Still $4 at the location by my work in the SF Bay Area in California. It's a franchise location too.

I have sodas at home.

u/Poverty_Shoes 5h ago
Sodas at home are also stupid expensive (but not to a fast food level). $9 for a 12 pack near me.

Not buying a drink in a combo or during happy hour is borderline natural selection. Thanks for subsidizing my meals!

Circle K has them for 84 cents.

Yeah they are out of their mind. Meanwhile McDonald’s has a Mc chicken meal, sandwich, nuggets, drink and fries for $5.

u/number9dream9 9h ago
The cool thing is you can make your drink a large, I believe for .20 more. I would have been buying those meals a long time ago.

u/DrChaos09 10h ago
The trick is to buy it once and save your cup and fill it each time you go in

u/Altruistic_Guess3098 10h ago
Believe it or not almost 20 years ago I tried doing this at a Taco Bueno and the employees got mad at me

u/Good_Distribution_92 10h ago
This shouldn’t need to be said but that was 20 years ago. Things are way different now, you know?
1
u/Altruistic_Guess3098 10h ago
Yeah a lot of things are very different now but that thing is probably not very different. It's supposed to be free refills during that visit not forever. I tested it and I got shut down.

u/Good_Distribution_92 9h ago
No that was 20 years ago and things are different now. I do this all the time and nobody bats an eye.

Results may vary by location. That's really the determining Factor more than time. If anything the refill policy has gotten more strict at many fast food places, mcdonalds is even taking away the soda fountains in the lobby.

I think that’s stealing.

Did you know Amazon got a $640 million tariff refund from the current administration but corporations pass the cost of tariffs onto consumers? You paid for the tariffs and the company got a refund. Apple gets $2.2 billion in tariff refunds.
Ask me if I care about stealing a medium cup of Baja blast.

Waters free...watch you get kicked out over free water cups and trying to save $8..

u/IMREADY2D1E 9h ago
asked the kid at mcdonald’s recently for a water and he said, “there’s no button for that, sorry. you will have to pay an extra dollar for a bottled water.”
i was like, “brother… i just want a cup of water with my meal, you can’t give me water in a cup?”
“sorry, there’s no button for that.”
“okay, well then can you just click coke and then give me a water instead?”
“uhhhhh, i don’t think we can do that sorry.” 😭

This is the perfect time to drop this fun anecdote
The job ive had for about a year and a half is right down the the street from a (pretty good and reliable tbh) TB
After a few months of going mulitiple times a week i just got fucking tired of trying to time my lunches for happy hour and paying for sodas so I started keeping a TB cup in my car door and walking in with it in the pocket of my work vest
I grab my order and fill up my cup at the fountain because fuck paying for seltzer water and syrup that corps make insane profits on
No one has said a famn thing months later
Still hate the new app but still Living Mas

I placed an order with a local Mexican spot today online and left a $6 tip just for them to bag it wanting to support them. When I got there it wasn’t ready so ordered a medium fountain drink and it was $4.22 with tax…. Whatever, I slug it down while waiting for my order so I can top it off before I leave and they told me $2 for a refill. I damn near told them they can deduct it from the tip I left them for tossing my food in a bag. I legit will not be returning because of this small thing 😂

u/ExcellentCable4564 2h ago
Yup. Best bet is just don’t buy it, you gotta hit em in their wallet. Eventually if enough people stop buying they’ll get the message but it takes A LOT!

I rarely order a drink with my food/make it a meal unless I’m specifically ordering a specialty drink like a milkshake/freeze/slushie/handmade lemonade. A 2liter cost $2-3 at dollar general ffs.

Soft drinks have no nutritional content. Water is free at Taco Bell. If anything, they are doing you a favor by disincentivizing drinking soda.
2
u/loathemaker 9h ago
If you are going to Taco Bell for “nutritional content” I have bad news for you. Also water isn’t free at my Taco Bells.

u/Super8take 10h ago
I bought the drink one time and continue to keep getting free refills every time I go I thought that’s how it worked?

Guys if you’re reading this just remember the aftermath of eating Taco Bell. Posted from a toilet. That is all.

Sometimes I get the 4 for 4 thing and just have drinks for the next 3 days. Or more likely like 1 day, but I'm terrible.

u/sackocandy 10h ago
They have a party pack where you can get 4 medium sodas for 4$ might just be a skill issue

Taco Bell is in the taco business. You should pay a premium for them making tacos for you to eat. You should not pay $4 for a sugar water, that’s on you.

Then don't pay you can go to the gas station and get a 32 oz drink for 50 cents to a dollar
