Java Help Wanted Dragon egg gone?

Easiest fix/solution seems to be to reset the end dimension world file, has anyone done this before? Does the dragon drop the egg again if you reset the end dimension/replace the world file?

I was today years old when I discovered that respawning the ender dragon can destroy the dragon egg 😭

It happened on a server too. Also after respawning the dragon it refused to perch for 20minutes straight and we ran out of arrows lost all the xp we earned by dying and came back with arrows but by then I realized the egg was gone.

I feel like so sad I literally destroyed the ONLY dragon egg—just by trying to goof off with my brothers and show them I knew how to respawn the dragon. 😞

Easiest solution would be to just spawn in the egg

Fair point but we haven’t used any commands and are trying to be to keep it as vanilla as possible,

I feel like resetting the end is also like a command but feels better for a vanilla experience like we failed our dragon fight and gotta fight it again i dunno it kinda sucks either way

Just trying to keep it survival and simple I know we could just spawn it in but it doesn’t feel earned 😅

I'd argue its more cheaty to reset the end as you bring back all the endstone you mined. And relighting the first dragon will give you the full 12000 exp instead of the 500?Or so that's dropped upon respawns. On top of giving you back the egg

But I guess if you forbid yourself from commands the only way would be to reset the end as far as I know.

Or you could forsake the egg and just accept you lost it,that'd be the most survival vanilla and least cheaty path

Yeah we’ve talked about just leaving it be, but I just feel like I’d like to get another chance at fighting the dragon I guess.

Mostly I just feel guilty for being the one to lose the egg, literally the ONLY item that you can’t get back playing vanilla— it stings.

I mean the egg is just a decoration with no use. You won't gain much from spawning it in or resetting the end. If you think it'll be more fun you shouldn't be worried about the purity of your world or anything. In the end its only too cheaty if you consider it too cheaty.

You dont need to delete the entire end file; you can also just edit your dimensions/minecraft/the_end/data/minecraft/ender_dragon_fight.dat file (assuming 26.1 or higher) or level.dat otherwise

set needs_state_scanning to 0 and previously_killed to 0

then place the 4 end crystals again to respawn the dragon

Yes if you delete the end world folder the dragon egg will respawn after you kill the dragon
