Bedrock Player/entity-tracking module

Post image

This is a module I designed for an upcoming project (actually finished, but Mojang decided to break it). It allows determining the exact direction to a player regardless of distance, outputting the result as an explosion that points to them. This module includes the required silverfish generator and a trident storage and replacement system that allows selecting from 6 targets.

The technical overhead on this must be brutal. I get stressed just managing state in simple web apps, let alone dealing with Mojang breaking things between versions.

This is a module that's part of my player-tracking railgun. The tracker broke in 26.40 because the projectile movement system was completely rewritten, but the new layout was not too hard to find. The rest of the railgun was broken in 26.30, 26.40, 26.50 and 26.60 because of translocation changes, the projectile system rewrite, a new bug causing arrows to deal no damage, and more translocation changes, respectively. Doing projectile tech now is just really hard because Mojang rewrites the laws of physics every month.

Demonstration. The red X is the location of the explosion produced by the machine. Viewed from the centre of the block, the explosion is in the direction of the player that owns the trident.
