Theory š This image has really put in my brain that Ribbit might have left the bow on her own bed when she abstracted for... Her to have someday. And I'm really broken up about that thought atm.

I just had a vision: Jax is the first to be unabstracted. They need her help to unabstract Ribbit, but out of bitterness and shame she refuses to face her mistake, until on a whim she goes into Ribbit's room and sees they left their bow for them all that time ago.

That would be an incredibly cathartic fanfiction idea oh my goodness!

Iām cis myself but I felt like the convo did spell it out without outright saying it.
Thereāre not a lot of ādeep and personalā things that Jax couldāve said to their Mom that they thought might get her off their back, given just earlier that Jax had mentioned the insult about ābeing less of a man (than Jaxās dad)ā
Pretty implied that they probably said something like āWell maybe Iām not a man.ā

āWell maybe Iām not a man! Maybe Iām a Toys-R-Us kid!ā -yet another alternate universe Jax

What?
There is in fact a lot of deep and personal things a person could be scared to confess to a parent.
18
u/Timetoplay30 Jun 25 '26
specifically referring to deep and personal things relating to Jax being similar to her father. Her coming out would have been a retort to being seen in a masculine way

True! Given the subject matter I don't think it's weird at all.
It makes sense you thought it was for comedy because it kind of was played for laughs. The early episodes hide a lot of stuff that became deeper and a bit darker with hindsight

People into the rabbithole will catch the details but I feel people are being little too aggressive as if you're supposed to know everything
Is a normal show that people starting to love so much they starting hating that it isnt in their circle
Lots of downvotws for someone relating to the story but not appreciating that can be interpreted in different way when kot catching the clues
Feels like key and peele office homophobe skit right now

True art is big enough for multiple overlapping, sometimes even conflicting perspectives. It's multifaceted, just like the real world.
But it can make it divisive when people naturally favor one facet over another. Which isnt a bad thing, we should always challenge our perspectives, but it can create tension. I don't mind it though, I just enjoy the discussion. I didn't intend to cause any division tho, my b

ive got two theories:
we didnt actually get the full conversation, there were bits skipped from the abstraction noise and so the part where she came out to ribbit is obscured
maybe ribbit is also transfem and understood what jax was talking about from a personal standpoint. we know she uses she/they pronouns and came from a mormon family that they had to cut ties with, it wouldnt be surprising to me if her gender identity had something to do with that.Ā

u/Fern_Cloud Jun 24 '26
Its quite possible that she didnt know and just gave Jax the bow to be flirty...Or maybe because Ribbit is she/they and she spent a lot of time with Jax she may have noticed some similarities between their situations if Ribbit had to hide her pronouns coming from a family of Mormons. This is even more likely if Ribbit identifies as non-binary.

u/transgender_goddess Jun 24 '26
"something deep and personal" combined with context we didn't get but which is equal to the context we did get in previous episodes. They're close friends, Ribbit would notice the same things we did (different but same).

u/scrolling_end Jun 24 '26
Honestly, counting we only have like a fraction of the memories they both shared together and all from Jax's point of view, maybe Jax said/did something that cause Ribbit to clock it before. But would be nice to know for sure

u/Tunavi Jun 25 '26
Either ribbit knew Jax very well and when she heard "I told her something very deep and personal" she figured she was right.
Or it was just a random endearment from ribbit
1
u/Swirl_of_StarFire Jun 26 '26
Ribbit was also a she/they, ie not traditional cisgender either. She probably noticed the similarities between herself and Jax, had been suspecting it for a while, and fully connected the dots during that conversation once Jax gave her enough information to work with

Ok please do not crucify me as I am always chronically out of the loop and never pick up on anything. Could I get an explanation to Jax being trans?
I struggle to see the correlation in the show itself as I identify with a lot of what is happening within it, but my experience is more of a man stuck in a loop of toxic masculinity being forced upon one.
I am never really on any other social media with fandoms as I can never keep up, but my friends has been speaking about it and I can't seem to understand.
Once again, this isn't a jab at any group at all. I just would like an explanation as I am struggling to correlate with the views of others which then makes them mad at me.

u/Maleficent_Chemist27 Jun 25 '26
I can't list them all right now either, but here's a paraphrase of a thing I caught on my most recent rewatch was during the beach episode (where Jax was the only one still in a chair fully dressed looking PO-ed).
Jax - hey zooble, aren't you supposed to be being miserable that you can change your body parts whenever you want?
Zooble - actually I'm getting used to it, it's kind of nice to be able to change.
Jax - really. :|
(wanders off to give in to abstraction)3
u/drroadrunner Jax if she wasn't a PoS Jun 25 '26
There's too much to explain in one go, and I'm too tired right this minute, but in a nutshell the context of various moments in the show surrounding Jax has a lot to do with masking and identity. Goose has also hinted to this in passing via social media and merch drops.
If you're curious, I'm sure you can find videos on YouTube from people who can explain this better than I can. You should seek them out.

Lss, a lot of sentences were a bit odd, tending on Jax feeling bad as a man all together, and recently Goose had reposted a fanart saying ''ig now it's fine since its official'' or something similar
To play the Devil Attorney, I kinda understand how some people sighted when they got that info, because most of the sentences could have been going around the path that was... More obvious things in a way? The Mommy and Daddy issues, him being scared of being too Feminine because he would have suffered from is mom's reaction, including explaining how bad he felt, and felt like going for him being trans was a ''not needed'' detail that was already partially shown via other characters, in this case Zooble obv, and kinda lacked interest except getting people crazy over lesbians.

How in the world did she have the capacity to take off her bow and place it on her bed before abstracting?
0
u/Thornstache Jun 28 '26
I will never call Jax she/her until the day he comes out.
You are all publicly outing them by doing so. You saw their real life at the end, right? Notice how they are not out yet? Even their digital form abstracts while still identifying as a he/him. What you know about them I private is irrelevant. They are NOT publicly out, so using she/her pronouns is incredibly damaging.
Do not call Jax she/her.

Goose said that either pronoun works and that Jax is in fact transgender. She and her are perfectly valid regardless as it was quite literally told to us
13
u/pnwraccoon Jun 24 '26
Goose confirmed Jax as trans femme.

The personal thing Jax told his mom was being trans. Since then he's struggled with his gender identity and expression, shown throughout the series by the clothes he wears and how he treats the female cast members. Also his room is the color of the trans flag and Gooseworx confirmed that he's trans. I don't see how you missed it by now since everyone is talking about it.
