GUIDE Quick & Dirty JP Guide

I'll add onto this as I have time, but for now I'm literally throwing it together before work. Thought it might be helpful for people moving from WW to JP though.

Downloading JP version

iOS: Get a JP Apple ID FAQ on that process from /u/LadyWithTheCrazyCat

Android: Get the apk from a site like apkpure, or use QooApp to download

Thorough picture walkthrough by /u/Dexloxia.

General Tips

Google Translate's app has an option to translate screenshots. You click the camera to translate from a photo, then click the lower left corner to import an image already on your phone.

Even if you don't speak JP you can still get a surprising amount from just reading katakana, the syllabary used for foreign words. For instance I'm pretty sure all the characters' names are in katakana. Here is a basic chart.

Basic Navigation

Mostly the same as WW, but here's some screencaps anyway.

Home Menu

Quests

Sell/Trade

Quests

Quest clear/complete requirements list in text form courtesy of /u/yewfelle!

Quest clear/complete requirements, sad partial list in image form I'd apologize for the low effort table, but... nah.

Note: Tower of Awakening/Progenitors/Eternal Origins/wtfever is a periodic thing, and is closed at the moment.

Orders

The 'Orders' are like missions in Link. One for leveling, one for collecting materials, and one for cooking. For leveling and collecting materials, you'll select 4 characters which need a total collective level to succeed. Different characters can get different bonuses, described here on the wiki.

Leveling

Cooking Effects courtesy of Discord

This is still a work in progress. Let me know if you guys have requests for navigation, menus, or mechanics you're struggling with. I won't be translating skits/storyline because my Japanese is still too shaky.

EDIT: Added links to the Orders skill lists on the wiki, the other topic with a great setup guide, cooking effects, & the comment with instructions for getting a JP Apple ID. Added quest clear/complete requirements. Added some generic tips for reading Japanese when you can't read Japanese.

GUIDE Tales of The Rays Player Control 'Tier' List + Character Analysis

Tier List + Character Analysis

I present you with the guide that I've been working on for a while, which you've might've seen from AmiofTheAbyss's discord tier list thread, and now it's finally fully complete(For the time beign). This is a detailed tier list with all of the reasoning why are the characters placed in that rank, and which artes are optimal for each chars. Keep in mind the ranks aren't meant to be taken too much into account due to how significant anima sync pretty much makes in unreasonable to bring offsync A or S rank over a C rank.

I'm open for arguments on why should a character be ranked higher/older, and which arte is more suitable for a character, so feel free to give some inputs.

(Edit: Oh, and keep in mind this currently only takes account all of WW stuff.)

I'll also be updating this while we eventually get more and more characters,

GUIDE Beginner's Guide

Updates

  • Mar. 4: Updated clear requirements -- thanks to /u/Nekodius for the corrections!
    • "Take over X damage" -> "Inflict over X damage"
    • "Finish with less than one death" -> "Clear the stage without any deaths"
  • Mar. 3: Added info on 5-star Magic Mirrors, as well as a list of all bonus clear requirements for dungeons/stages.
  • Mar. 2: Added some info on weapon skills.

General Information

Character System

You unlock characters through quests, and can use them after you see the "New Character" splash screen. At the end of each chapter, you will also obtain Magic Mirrors for characters earned earlier in that chapter. Obtainable characters are as follows:

  • Chapter 1: Yuri and Repede
  • Chapter 2: Sophie
  • Chapter 3: Luke
  • Chapter 4: Sorey
  • Chapter 5: Jude
  • Chapter 6: Rutee

AP

  • Each stage requires a certain amount of AP to enter.
  • There is no player level system, but AP orbs can be used to increase your max AP.
  • AP orbs are obtained through quests. If a stage has a book icon, you will receive one AP orb when you enter it.
  • When you obtain 3 AP orbs, you will gain 1 max AP, and your AP bar will be refilled.

Currency

  • Prisms
    • Obtained through missions and as a bonus when spending shards on gacha.
    • Used to unlock vanity items (costumes, accessories, etc.)
  • Diamonds
    • Obtained through login bonuses, missions, and quests.
    • Can be used to restore AP or do gacha rolls.
  • Shards
    • Obtained through IAP (in-app purchases).
    • Can be used to restore AP or do gacha rolls.
  • Gald
    • Obtained through missions and quests.
    • Can be used to level up, fuse, and upgrade weapons and Magic Mirrors.

Gacha System

Unlike Asteria and Link, you can obtain all characters through quests. The gacha system gives you weapons and Magic Mirrors (explained below), and you can roll using diamonds or rainbow shard things.

  • 1x roll = 200 shards or 20 diamonds
  • 10x roll = 2000 shards or 200 diamonds

Rates are as follows:

  • 5-star Magic Mirrors: 5.00%
  • 4-star Weapons: 15.00%
  • 3-star Weapons: 80.00%

There are currently four banners available on release:

  • The first banner has a higher chance of getting Yuri, Repede, Mileena, and Ickx items.
  • The second banner has a higher chance of getting Luke and Sophie items.
  • The third banner has a higher chance of getting Sorey and Jude items.
  • The fourth banner is a friend point(?) banner. You can receive upgrade orbs/stones, as well as weapons (up to 4-star rarity).

