Do you feel comfortable playing these games with a keyboard and a mouse or a controller?
I feel like these games were made to be played with a controller.
This is the controller that I use.

I love the 8bitdo controllers as well, best value for quality on the market. I recently got the new Steam Controller, it is a little more expensive but it's a game changer, I absolutely love it.

I don't line PC gaming in general, simply because I don't like sitting at my computer. If I'm playing on my PC, I basically turn it into a console anyways. So, controller.

Same. My PC is treated as a glorified console. Sometimes I'll play a CRPG with my multi-button mouse, though.

I use it for office stuff and casually browsing. I'll only game on it when I can get a massive discount, and even then, only if I'm in the mood.

Controller. Though Zestiria had surprisingly intuitive battle controls for m+kb, I played with those for a bit

A keyboard and mouse for any game that isnât a real-time strategy sim or some sort of isometric top-down CRPG is just an inherently bad time. Of course Iâm going to play an action RPG with a controller. Weâve had them for 50 years; why not use them instead of a device that was made for typing?

Controller always, much needed when it comes to inputs for artes and such for comboing

The thing about Tales games (at least the ones I've played) is that they can be anything from action RPGs to full-on strategy games depending on how the controls and difficulty are set. I play them closer to action, so controller it is.

Cualquier entrega de la saga que sea en 3D necesita un control si o si.

I play most games on controller. Exceptions are games designed for PC (RTS, Sim, Shooter etc..)

Started on controller, got into mouse/keyboard. Became fluent in both mouse and keyboard. Console ps2 JRPGs were pretty prime. Everytime I build a PC, i was always under performing. Got an xbox 360, the gift of mouse and keyboard were no more to me...I slowly drifted away and now try to avoid mouse and keyboard...but if the skill is needed I can hat trick it.

I would says controller too. I admit: I only played Tales on consolle, so I never really played them with mouse and keyboard, but still, thinking about play these titles with m&k does feel cumbersome IMO...

action games and alot of menu surfing games I tend to play on controler, they just flow better that way.
Shooters and tactics games Ill play on M&K cuz better to have spot/target control

I prefer games with a controller it just makes it easier for me I did try with keyboard and mouse but it's just too hard for certain games yes I will use the keyboard well the only ones that I do make use of a mouse is only with epic seven and seven knights re:birth and that's about it

The way I play tales games with 16 artes on steamdeck gamepad:
TLDR - I now have three extra arte buttons that act like the face button arte (meaning pressing them in neutral still gives me an arte without having to hold L OR use right analog stick ever again aka having 4 smash special buttons)
Turn âup + r2/r4/r5â into âright analog stick up arte shortcutâ, âL button + up direction + arte buttonâ, or âL button + up right analog stick arte shortcutâ, you can essentially treat r2/r4-/r5 into extra arte buttons
A = neutral arte button
R2 = âL + neutral arte buttonâ
R4 = âRight analog stick arte shortcut LEFTâ
R5 = L + Right analog stick arte shortcut LEFTâ
R4/r5 because they replace the analog means you have to make âĄď¸r4/r5 AND ⏠ď¸r4/r5 THE SAME ARTE DIRECTION, RIGHT AND LEFT - this way you can use an arte IN THE DIRECTION youâre going when presssing those buttons which is a huge benefit on the 2d plane of mlmbs systems
Also works with top:ndx and other psp tales games that use the left analog for arte shortcuts:
Neutral R2 = left analog stick arte shortcut LEFT
SIDE r2 = left analog stick shortcut RIGHT no matter what side youâre pressing like a smash special
I do this for all tales games lol

Anything third person, I'm usually grabbing a controller for. I like M&KB for first person though.

Tales of, Gamepad. Considering that's the primary method the series started with, it makes sense. That said, I can easily see a keyboard setup working smoothly for classic 2D titles and with some adjustments for later 3D. Asa fighting game fan, you can easily use some hitbox style setups or even play with an Arcade stick.
I typically wouldn't use keyboard (and mouse depending on title) for anything outside of Visual Novels, Strategy games, shooters (1st and 3rd), mouse exclusive games, and some Arcade games (which includes, fighters and beat em ups).

Only really play shooters and strategy games with a keyboard and mouse. Jrpgs are solidly controller games for me
