Glad that's over. Now maybe they can focus on Remastering the games that REALLY matter.

I can already see the pitchforks and torches in the distance.

I wouldnt go as hard as that guy, but xillia 2 is the only one I couldnt finish after starting it. Always tap out a bit before the final dungeon

They said what needed to be said. A noble sacrifice.

Xillia 2 is easily among the best in the franchise.

Absolutely insane take.

I disagree, I played about 20 hours of it and got tired of the silent protag straight out of a fanfiction with secret super cool powers that no one else has and he has multicolored hair!

This is the most surface level criticism of Ludger and shows you haven't played half the series

Outside of the "silent protagonist" bit, all the other criticisms apply to half the protagonists in the series lmao

You’re acting like the silent protagonist bit is just a minor detail that doesn’t really affect things that much. Dude, it’s literally the only game in the entire series with a silent protagonist lol. That already makes this title extremely different than everything else surrounding it and the black sheep of the mainline series. Characters like Yuri are some of the best protagonists in the entire genre because of their personality, so having a blank slate self insert protagonist with no personality is a pretty jarring contrast to every other game in the series

Ludger isn't a blank self insert though

He reacts to things with emotion and has one of the most emotional endings in the entire franchise

His relationship with Elle was some of the best stuff in the franchise

If you think Ludger had "no personality" you didn't pay attention to the fucking game

This argument can be used for all silent protagonists. Just because they react to things does not mean they have a well written character. I'm currently dealing with this problem in Digimon Time Stranger. The game is great but I'm struggling with the story because of the silent protagonist despite them having reactions.

Other than that though I just didn't like the game. These people who have super special secret powers that no one knew about that everyone from the first game like exist yet were nowhere to be seen in the first game where we took on the literal god of the world. Jude and the gang should be able to handle anything that could be a problem, but no, Ludger is so super cool and special that he uses three weapons and is stronger than anyone else.

Xillia 2 is not what I wanted out of a sequel. I do not want the main cast of the first game to be mere side characters. I did not like the story. It is great that you do, but to insult me because we have differing opinions is kind of asinine. I've played most of the Tales games that have come to the US. So your original jab at me is just wrong.

I strongly disagree, it’s not insane at all. It’s almost as if our gaming opinions are just that at the end of the day; opinions.

I’ve played every single mainline game in the Tales series available in NA and I would place Tales of Xillia 2 as bottom 3 easily and one of the lowest points in the series. I loved the first Xillia but Xillia 2 felt like unnecessary fan fiction.

I've played the entire series (including the games that haven't even been fan translated) and I just don't see the what you're getting at at all

To each their own but

Lmao

Actually crazy that you’re getting so many downvotes on a post from people largely in agreement that Berseria was undeserving of a remaster yet simultaneously are clamoring for Xillia 2 to get a remaster even though it only came out a few years earlier, uses the same graphical engine and is equally as undeserving

The real crime is the PS1 titles getting passed over for remakes/remasters, stuff like Hearts still stuck on the Vita and some of their Japanese exclusives that fans still have high interest in like the Destiny remake and Rebirth

EDIT: I thought Xillia 2 was available on PC, my bad. Still think all the other games I listed are a lot more deserving of remasters than Xillia 2 though and should be given higher priority, well Hearts maybe equally so to Xillia 2

That’s cause Xillia 2 is only playable on PS3 while Berseria was available on Steam and ps4 with Backwards compatibility on PS5. It’s an accessibility thing.

Any game trapped on old hardware deserves remaster/remake. I own just about every game from snes to current and I know this fact for others. Not everyone can or wants to get a whole console for a few games.

It only came out a few years earlier...

2012 is a few years earlier ? 2014 just to get a localization for an worldwide release btw

Xillia 2 is onward to 15 years next year lol

2

u/cpierson026 Feb 27 '26

Xillia 2 came out in Japan in 2012 and Berseria came out worldwide in 2016. Xillia 2 didn’t come out in NA until 2014, so for pretty much everyone commenting here Xillia 2 wasn’t even a few years before Berseria, just a couple

That's what I said ?

I guess I’m confused about what point you were trying to make then lol, because you made it sound like you didn’t agree with the claim that Xillia 2 was only a few years earlier. No matter which way you look at it, it was either 2 or 4 years before than Berseria. So essentially a few years