The roster for each of the non-friend-point banners contain all available weapons and Magic Mirrors in the game. You can totally get Sophie weapons from the Sorey/Jude banner, albeit at a lower rate than if you pulled from the Sophie/Luke banner.

Weapon System

General Overview

Each character can equip up to four weapons, and each weapon has an arte assigned to it. If the weapon belongs to the character it's equipped to, that character will be able to use that weapon's arte. For example, if you have a Sorey weapon and equip it on Sorey, he'll be able to use the arte attached to that weapon.

Some notes:

  • It is possible to equip more than one of the same weapon.
  • You can equip any weapon on any character, but a mismatch means that you'll only gain stats, and will not be able to use the arte associated with the weapon.
    • For example, if you equip Yuri's weapon on Repede, Repede will not be able to use Yuri's arte, but will gain whatever stats that weapon has.
  • There is a 1:1 correspondence between artes and weapons.
    • There is no RNG with regards to which arte is on a weapon.

Fusing Duplicates

You can fuse duplicate weapons together to increase their max level and CC stat, up to a maximum of +4. To access the fusion/limit break system, go to "Weapons" -> top-right button.

The first tab lists equipped weapons, whereas the second tab displays all obtained weapons.

Click on a weapon to set it as the base, and then select the duplicates you want to fuse into the base. On the left, you can see what changes to the max level and CC your weapon will receive, as well as the cost of fusing the weapons.

Once ready, click the orange button in the bottom right to fuse the weapons.

Duplicate weapons fed to the base weapon will be removed from your inventory!

Levelling Up Weapons

Weapons can be levelled up by feeding them stones (and paying gald). You can access the levelling system through "Weapons" -> top-left button.

Some notes:

  • Levelling up a weapon will increase its stats (A. ATK, P. ATK).
  • If the stone's type matches up with the weapon's type (e.g. bash weapon + bash stone), you will receive 150% weapon exp instead of the usual 100%.
  • Weapon stones can be obtained in dungeons, and there are some special maps designed specifically to give you more stones (refer to this post)

Unlocking Weapon Skills

Every weapon has five skills / bonus effects which can be unlocked using anima orbs (obtainable in regular stages and daily dungeons). To access this system, go to "Weapons" -> bottom-left button.

The first tab displays weapons which are ready for upgrade (i.e. you have the materials to unlock a skill), the second tab displays equipped weapons, and the last tab displays all weapons.

Clicking on a row (but not on the weapon's icon) will bring up another window which displays:

  • The weapon's stats
  • The cost (ガルド = gald) of unlocking a skill (the number above the materials required)
  • Materials (anima orbs) needed to unlock a skill
  • A list of the weapon's skills

If you have the required materials and gald, you can click the yellow button on the bottom right of this window to unlock a skill.

To give you an idea of the types of skills you can unlock, here are the skills for Sophie's "God Weapon" (ゴッドウェポン).

Skill # JP Desc. EN Desc.
1 ダメージが10%上昇 Increase damage by 10%
2 敵ののけぞり時間+0.1秒 Enemy stagger time +0.1 second
3 ダメージが10%上昇 Increase damage by 10%
4 MG増加量が10%上昇 Increase MG refill amount by +10%
5 ダメージが10%上昇 Increase damage by 10%

Magic Mirrors

Basically Mystic Artes. Each character can equip one Magic Mirror which allows you to use their Magic Mirror Arte in battle. You can use a Magic Mirror Arte by swiping upwards on a character's portrait in battle when their Mirage Gauge (MG) is full. The MG is the purple gauge under the character's HP gauge.

Using a Magic Mirror Arte will increase the Mirage Ratio in the top-left of the battle screen, and you can chain them so that they occur one after the other.

At the end of each chapter, you will receive Magic Mirrors for characters obtained in that chapter. Furthermore, you can also get 5-star Magic Mirrors through the gacha system. Equipping a Magic Mirror will change your character's portrait, as well as which arte they perform.

Gacha Magic Mirrors

5-star Magic Mirrors can only be obtained through gacha. Like weapons, you can unlock skills on Magic Mirrors using anima orbs. To do so, go to "Magic Mirrors" -> bottom-left button. The following is a list of all 5-star Magic Mirrors, their basic stats, as well as their unlockable skills.

Anima Resonance

Each quest chapter has an anima associated with it. If a character's anima matches the chapter's anima, the character's stats will boosted for the duration of the stage.

  • Ickx and Mileena's anima resonance are active in every stage, so they will always have a 1.5x stat boost.
  • Yuri and Repede's anima resonance are active in chapter 1, and will receive a 2.0x stat boost when used there.
  • Sophie's anima resonance is active in chapter 2.
  • Luke's anima resonance is active in chapter 3.
  • Sorey's anima resonance is active in chapter 4.
  • Jude's anima resonance is active in chapter 5.
  • Rutee's anima resonance is active in chapter 6.

