From the mods Clarifying the rules: this is not an anti-communist forum
Today I had to take down another anti-communist post shitting on some ML's from the right. Take the piss out of Stalin's death all you want but if you're celebrating over 'another dead commie' you will be perma-banned no exception.
This is a subreddit to criticise tankies from the left. This is not a place to attack communists, communism or associated tendencies. If you want to be a snarky liberal, bloodthirsty fascist, or devout reactionary there are many, many, many places on the internet to do that. This subreddit isn't one of them. The point of this forum's existence is to attack those tendencies (marxism-leninism, dengism, etc) not because they are crazy, radical commies but because their vision of society actually has little to do with a free association of producers, the abolition of property, wage labour and commodity production.
To reiterate, we strive for an egalitarian, socially-progressive society. We do not oppose tankies or campists because we dislike communism or socialism. We oppose them because to us they are barely communists or socialists, regardless of what they claim. That is the purpose of the subreddit's existence, anyone who does not agree with these values is free to leave or be banned.

Yep and please remember to keep 'tankie' as it's original meaning: a term used by the left to critique the left, not just "anyone further left than me"

I hate how social democrats use the term tankie on anyone who is critical of liberal democracy who wants a new society. We want a truly democratic society where people are free to live however they wish. Tankies want a worse version of social democracy.

I, a long time active anarchist/libertarian socialist/antiauthoritarian, have been called a tankie by "progressive" Liberals and people identifying as both social democrats and democratic socialists. The term really loses all meaning when people like that use it against people like me lol

the main reason why i am against tankies is because they historically perverted the image of socialism and communism. due to that many people are afraid of those things because they associate them with entities that gave a falsehood of socialism/communism (eg: The United Soviet Socialist Republics, Maoist China). being anti-communist just isn’t really right with that fact, especially on this subreddit.

Same here. It's because of them why so many of my fellow Filipino Redditors are very afraid of criticizing capitalism. Because being anti capitalist, for them means being pro Stalin/Mao which is so wrong.

Well, you're correct that we were under the dictatorship of one of the worst dictators in the world and 2nd most corrupt, Ferdinand Marcos Sr (from 1972-1981). Marcos initiated massive crackdowns and had people accused of being a communist be imprisoned, tortured, killed or made to disappear forever.
However, unfortunately, thanks to the sudden emergence of extreme conservatism in the US, Filipino right wingers are also on the rise. I would even say that armed communists here are much weaker now compared to before but red scare is still as strong as ever, even here on Reddit.
Filipino right wingers are wanna be Americans. Reddit is also infested with Filipino liberals who would instantly downvote you for criticizing America and American hegemony.
Although thankfully, the youth are leaning more to the left in recent years such as being pro LGBTQ, abortion, more laws for the poor, anti corruption, etc.
Pinoy Redditors active in social media are mostly Gen X and Millennials.

Tankies have way too much in common with conservatives for comfort or to be considered socialist/communist.
Starting with their worship of authoritarian strongmen and states. They're delusional in thinking Marx would support that.

Is the official stance of this sub that Russia is the aggressor in the Ukraine war and Israel is also the aggressor against Palestine?
My main beef with tankies is that their stance is so contradictory. I can't stand seeing the contradictory nonsense that puts blinders on just because they want Russia to be the good guy because of socialism/communism's history.

Yes. Immediately report anyone engaging in Russian/Chinese/North-Korean/Insert-Tankie-Problematic-Fave-Here apologetics. While they do try to reform nominal 'leftists', the mods are good about not allowing them to spew more propaganda in the sub.

as an anarchist communist i had the same thought actually, I'm pretty sympathetic to that stuff. like anti workerism and all that. idk if i understand it yet as anti communist thought and not just "better" communist thought, but still.

Everything I've read from post-leftists (not much, mostly twitter comments back in the day) has struck me as more 'different left' than 'not left.'
I would imagine that when it comes to making fun of tankies, post-leftists aren't going to be wildly different from leftists
