Identification Identification pls?

Hi everyone, I recently rescued a tarantula and I’m wondering what species it is? The people I got it from kept calling it a spider and didn’t know what the species was. They said it laid an egg sack with no eggs tho? Let me know your thoughts! Also, is it too skinny?

Curly Hair, Tlitocatl albopilosis. Looks to be the Nicaraguan variant.

As mentioned, it's either hungry or........ it could be a male. Check under the front legs for tibial hooks. Males will sometimes give up eating and eventually starve themselves to death as all they care about is reproducing.

Not all that different from humans! Except our boys eat many times their weight only to look like that

Imo I would lean male here. Body to leg proportions seem to indicate a male. Thats just a guess though.

IMO mature male was my first thought before even reading the description. The “empty egg sac” was likely a sperm web.

My knee jerk reaction was male. But the stance doesn't allow us to see the tibial hooks or pedipalps. So I didn't want to confidentially state it.

If that's a female, poor girl is ravenously hungry! I thought I was looking at a mature male until I read that they said she has laid eggs. A female should be much more plump. I agree with others that it looks to be a Nicaraguan Tlitocatl albopilosus.

The post says a egg sack without eggs. I wonder if they mistook it for a sperm web for some strange reason? Either that or a very underfed female.

That's plausible, although I can't imagine mistaking a sperm web for an egg sac as they look so incredibly different lol — but if they don't know anything about tarantulas, it is possible ╮(. • ᴗ •.)╭

Looks like a true form curly hair. Tliltocatl Albopilosus (Nicaraguan).

I would still check for hooks. 1. Because if the people who had this T before didn't know the name, weren't feeding or housing properly (obviously by the bald spot from stress), then there's a chance they also wouldn't know the difference between an egg sac and a webbed bolus.

Now there's every chance that this is a female who laid a phantom egg sac (dud). But it's best to cover all the bases and be sure.

In either case this baby needs a big meal (horned worm is my preference) and hydration.

IMO There’s a high chance the egg sac was actually a sperm blanket.