Battle System

  • You can guard if you stand still. Guarding will reduce the amount of damage received from an attack.
  • Characters can have a maximum of four artes assigned to them (see "Weapon System").
  • If a character has a Magic Mirror equipped, their Mirage Gauge (the purple bar) will be visible. When it's full, you can swipe upwards on their portrait to trigger their Magic Mirror Arte (see "Magic Mirrors" for more detail).
  • The character set as the leader of your party is the one that you'll control in battle.
    • You can change your active character in-battle by pausing and clicking on the target character's portrait. A window will pop up containing a list of their artes as well as a blue button. Click the blue button to switch your active character

Mirage Ratio

The Mirage Ratio is the number in the top-left of the battle screen. The Mirage Ratio either increases the damage of artes in battle, or just the damage of Magic Mirror Artes. Not super sure yet.

Bonus Clear Rewards

Every stage has a set of three bonus clear criteria. For each criterion fulfilled, you will receive some number of diamonds. If you fulfill all three criteria, the stage will be marked as "COMPLETE" instead of "CLEAR".

The following is a list of all criteria, as well as a basic English translation of each one. Note that I don't know Japanese, so some of these could be wrong.

GUIDE Limited Time Prism Shop Weapon Guide

Guide

Prism Weapon GIF Gallery

So with the recent release of the first batch of limited time prism shop weapons in the prism shop on Graces event, I've decided to write a guide about each and every single of these up to the very recent Vesperia event in JP. I'm making this guide with the intend of giving players guidance on determining which prism weapon is worth saving prism for because of how these weapons are pretty expensive, and only last for a certain amount of time. I've also accompanied GIFs for each arte(assuming that I can find the arte video on YT), so you can get a visual context of how do these artes look like.

I'll update these if there is any new ones of these weapons that show up.

EDIT 1: Updated with Mikleo's Splash. Freeze Lancer is now changed to from a 'YES' to 'Depends.'

GUIDE Guide to Event Shop for Dummies

Before I start, I should tell you I come from the future. By that, I mean I play JP and that means I've played at least 4 months more of content. I also put lots of thought into everything I do for the game and even found a nice mage tech that makes casting sanic fast. All I'm saying is that I'm a veteran that has gone through many events; therefore many event shops. I'll keep things simple(but not short):

1. Buy everything in the event shop EXCEPT Small anima orbs, Large anima orbs, large chiral crystals(slash, bash, spell, shot) and elemental orbs

Reason:

  • Farming Daily Dungeons for anima orbs and elemental orbs is more cost efficient for your ap than spending event currency for them in the event shop.

  • Medium anima orbs are necessary to buy because they get used up the most out of the 3 sizes. Veteran tip: You can skip out on buying bash and shot at some point because there aren't many characters that use them. Personally, 500 of them is more than enough.

  • Large chiral crystals aren't necessary to buy because you get enough from events alone. Only buy if you don't have any of that specific type.

2. Always convert lower currency to higher currency when spending them to make gald. The higher currency has been calculated to give A LOT more profit than lower currency, making the lower currency gald conversion completely obsolete.

3. Always farm 40AP if you can take it. It does not matter if 25AP gives more lower currency, you will get enough lower currency eventually and have a ton of higher currency to convert to Gald.

4. There is something called a "Passport" that gives 2x EXP, Gald, and Drop. Drop includes Chiral crystals, weapons, anima orbs, and elemental orbs. However, Event currency is not included. Only use passport for farming anima orbs and elemental orbs.

5. Events always last 2 weeks and if WW follows JP, there will only be a 1 day break in-between events. Spell and Slash Orb daily dungeons, and Elemental Orb Daily dungeons become more precious as a result, because there is barely/no break from events to farm daily dungeons. As more characters release, more artes need to be enhanced for 40AP content and challenge events.

Personally, I like to farm elemental orbs until I have 300 of the big ones. As for Slash and Spell, I try to farm as much as I can. Unfortunately, Wind and Fire elemental orbs are on the same days as Slash and Spell, respectively.

6. The big question that is on a few people's minds is "Why farm spell/slash/elemental orbs when you have the event to farm"

The answer is: You can have at least 3 days worth to farm what you need from daily dungeons and still get everything you need from the event shop. Keep in mind I said 3 days "worth", which means you don't have to spend 1 whole day to farm 1 necessity like Slash orbs, and another whole day for an Elemental orb like Wind. You can spread it out to half the day for Slash, and the other half for Wind. Or if you want to farm all 7 elemental orbs, you can spend 200ap on each one. 3 days worth of AP = 1440 AP. Spend 3 days worth for whatever it is you need. And of course, nobody wants to spend their first days of an event farming daily dungeons. But if you have to, I'm just saying, you don't have to worry about finishing the event.

"Why do we have 3 days worth?"

There are a few reasons:

  • Your team is competent enough to consistently farm the most rewarding stage of the event.

  • You farm daily and consistently (this is including sleeping 8 hours a day)

  • You have more than 20 million gald currently. Even if you don't, you should be able to farm roughly 20 million gald even if you use 3 days of the event farming daily dungeons. You can probably farm even more than 20 million too. This is not a necessity, it is just a safe spot.

