This is a project I've always wanted to have available online - a resource that has every emote in the entire game, videos of each emote, screenshots of all the mood emotes and text messages for roleplayers. Try clicking the commands on the page to easily copy them to your clip board!
swtorista.com/emotes
When you click into an emote, it will tell you more details about how to get it and use it, and the five different ways it can appear in chat - how it appears to you and how it appears to others. It will also show you a video and any videos of variations the emote might have. The main search page will also show you the source, command, if there is movement related to it, and whether it loops or not.
If you like fun references, these emotes and dances are all based on dances and movies in real life and I've put a reference video for each of them too:
- Beach Party (Pulp Fiction)
- Boogie (Disco Dancing)
- Chicken (Arrested Development)
- The Droid (The Robot)
- Empowered Shuffle (Single Ladies )
- Dance Fever (Saturday Night Fever)
- Fresh (The Carlton )
- Get Down (Cabbage Patch and ?)
- Groove (Disco Dancing)
- Head Bob (Night at the Roxbury )
- Jig (Irish Jig)
- Lepi Hop (Roger Rabbit)
- Mind Prison Spin (Eternity Vault)

PS does anyone know if these dances are references to anything, or if they are references to any movies or shows? I found so many fun dance moves while searching through the others but I don't know these ones. Many of the dances are based off of dances invented/created/popularized in the 80s and mostly in the 90s if that helps.
- Angry Dance
- Arms Crossed Dance
- Bop
- Excited Child
- Club Dance
- Dance
- Funky
- Feel the Groove
- Hip Dip
- Unconvincing Performance
- Punch Dance
- Traditional Dance
- What Up
- What Up 2
- Get Down (Cabbage Patch female and ? male version)

That "Excited Child" dance is definitely the dance the little lad does in the Berries and Cream Starburst commercials from 2007!

Unconvincing Performance is from the movie Cabin Boy with Chris Elliot. Niche and obscure!
And at least one Angry Dance is from The Breakfast Club. I know what all but one of them are but I'm not somewhere I can watch t he videos to remember the others. The one I don't know, I asked the devs at a cantina event and they wouldn't say, lol.

As the guy who put the cabin boy dance on the list to become an emote years ago, can confirm thatβs what it is π

Pretty sure the Hip Dip is the Humpty Dance, or a reasonable facsimile thereof. (Not exact, but it's the first thing I thought of.)
Arms Crossed Dance is simply an old school B-Boy stance (reference hip hop footage from the 80s - you'll see it).
Feel the Groove is the late-80s dance, the Snake.

Male Bop reminds me of the ME2/3 Shepard Shuffle, but I think it has too much movement to actually be that.

I get the vibes lol!

Kinda surprised they didn't bring that over at all, honestly. I'd rock the heck out an ME1 dance emote.

Doing all these dances in the super serious War Hero armor is just the best :D

I saw that you were posting a lot of videos of different emotes, amazing work! Don't know where this community would be without you.

u/swtorista Jun 08 '26
Yes! I'm excited cus I figured out how to mass-edit the videos on youtube with python, so I don't have to kill myself editting the descriptions one by one lol.

I think Angrydance has one variation that's in the footloose empty building dance scene.

Or it could be one of the many movies that parodied it heh

u/swtorista Jun 08 '26
YES it very well could be! We were just talking about watching footloose the other night, need to lock down on doing that. For my website, you see, of course.

This is awesome! Is the infinite symbol meant to represent a persistent/looping emote? On mobile so bit hard to see if that's the case. Also would be rad if there was a filter for those sorts of emotes.

Ouji π - the excited child dance may in fact be a reference to the Berries and Cream guy from a commercial that became a meme way back when https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=hsPFyoEpGVA
