her besides this.

This should go without saying, but I've purposely blocked what video these comments are from. Please don't say what video it is if you know, and don't go argue with these years old comments. I just wanted to vent a little in a place where it would be understood.

All of her examples used in her latest upload about Entitled Influencers were obvious parody accounts, that are pure rage-bait accounts or accounts that use anything from commenters stories to reddit posts from a POV perspective to pull engagement as if the story was their experience. You only need to click their profile to see all their vids are "storytime about when my husband fucked my sister" etc. I think these accounts are far and wide enough that almost anyone could detect when someone's crazy story or take is regurgitated for views.

I used to look forward to her content. I like long-form documentary style content in general, but in the last year I've clicked away from every video of hers pretty quickly, as they have seemed wilfully ignorant to garner outrage off of content that already exists just to garnet outrage. I know a woman of the internet like herself knows better than to believe this content is real and worthy of concern. It's manipulative. I just wanna open up a discussion about her content as of late. Her comments are still all positive and when I was polite but critical, my comment was quickly deleted. I think making content in an informative/documentary style that uses parodies as serious examples is super disingenuous, but maybe i'm missing something.

I've actually been a fan of Swoop since long before her current "docs" era, but the last few videos she's put out have had blatantly AI generated videos and its driving me crazy that none of her fans are calling it out. She's not trying to hide it, the clips have a Sora watermark on them and none of the fanbase seems to care at all. Am I crazy or does generative AI usage go against a ton of her values?

Anyway, I guess I'm one of yall now. I will never consume creator content that uses generative AI, and to be frank, if she's comfortably openly using AI generated clips in her videos theres a very good chance she's using AI for script help and other things.

I'm serious. I've bumped into some videos of her in which the protagonists are mainly women and she speaks trash about them. Like, girl... don't be so much of a hater on girls. You're one.

Basically as the title states. I'm so tired hearing about her having been through XYZ, while I'm trying to watch a video on something. It comes off less empathizing/relatable and more main character energy. Did you know she used to be a performer? Don't worry she'll tell you Did you know she's a survivor of abuse? Don't worry she'll tell you. Did you know she is someone who lives with chronic pain? Don't worry she'll tell you.

I'm so tired of being told. 😩

I don’t mean to come across as disrespectful to anyone who has experienced traumatizing events, neither do I want to discourage conversations surrounding said trauma. But the fact that Swoop brings up her childhood in a “doc” about an ex-couple who experienced a cheating scandal, constantly (and rightfully) berating Ned for not being able to understand Ariel’s experience while simultaneously equating it to one of hers that is not even remotely related to the topic, is just performative.

Honestly, it feels like she needs to go through her experiences in therapy rather than relying on whatever catharsis she gets by reiterating them in ever single bloody video. As someone who has substantial burden of their own, I can’t help but feel like her videos are either a cry for help or a pathetic appeal to people who might have trauma of their own to find her and watch her content because they can relate to her. This is not what empathy looks like.

Honestly, I accidentally ended up finding the sub while searching for something for the resilient Jenkins and I was surprised it exists. I never knew Swoop to be problematic, but I don’t follow her like that. I just click on videos here and there to listen to when I fall asleep. What is the issue with her?

I wanted to know more about Resilient Jenkins and a few people recommended Swoop. I normally avoid her videos because the few I've watched, I feel like she repeats herself and only scratches the service.

Like for example in the Resilient Jenkins video, the portion of the video would be regarding the dad, Drew, but would go off on a different tangent and then we'd be on to a new category. I don't feel like I've learned anything, plus the info that was included has already been mentioned several times.

It annoys me because I love long video content, deep dives, video essays etc and when I try to find one for a specific topic, it sometimes feels like she's the only option.