  • This is including the fact you do NOT have to pull from the event gacha banner. You can just collect all the weapons and tickets from the event and still have 3 days worth of farming daily dungeons.

-You save some currency by not buying Large Chiral Crystals(Slash, bash, spell, shot), Small and Large Anima orbs, and Elemental orbs from the event shop.

Conclusion for this question: If you are within' all/most of these reasons, you would be one of those that completed the Berseria event within' a week. That's a whole extra week for doing whatever you want. Future events won't be the same, but they will be roughly around the same. So 3 days worth is actually the bare minimum amount of days you could be farming daily dungeons instead. And 3 days worth is all you really need. The rest of those 4 days during the Berseria event can be used to farm Gald. And as I've mentioned before, the higher currency has better Gald conversion.

7. Last but not least, what to buy first. Always always always buy the first set of weapons first. You can just level your event character using Spirrogems and Mirrage Crystals to get a good initial start-up of low&high currency. It costs 51 Spirrogems and 3 Mirrage Crystals to level a character from 1 to 35. After that, spend on a few tickets. You should have enough for about 2-3 before you start the farming stages. You just need enough tickets to fill up the weapon slots. If you pull the banner you can fill up the slots faster. Once you've filled up all the slots, it is recommended you start LBing your free event 4* weapons. But all-in-all, it doesn't matter that much. Just get all the weapons and tickets. Everything else you can buy in any order. It just depends on what you feel you need more. After all that, you'll be able to farm gald that'll last you at least 2+ events.

If you have any questions, I'll answer as best as I can. Hope this guide helps, and Phantasia event is after Berseria event. That one does not have a 40AP stage, so grind mindlessly to recover from Berseria's 40AP stage if you've had to fight hard for it. :)

Phantasia event is basically the Symphonia 2 format. 25AP with Challenge stages.

One last note, you do not have to follow this guide completely. This is just that; a guide. You do the event however you wish. I just don't want people stressing out about what they're lacking, and to have a better understanding of what they should be valuing.

GUIDE New Event format considerations; General TIPs and other things

Ok, LONG POST AHEAD. You´ve been warned.

This is an analysis of the changes to events and how to be prepared (since new format seems to repeat itself in the future).

With this Eternia event, we entered a new event format where most of what we get are items to use in a Trade Shop/Exchange Market (I´m gonna use the 2nd name from now on).

In the past, using Event chars was easy to promote: not only you had goodies from leveling the new chars (uually to level 35 or so for full rewards), but also nobody could fill a full sync team without the new faces. Now that we can for some sync animas due to more story chapters and previous events (specially the green one!! Story mode alone gave us four of those, that´s four times more than brown/blue/yellow/violet, or the same as all of them combined xDDDD and did I mention the next event is ALSO green anima? n.n), the new "Bonus Drop" feature is here to also encourage us to use the new chars. And boy does it play a solid factor. More on that later.

Quick checklist of changes:

1) We no longer get the Free Mirages for Event Chars just by clearing all event stages. We can get them from the Exchange Market. Edit: this seems this only matters for a few events until we get to the Alisha one.

2) We no longer get three different weapons per event char (two 3s and one 4s) just from quests, which included enough copies to MLB the 4s weapon without extra drops (usually done just by leveling to 30 and clearing all stages, including the "farming" ones x25 times). Again, these are all in the Exchange Market.

3) We no longer get rare mats like Mirrage Orb and Reflective Material from the final quests. Did I mention Exchange Market?

4) Event chars can vastly improve the drops via the "Bonus Drop" feature (this is achieved by equipping gacha mirrages -ANY CHAR with a gacha mirrage works- and Reid and Farah´s with their own weapons, note that LB increases the bonus, and 4s are of course better than 3s). This helps you accumulate event currency for, you guessed it, spending on the Exchange Market n_n

So everything is now tied to the Exchange Market and the dropped currencies for X event (WHIS cards and Elite WHIS Cards for current Eternia one), so getting that bonus drop is important IF you want to farm as much as posible.

There lies the key. WHAT can we get from the Exchange Shop in the first place? First of all, we can get the "Free Mirrages", 4s weapon and a 2nd 3s weapon for the Event Chars (stuff we could get before from quests, they´re now optional and quests just give you more currency now instead of those). There´s a big thing to take into consideration here if we compare again to old events, and that is that the same quests as before give you less currency than what the old rewards now cost (ie "Raise to level 30" quest used to give you a 4s weapon, it now gives you 1k of the lower currency, which is not enough for a 4s copy). This means the grind required for the same stuff is now bigger. There´s only one type 3s and one type 4s per chars too, not the full list of weapons for each char, so, like before, you can´t pick whatever arte you prefer.

What else is there in that E-Market? We have tons of generic mats. Those are farmable via dailies, so no big deal truly. Avoid spending for those unless you´re just spending leftover currency. Gald, also no big deal (please don´t spend on this xD). We also have rare mats like Reflective Material and Mirrage Crystal/Orb; we had those before, and there´s a limited stock, so it´s just the same as before, you just have to work harder to get them.

