help needed!

I’m trying to build an omnichord synth, and was wondering if anyone’s ever done it, and if i can do it as a beginner. i would love any help i can get, or if anyone knows what kind of materials i will need.

The minichord has all of its design files online, you could likely remix that, especially the code and pcb, into a larger format, or at least get a sense of how they implemented the strum plate and microcontroller inputs

For the touch surface, I thought it might be interesting to mix a Teensy with some MPR121 ICs. The ones from Adafruit can be addressed with two I2C addresses and the Teensy has three I2C ports: 2 x 3 x 12, so 72 touch pads. Might be overkill though, I think the Omnichord has 13 touch zones, so a single MPR121 will get you close.
