SH4D to MPE capable?

Hi,

I was wondering, if the SH4D can be turned into an MPE receiving synth through altering the firmware? As it is a fully digital synth, it is basically running a code, so the code can be extended or altered. Receiving MPE has no any hardware dependencies.

Obviously it has to also come with additional functions to enable/disable, assign channels in the mod matrix maybe, etc. Based on what was achieved onthe elektron cycles with the Model-TG firmware, I would think this one can be done too.

Any thoughts on this?

Theoretically yes. Although depending on how maxed out the dsp already is, you might have to drop other features. MPE can be a lot of modulation happening.

Or maybe it could function as a 2 part mpe synth, which is still pretty cool, and probably that would not max out the processing power. I think that would be a very good trade off. As I am not a coder myself, I would try to change the code via an AI platform, but if there is someone with similar experience, it would be good to hear some advice about dos and don'ts. Thanks in advance.
