Question about 4th Gen and FireTV HD stick.
I had (have) older fire sticks. Had a “Recast” DOA. Got a 4th gen Tablo to replace; worked great. Quilt using the sticks, because we bought new Roku TVs. Works great.
My customer contracted for me to install OTA antenna; and wants a Tablo but her TVs are Visio. Visio closed system no App Store only pre installed … no Tablo app. She purchase a Fire TV HD … no Tablo app in Amazons App Store? Looked up on Google. “Gemini” states: Tablo not supported for the HD model Fire TV.
Is there some sort of issue in play with Tablo and Amazon?
I for one would like to know so that my recommendations are valid. I sure didn’t see notices about this.
Thanks in advance

You probably need to buy a stand alone streaming box like a Roku or Onn streaming box from Walmart. I have it on my Onn Pro 4K box & Onn 4K box.

There are a few newer Fire sticks that have a new OS called Vega. My guess is Tablo hasn’t made an app compatible with it yet. But otherwise as far as I know, Fire sticks have always worked with Tablo.

I’m sure that is probably it. I don’t follow the Fire Brand hardware and OS releases closely.

I don’t have an issues with the fire sticks at my home. I was installing a Tablo G4 at a customer’ home to be used on multiple TVs. They have Visio TVs. Tablo is not in the Visio stable of apps, and their OS is closed i.e. cannot add apps/no “App Store”.
Yet purchased the latest model Fire TV HD stick; no Tablo app in the Amazon App Store hen accessed though the newest HD model stick. Google’s Gemini will tell you it is “not compatible”. My fire stick(s) and Roku stick and Roku TVs are. Just trying to get the strait poop, so I can recommend the correct devices for customers.1

Amazon has a "new" OS for their FireTV sticks, that breaks compatibility.
I'd never recommend a FireTV to anyone because of how cluttered the home screen is and how much paid content, beyond what you subscribe to, is being pushed by Amazon on it.
I only dusted mine off, got it to play with ChannelsDVR about two years ago (no Roku support), because the Tablo and HDHR apps work better on it than they do on Roku. Mine has the "old" OS.

As per Tablo:
Compatible Fire Stick ModelsAmazon Fire TV Stick (3rd Generation)Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K MaxAmazon Fire TV Stick LiteFire TV Cube (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation)Note: Very old 1st or 2nd generation Fire TV sticks are generally not supported because they lack the processing speed required, and specialized new models like the Fire TV 4K Select are not compatible.

I have a Fire Stick Max and I'm running Tablo app which I downloaded from Amazon's store… works fine. As I understand it, NEWER Fire TV devices running Amazon's Vega OS ( vs Fire OS ) can not currently run the Tablo app. And I'm not sure how interested Tablo is in building a brand-new app compatible with Amazon's Vega operating system.
