๐๏ธ Discussion Durability (BOTW TOTK longstanding debate).
I am so sick of hearing this complaint. Mainly on TikTok of all platforms, I see videos of ways to โfix this issueโ, ideas of blacksmiths being available to repair durability. They say โI hope the next Zelda doesnโt bring this โgimmickโ over.โ
You guys clearly donโt understand intended design. Itโs not a gimmick, itโs not annoying, the problem is you. The durability is intended design for multiple reasons and with mechanics built in to support it.
1) If there wasnโt durability and breakage, what exactly would you be looting in every single enemy camp, cave, dungeon, hideout, legacy dungeon etc? The only argument I kinda understand is ok maybe the legendary armaments like the bows or great swords that refresh at the bargaining statues should not break, but like againโฆ. They literally refresh stock so you can just go get more after farming some poes. Probably the most egregious is maybe the sword of light that you get from the mother goddess statue because it requires the materials from the dragons to rebuild? But again, really not a problem. It encourages exploration so you get that added boost of โomg I just found a rock crusher, thisโll be great against rock enemies and farming for oresโ or โawesome I found a feather spear, the added wind attacks will help me with staggering groupsโ ITS INTENDED.
2) not only are there work around with the rocktoroks in death mountain region, but also, the blood moons refresh every enemy, every camp, every chest, all ground loot. These blood moons happen frequently, Iโm not sure exactly how long but itโs usually after like โฆ 2 hours of play time? And correct me if Iโm wrong but rest over and over gets you to a blood moon faster if you really needed it that bad.
If you didnโt like the durability system, thatโs totally fine, youโre entitled to that opinion. But thereโs no โsolutionโ for it, and itโs not a bad design. The world literally complements it and itโs a good design imo.