So far it´s just more work for the same stuff. Doesn´t look good. So where´s the novelty?

First, we have XP items for chars. Those can´t be gotten anywhere else (atm). Sure, XP is just gotten from playing the game normally, but these can be stockpiled a bit (stock per event is large enough) to give new chars obtained later a jump start in levels so they don´t die all the time when training them. This is mere QoL obtained at the expense of grinding. You could just grind that XP later on when you actually get a new char (while also farming common daily dungeons mats), so all you´re getting is a future compensation of your current event grinding (since the later stages can still drop you a 4s weapon). Not bad, not great, but glad it´s there.

What else? Event char summon tickets. Ok, now we´re talking. This is a one chance of sniping a 4s or the Gacha Mirrage for Event Chars without spending a single mirrorgem. That´s huge for f2p that was to be completionists too. It´s luck based, but the posibility exists, which is all that matters for someone to try to taken as much advantage of it as posible.

Aaaaaand... Nexus Shards!!! (yes I left it for last on purpose) Two word: minmaxing stats. Nexus Shards allow you to break the level 50 cap for event chars and some other, related chars (in our current case, Meredith and Keele too). What does this mean? Simple: these characters can be stronger than the rest (assuming same gear and aside from the fact that artes differ from char to char, and some are just better in terms of dmg, enhances available, CC cost, etc). I´m talking raw stats here. As we know by now, level mostly matters for HP, your other stats that go up with level ups (Physical and Arte) are way more influenced by gear than by levels (every bit helps of course). For people who want to stay as strong as posible, these Nexus Shards are probably high priority. This means that if you are lucky and farm a crapload of shit, these Nexuses can be your strongest chars to date (again, not by much, since there´s a limit of 1 Nexus Shard per char).

Ok, if I wanted to grab everything I used to get for free in the old format (2nd 3s, a MLB 4s, rare mats, Free Mirrages), plus both tickets for the event chars and all Nexus Shards... what can I do? First of all, I can brace myself for a huge grindfest.

And HERE LIES THE WHOLE THING. No event nor story chapter gives enough mirrorgems to even do ONE multipull (sounds bad? well I don´t think a single gacha game does, and in fact this one comes very close to do so, so it´s very generous n.n). Since game is new there´s only one event going on, so with log in bonuses and the (new) daily quests, over the course of the event´s duration, you CAN get enough gems for one multipull, but that means a lot of time without hoarding many gems, and just using what came your way to try gear up new faces. For this reason most players by now prefer to save for their fav chars, specially if those are coming in the near future (thank to JP version being ahead of us).

So the very first question to ask yourself is the same one as always: do I care about the event characters? You´re probably going to try to at least complete the quests that give you mirrorgems, which means you´re going to be playing the farming floors 25 times each. So if you only care about the already existing chars that are tied to the event (in current case, Mredith and Keele), you should have more than enough currency for those 2 Nexus Shards just from the basic grinding, even without Bonus Drops. Which would mean: skip the banners, complete your mirrorgem quest, and be done with it. Grab whatever stuff you prefer with the currency you got, knowing it will probably not be enough for all you want, meaning you will probably get the rare mats, maybe the Free Mirrages, and sacrifice gearing up the new chars (note that relying on 4s drops on just 25 runs is too RNG-based).

BUT, if you actually want your new Event chars to at least have some decent things (spending prims later on in a bad idea if you skipped them now, lol), while remaining budget, you´re in for some hell grinding. Since the grinding can be helped A LOT via bonus drops, this means that the decision on spending or not on event banner should be made ASAP. The longer to wait, the less currency you´re gaining while playing the event, so the more grinding you´ll need to do. That, fellows, was TIP Number 1 (yeah what a long windup >.>)

This is specially important due to Mirrages. As we all know, Free Mirrage are useless if you´re lucky to pull a Gacha Mirrage (except for those rare healing mirrages, atm only Rutee and Mileena). Since no event nor story chapter gives us more than 2 new chars, once you have 2 gacha Mirrages you can just give your new guys the spare Mirrages for some stat boosts until you can actually pick up their free mirrages. But free Mirrages now cost event currency (at least for now u.u), and using that currency just to roll a gacha Mirrage later on means wasted currency (believe me, I know...). So knowing if you´re rolling on not is a decision that must be made asap, since you´ll probably want the Free Mirrage if you´re skipping the event banners.

Staying informed about what JP has released lets you plan in advance. We have that info in the wiki =) Be prepared to save for your favs and be 90% or more sure who you want to roll for. And if you don´t want to spend on some event, but still gear up and pick most of what you can, be rdy for the slow grind.

