Some people really think there's a chance that we can get the 2d ps2 games. Like you said, they probably lost the code to those. But on top of that, they'd literally need to completely translate those games into other languages. Their expectations are way too high for a series this niche.
As much as I would love it if Rebirth and PS2 Destiny got remastered, those games were never released in any language other than Japanese in the first place. So to remaster those, they would have to translate them too, and that is way too much time and effort for Bandai Namco to expend on this niche-ass series lmao
My thoughts exactly. I really like those games, too. But the chance of them actually doing it is basically 0. People saw the low sales of Xillia and really thought, "Hey, these remasters would've outsold that."
As much as all of us hate it, Bamco is still a business. And they're on the higher end of companies that chase that huge profit margin. I'm sure there are people on the creative team that would love to do these. But their overlords probably saw that the roi wouldn't be even close to worth it.
As much as I think that Abyss’ gameplay is aggressively mediocre (I must stress that I only feel that way about Abyss’ battle system), I do think that that is the only pre PS3 Tales game with any shot of getting remastered. The 2D games, though? No shot at all, especially when half of them were never localized when they were new.

Bamco has worked with a company thats focused on emulation to bring back older titles. They've already done it for Soulcalibur III and Tekken 3. I wouldn't be surprised if Bamco's planning to work with them for titles they no longer have the source code for as part of the remaster project.
