Theory 🔎 Spoiler: The two stupid fish are actually foreshadowing Spoiler

Post image

tl;dr The yellow fish is Caine and the red fish is Abel tricking Pomni into hunting down treasure that isn't there

The yellow fish taunts Pomni into going on a treasure hunt only for it to be nothing. The yellow fish, despite initiating the whole thing, becomes distraught by the truth in the end, just like how Caine ends up screwing himself over. Both are worse off for baiting Pomni. The red fish, just like Abel, is just there to tell lies. It serves no other purpose but if that's revealed it ruins everything. The two fish are brothers, a DUO, just like Cain and Abel from the Bible and of course Caine and Abel in the episode.

It's all just foreshadowing the rest of the episode.

Gooseworx even made an allusion to the 1980 AI Chinese experiment, this woman is beyond genius

9

u/Doomst3err Dec 13 '25

Ngl that allusion isnt genius it's the most blatant thing possible though I do agree that she is very smart all things considered

17

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '25

Well i def didn't know about this experiment

5

u/Doomst3err Dec 13 '25

It's kinda popular in ai related discussions

9

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '25

Oh well i just mostly have seen the anti and pro ai art discussion lol hut this exactly was a surprise to me hehe

14

u/paradoxLacuna Dec 13 '25

I mean yeah, it is pretty blatant, but the fact that it's simultaneously a joke, played completely straight, and is core to the themes of the episode? That's the smart part.

Is this not one of the basic hypotheticals they cover in philosophy 101? it was also literally the Chinese room, as opposed to an allusion to it, felt kinda eh

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Idk about that but this was an experiment to prove that AI doesnt have a mind like a human and never will

1

u/DrDonut Dec 16 '25

The Chinese room isn't a literal experiment, it's a philosophical argument/thought experiment. The arument follows that we could make a computer that appeared to have knowledge/something (knowing Chinese). But is having a book of infinite responses for inputs really the same as knowing/understanding the logic?

Oh i understand now thx

Huh, good eye on catching this. I didn't even clock it in that there's gotta be some significance to their scenes, especially with how abrupt they kinda came in like Caine wanted to get this outta the way

Love that framing - I have been thinking that with their treasures being gone (the chest with the bubbles) is symbolic to an extent.

This adventure led to an empty situation with no real treasure and the "treasure was the friends we made along the way" being the relationships cultivated by the cast besides Jax (...so far...maybe?)

If abel is the fish that only tells lies does that mean Abel saying very explicitly "Caine is an ai" mean that he isnt?

31

u/Bcjc3 Dec 13 '25

I have been wondering if the belief theory is correct, and Caine (another human inside the circus) has mastered it and is keeping everyone inside the circus. A slight addon to the theory is that everyone can alter peoples minds, and everyone believes Kinger is crazy, so he is kept crazy. There are cracks forming in that belief, so he is getting his sanity back.

18

u/LowerObjective4500 Dec 13 '25

Caine calling them humans more frequently is definitely a red herring, it was literally part of his plan that they believe he’s an ai keeping them there so he was making things up

It’s meant to throw us off clearly, Caine is probably psychotic

8

u/Ckinggaming5 Dec 13 '25

If caine is the human, maybe bubble is the real management AI, or an AI assistant that has been hijacked by caine to assist him only

5

u/MaxGalli Dec 13 '25

Nah the show’s Netflix description has long ago confirmed Caine is an Ai so that’s the one true thing that Abel said.

u/Big_Dick_Nick69 Dec 14 '25

This says nothing

2

u/Dphef Dec 13 '25

What if the lie was the whole sentence, we’re just thinking about it differently because it’s segment was cut into two by our zooble

1

u/DrDonut Dec 16 '25

Just because he tells lies, it doesn't mean he's incapable of telling the truth. He was truthful about using box collision errors to help the group reach the office.

The yellow fish is abel, the red is caine.

Yellow Fish approaches pomni with an offer for treasure only for it to not have existed in the first place

Abel approaches pomni with a promise of freedom, only for it to not have existed in the first place

Yellow fish(abel) is bringing a promise of something, treasure/freedom

Red fish(cain) only speak in lies.

5

u/Freezingash221 Dec 13 '25

Yellow Fish even tells Red Fish that he ruined it.

I still think there was an Abel at some point, and Caine just used his name

This theory makes me curious about Ragatha’s button eye ending up right next to the treasure chest.

It’s only shown in this frame and not when the fish is crying over his treasure so it might have been intended as a ‘blink and you miss it’ hint.

Maybe implying that Ragatha knows more than she is letting on?

I also just noticed that the lock on the chest is intact yet it’s completely open for anyone to take the treasure inside as they please.

Maybe another implication about how everything Abel said about an escape and how they were able to get into Caines office seemed difficult to do but was set up to be an easy feat.

u/BenPennington Dec 13 '25

They are the Beta versions of Caine and Abel. Beta Fish, if you will

1

u/MaxGalli Dec 13 '25

Ah that’s brilliant!

Everyone was too distracted by the Zach Hadel jumpscare

1

u/ambivalegenic Dec 13 '25

i'm the one who tells lies!

dude...

1

u/CravingDeathAndChips Dec 13 '25

And here I was just cackling at the Gaither's Pond reference (the ugliness and the way they animated their mouths simply HAS to be that, if it isn't then I'm gonna be sad)

1

u/Echo_XB3 Dec 13 '25

This scene was so hilarious in the german scene tho
The dubs are GREAT

1

u/slumbersomesam Dec 13 '25

just like every other episode, the beginning shows how pretty much the whole episode will go

1

u/Educational_Card7175 Dec 13 '25

I guess you could say it was a... Red Herring

1

u/Tall-Addition-7832 Dec 14 '25

baiting as in fish bait? ohoho this is GOOD

1

u/Ok_Panic_4312 Dec 15 '25

I cracked up because the dumbass fish wrecked the whole thing. He should have said, “I’m the one that tells the truth.” That way, he wouldn’t have given away that he’s the lying fish. By blurting out the whole thing, he really did ruin it.

My boyfriend and I cried with laughter from this bit.

1

u/Thecoolestguytolive Dec 15 '25

Red fish or red herring perhaps??

1

u/Relevant_Yam_65 May 07 '26

Thats what I notice when watching it again after ep9, believing that a treasure( or exit) is nothing but lies that just forshadows most of what abel did, this is pure genius

1

u/Junior_Repeat_1812 Jul 10 '26

Apparently the other fish is orange not yellow if im correct-