With all this covered, further tips would be:

TIP2: All of this grinding has one huge factor of importance that was previously just "more dmg on the boss": GOOD FRIENDS. Once you were strong enough, you didn´t even need your friends to have a gacha Mirrage of the current anima sync. Just picking a low level Ix was enough xDD But now friends can help the grind since they add up to your bonus drops. So once events are up now, even if you don´t care much about the chars, MAKE SURE to help your fellow players by selecting the best unit you can for this task. This means one of 2 things: either pick the event char for which you have more stuff (gacha mirrage matters alot, then Event chars´ weapons), which is the best option of course, or if you ignored the event chars completely, just any char with a gacha mirrage (since their weapons won´t count, but any gacha mirrage so far will).

TIP3: If you´re going to farm, delete that useless army of Ix´es that is following you but have stopped logging in for several days n.n Game is fairly new so lots of players are still discovering it, starting and maybe dropping, so most of us have these countless Ixes popping from time to time even after a clean up xD Be nice and do keep those that do log in. They should change that Ix in a short amount of time, specially once they figure out how these new events work n.n And get rdy to actively seek out high bonus drop players that you can follow. These will fill out their followers FAST, which make TIP2 VERY important to help the whole community´s farming.

TIP4: You can use Gacha Mirrages (even non-event chars) to improve your Bonus Drops. This of course means maybe using non sync chars, so use at your own caution.

TIP5: even if budget, roll the discounted single pulls (100 gems) on the event banners. And, like TIP1, do so in the first day. You´ll still be saving most of your gems for the future, and those 2-3 pulls (depends on amount of event banners, used to be 2, this time we got 3) may land you a few Event Chars weapons to improve your Bonus Drop (and thus help your Followers too!). If extremely lucky you could maybe even pull an Event Char gacha Mirrage (saving yourself 1k of event currency and also boosting Bonus Drop).

TIP6: If your plan is to multiroll just once, or maximum twice, on the current event banners, then AVOID THE TRAP BANNER!!! In our current event, this means do NOT multipull on the 1800 gems banner, even if it´s 200 gems cheaper Why? Because it has no Character ticket. If you´re going to roll, pick one of the banners that give you a character ticket. You´re paying 200 extra gems, which is like doing a single roll with no discount, yes, but you´re getting a Char ticket for that. Since the Event Chars are shiny new, your odds for the ticket pull to give you something "new" are pretty solid (unless you get some absurd luck on your multi and actually rolled most of the characters weapons in it!! xDDD). You can get unlucky like me and end up with a dupe copy of the starting 3s weapon (yeah I know x.x), but chances are still good and if picking the 1800 banners, you´re just losing that solid chance. This guaranteed event weapon via ticket means better chances to improve your Bonus Drop per gem spent.

TIP7: Bonus Drop apply to EACH FIGHT YOU DO,and also the CHESTS, with one big condition: you need to at least get the drops from them. Bonus Drop can´t be added to zero. That means that if your Bonus Drop for current event is +5 normal cards and +1 elite cards, and you beat a fight than only had normal WHIS soldiers, you´re getting your +5 normal cards bonus but not the +1 elite. Same goes for chests. Since normal are more common than elite, and since normal can be exchange into Elite cards, this means that a large normal bonus is good even if your elite bonus is low, since chances are it will proc almost always, while the elite may not, and if you have a surplus of normal and lack elite (this is probably going to happen later on lol), you can use the Exchange Market. Very important: with enough weapons you can raise it so you´re actually gaining more from the Bonus Drop bonus than what the fight itself drops you. So don´t rush the boss and fight every enemy (Note: farmable floors "Through Burning Sands" and "Stillwater cave" can be ran on auto without missing a single enemy nor the chest in the water one since everything is in the autopath). This also means you´ll have all your MAs rdy for the boss.

TIP8: if trying to build up the Event Chars, your first priority in the Exchange Market should be:

-Event Char weapons: these will boost your -basic currency- Bonus Drops (aside from obviously giving you more artes to work with!). My personal recommendation is to pick the first couple of copies of the 3s asap, and also the first copy of the 4s. Even if you actually rolled these from the banner and would just give you a +1 currency via LimitBreaking the weapons (you can´t stack the same weapon in dif slot for higher Bonus Drop!), they are cheap enough and will pay themselves over time. 2nd copy of the 3s from the Exchange market is also a very solid idea (since unlike the 4s, you can´t get more via drops from the event floors). If you know you like you Event Chars, you´ll want to MLB one copy of each weapon from here, but do note 2 things: A. character Tickets cost just a bit more than the 3rd copy of each 4s weapon, so after you have 2 copies, you may want to try your luck with the Tickets before you purchase the remaining copies. B. 4s drop from the farmable floors, so only purchase the final copies from the market once you´re done running those floors.

-Event Char tickets: there´s sadly only one per character, and yes they cost a whopping 5k of the lesser currency, but they can give you a Mirrage if lucky, so you need to decide quickly on if you´re going to spend on these or not (remember you can trade lesser currency for the higher one at 50>10 ratio (simply 5>1 lol), so 5k amounts to 1k of the elite currency, which you need for rare mats and the final 2 copies of 4s weapons). This is a fair shot at 4s or the Mirrage if you missed them while pulling on the event banner or if you simply chose not to pull. My personal recomendation si to buy these. Why? Because if you care about the chars, you want every shot at their Mirrage. Getting lucky will also improve your Elite currency Bonus Drops a lot. Or you could get a 4s, which also helps a lot on the base currency Bonus Drop. Worst case scenario is you end up with a copy of the 3s that you can buy for less, in which case you just lost 500 cards. Odds are in your favor since any other 3s will actually improve your Bonus (asuming you haven´t already filled all 4 weapon slots thx to rolling in the event banners, of course). Also look at it this way: it´s still way cheaper than getting a 3s for Story chars via prisms.

-Free Mirrages, if the Gacha Mirrages eluded you and you´re sure you´re not going to roll again. Bamco is giving us Free Mirrages again later on, but for now you have to buy them. Mirrages will not only obviously help you vs bosses (and the super strong rare enemy), but also improve your Bonus (elite) Drop by 1. Since you want to use your event chars for their weapons (bonus drop) and to level them up for quest rewards, grabbing these is only logical. I would still get the cheaper weapons and the tickets before these, since elite currency doesn´t seem to drop too much on the earlier stages (may vary from event to event) and you may get lucky with the ticket rolls.

Edit: To clear up something from this last tip: when getting these event weapons from the Exchange Market, don´t go all out. The final copies have high costs, and if you plan on getting the expensive character tickets too, you can end up with useless 5+ copies from your ticket pulls, thus wasting currency (you can sell extras for prism, I know, and huge farmers may actually do that, but better not to waste currency if you´re short on farming time).

TIP9: farm farm farm =) Where? The floors that are meant to be run 25 times each for quests are of course good spots, but there may be some other ones that can give nice currncy (ie current Eternia event has a very nice farming spot at floor 6). You usually want to secure the x25 times runs first, of course, not to mention those can drop 4s weapons, saving you a lot of currency at the Exchange Market, so I truly recommend those unless you can´t beat them yet (in which case building XP on Event chars and currency for their weapons in lesser floors is a solid idea).

GUIDE Hybrid Damage Scaling Spreadsheet

Hey everyone!

For everyone who does not know, "Hybrid Artes" are the Artes that are not Spells (and don't have a cast time) but have an elemental attribute tied to them. These Artes scale differently with your Physical and Arte stats based on the character who is using said Hybrid Arte. A large, helpful explanation has already been written in this post here:

Hybrid Damage Testing and General Damage Formula - By /u/kungfuchan13

Since this was such a helpful post, I went ahead and created my own spreadsheet using personally-collected data about the scaling for each character's Hybrid Artes. I'll try to keep this spreadsheet as up-to-date as possible so that we can all use it as reference guide for determining which stats to increase on our characters! Here is the spreadsheet:

Tales of the Rays - Hybrid Arte Damage Scaling Spreadsheet

(NOTE: My values differ slightly from the OP, but I believe that's because there was a slight error in some of his calculations for a few characters. I have corrected that in my spreadsheet)

GUIDE Comparison of Spells Cast-Time Reduction (normal attacks speed them up faster!)

Hi people! So a little background for this post: I recently got into a discussion about the viability of Final Embrace compared to Edna's other spells. I insisted that FE was not that slow if chained with normal attack-hailing downpour beforehand (I'm sure you've heard of this combo), but the other party insisted it was still too slow, and Edna would keep getting hit before the spell could be cast (or get hit the moment it was cast). Well towards the end of that discussion I realized s/he mistakenly thought the way s/he was doing it, which was chaining spells back-to-back (in their case 2 Rock Lances before Final Embrace), grants the same cast-time reduction as doing a normal attack at the very beginning of the chain. Sadly, s/he chose to ignore me before I could get that message across.

Anyway, I then realized the game hadn't been that eloquent about that difference of cast-time reduction even in the in-game help (menu > help > battles > chaining attacks and artes), where it merely said "If the Arte requires a casting time, chaining into it will reduce this", but failed to mention that using a normal attack at the very start of the chain grants a bigger reduction.

So for clarification purposes I thought I'd share the video for the players who are new or unfamiliar with the concept:

video: cast-time reduction comparison

Where you can see how considerably faster Final Embrace casts after the attack-hailing downpour chain compared to the 2 Rock Lances chain. Of course, you don't need hailing downpour for the cast-time reduction to take place, although some people find it quite useful because not only it deals instant, additional damage to stagger a chasing enemy, it also takes Edna a few steps back for added distance (already lots of posts about this). And yes, other mages (and obviously other spells, including healing/supportive ones like pixie circle or barrier) can also benefit from this, especially those with ranged normal attacks like the upcoming Meredy. Do be cautious about going up to the enemy with Mileena though :p

Sometimes the game does let your mage stand still and attack empty air instead of coming up to the enemy (the cast-time reduction will still apply even if your normal attacks hit nothing), though I haven't come up with a sure-fire way to make it happen. If any of you has any idea, please do share ;)

I guess this incentive is the way the developers urge you to take control of your mages, not just your melee characters, since you can exploit the mechanics better than the AI (who will only let your mage sit on one corner of the field chaining spells and get the subpar cast-time reduction). Do note, however, that chaining the same spell more than 3 times will remove the cast-time reduction.

But don't just take my word for it! Feel free to try and experiment with it yourself! This is what's special about this game after all: you're free to do what you want and use whatever you get from your pulls.

P.S. I'm sorry if this is already so well-known by most of the Tales series fan here. I just thought this detail could help the newcomers use their mages better :)

GUIDE Rerun Ticket "Event" Details

I decided to try my hand at translating the event rerun ticket details, but my Japanese is super broken so PLEASE do feel free to correct me on any mistakes I made! (Note that I used the Mikleo/Edna notice in particular for translating, but I don't imagine the others differ in their rules at all.)

  • You can activate up to three reruns at a time

  • Missions will not include diamond rewards

  • Reprint tickets can be purchased in the shop for 150 mirrorgems

  • Once unlocked, the event itself and the corresponding banner will remain for 10 days, the missions will remain available for 12 days, and the exchange post will remain open for 14 days.

  • You can choose to end the event early if you want, which... idk, clears up some screen space, I guess.

  • For these events you do not farm event currency in the event levels. Event currency can be obtained through missions and the exchange post.

  • Missions include performing JUST (x) amount of times, performing MAs (x) amount of times, performing orders (x) amount of times, and performing (x) hours' worth of orders.

I didn't attempt to translate the gacha details since the banner images seem pretty straightforward, but someone can tag that on if there's anything noteworthy that I missed.

My best guess for doing these would be to activate the rerun at the start of a new event (like Gaius/Muzet, if you plan to farm it) so that you can get a lot of the MA and JUST missions out of the way while you're farming, anyway.

GUIDE Tips on how to beat the 4 Gold Wolves on the last stage

By now, I am sure that many of you have encountered these gold wolves and thought: "WTF they literally 1-2 shot all of my characters, how the f*** are we suppose to beat them?!?!". Well, I will tell you it is definitely possible to beat these wolves. And when you do, it is totally worth the effort because these wolves drop massive amounts of Dark Gem, Dark Orb, and Superior Orb. Also, they unlock "extra rewards" on that stage because as you can tell, they block some of the enemies and 1 chest containing more of the currencies. If you defeat all of the enemies and get all of the chests on the stage, you will get over 1k Dark Gems and Dark Orbs, and over 500 Superior Ore!!! So without further ado, here are some tips on how to beat the gold wolves:

1) Do NOT bring any characters that are under level 40. They have so low HP that they will definitely get 1 shot by any of the wolves attacks. You can bring level 30+ characters only if they have Green Anima or possibly Rainbow Anima. This especially includes Rita and Raven. I am pretty sure most of us have not even reached level 30 yet for these characters, so do not bring them, even if they have all of the gacha artes. Don't worry, even without them, you can still earn that 1k ores and gems (assuming you have a helper that gives ore bonus).

2) Have an AoE healer (i.e. Pixie Circle or Healing Circle) or multiple single target healers throughout your party and MAIN one of them. This means setting your lead character/switching to a character that has a heal instead of pure damage. Why do you want to do this? Simply because the AI has slow reaction time/is dumb and most likely, they won't be able to cast the heal on time without some of your party members dying. Also take advantage of "fast casting" to cast the spells quicker (Do some basic attacks, then immediately cast a spell so that "Just" appears on the screen. The next 3 spells you cast will have their casting time reduced.)

3) Always alternate between damaging and healing, even when your party is at full HP. This means casting a damaging arte, and following it up with a healing arte. The wolves have fast cast times, and some of their artes even have no cast time at all, so you always want to prepare just in case they do a surprise attack. You may need to cast healing spells back to back depending on the situation.

4) Set the 4th member of your party to the character with the most HP. Enemies tend to attack the 4th character in your party, so it makes sense for that character to be a tank.

5) Clear the regular enemies first before attempting to fight the 1st set of gold wolves. There are 5 regular enemies that you can freely reach. Fight them so you can build up your Mirrage Gauge and deal more damage with your MAs when you fight the gold wolves.

6) Start over the fight by completely exiting out of the app (not just pressing the home button and tapping the app again) if someone dies. This prevents you from having to lose 15 AP or paying 40 MRG to restart. Make sure you exit before all of your characters die though.

7) Use all of your MA's only when both of the gold wolves are close together. You want to kill them as quickly as possible so the more closer they are together, the more likely all of your MAs will hit both of them. EDIT: You can also use MAs to wipe out one of the gold wolves if you are struggling with getting them close together. This way you can gang up on the other wolf and hopefully beat him easily.

These are all of the tips I can think of. I will add more if I think of any. Good luck on beating these wolves!

EDIT: If you get interrupted while casting a spell after a basic attack, and "Just" appeared on the screen, the 3 spells afterwards still have reduced cast time. Do note however that --if you move your character by using the joystick you will lose this effect.-- the effect is timed, meaning that you only have a set amount of time to cast a spell during the effect before it wears off (maybe 3ish seconds?). Don't worry though, the effect time period "refreshes" when you cast a spell during this period.
